Regarding diseases I would concur with you it shows the efficiency of the management. Yes, there is no doubt the pathogens can be nasty but often times there's always the presence of clinical signs or symptoms indicating pathogenic activity. What the manager or farmer does within that time frame of clinical appearance and/or further few mortalities determines the eventual mortality and survival rates. It is imperative that humans involved in Aquaculture need to be proactive.
Another side is the fact that stock management activities can allow or prevent pathogenic actions. Pathogens coexist with animals, you decide what happens to your stock by your actions.
Taking ownership instead of blaming a pathogen... Sounds like a useful mindset to adopt. 💯
