This worked great on my 2010 MacBook Air. I needed help on changing the existing partition. Thank you!

This tutorial worked really well! Now my 10 yr old macbook is usable and I still have MacOS if necessary! Like others have said I setup wifi using the first steps and reinserting the installation disk. For some reason Disk Utility wouldn't let me create as big of a secondary partition despite having ample free space. I went with the xfce flavor to be on the safe side and it works really well!

thak you for the steps but instead of using an Internet Cable, just go to the first prompt that popped up, the welcome one and go to first step section and go to the install drivers, just stick the usb you used to install the linux mint then let it do it's work.

I install Opencore Legacy Pather first. That allows me to install newer MacOS on my old macs. Then i create a second partition and install Linux Mint. My Macbook Pro (late 2008) now runs both Ventura and Linux Mint 21.3

The best instruction of a stepwise installation I have seen in UA-cam. Unfortunately, it does not work on my MB 2010 Yosemite 10.10.5. There are no EFI boot files on the USB Stick so starting Linux from USB is no option.
The latest version of Balena Etcher I have found that will run on Yosemite is version 1.5.63. Maybe this is the explanation? Or maybe the Linus Mint Cinnamon 21.1 is not bootable?

is it possible that you have accidentally installed linux mint onto the drive with MacOS, and thats why you cannot boot back?

    2019 intel MacBook Pro.
I don’t get the UEFI USB option after pressing option post reboot. I created the partitions correctly, I flashed the usb correctly. But I get 3 USB icons after reboot and none of them bring me to a grub menu. SIP SCIP (whatever it’s called) has been disabled. Any advice?

Disable Secure Boot : Reboot - Hold Command-R, Change the boot security in the top menu > Secure Device setting(or something like that) Select "No Security" and "Allow External Device Boot" Then exit recovery and hold option again. Then again if this still doesnt work. Remove your mac from your Find MY in iCloud. (this is odd but this is what fixed it for me.

I'm running Mint on a 2009 MBP as well as a 2012 MBP i7. Totally ditched MacOS. I still have a M1 MacBook Air running MacOS which stlat for over a year (I was overseas) and now I'm having issues with that. Unfortunately I didn't have a backup, but I can boot into it. I'm really tempted to go Linux on that, but I'm sure that would kill it's stellar battery life?

hi, i installed monterey on my late-2009 macbook (unsupported) using Open core legacy patch. Its working fine..except for partitions which cannot be seen.
I made separate partition for Linux mint, which was installed successfully. But after reboot and pressing option, I could'nt see the Linux partition...by which i cannot select Linux partition.. so I am forced to select EFI boot (Monterey).
    Why is this happening?
And how can I select between partitions?
Is this happening because of OCLP ?
Is the patch creating partition problem ?
    What did i do wrong?
    Would appreciate your help..thanks

I would need to know if is there a way to boot my old MacOS HDD externally connected to my DELL 7720 running Linux Mint (Virginia) on it through a USB cable with an IDE interface?
The MacOS HDD comes from an old Powerbook G3 Pismo. I know I can review the files in Linux Mint - not sure about the file system itself as I just ordered that cable and I haven`t received it yet.
Also, every time I search the internet I get results having Linux Mint installed on an old MAC and not other way around, like booting the old MacOS HDD externally connected to the PC running Linux Mint.
