      From 0.5 to 70ppt can be farmed, but 10 to 30 ppt is better for high density, this for L. vannamei

    Which are the best shrimp pond design, circular liner or raceway?

    • @joseantoniosantosdom
      @joseantoniosantosdom 11 місяців тому +2

      Circular is the winner as the sludge can go to centre, but it is much easier to cover a raceway in a green house type of structure. Also it really depends on the overall management

    Can we cultivate shrimp farming during Rainy season in a earthen pond. What are the parameters that we need to take care during cultivation in rainy season

    Hi sir, for intensive Shrimp Farming (Not biofloc) if we have to maintain CN ratio at 15:1 and on daily basis add sugar as a carbon source into pond, so is it harmful to water ?

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  Рік тому

      Hi, carbon stimulate bacteria, and bacteria reduces ammonia but consume oxygen. As long as you have enough aeration and can keep oxygen above 4.5 (5 better). it is ok. If you are struggling with oxygen in the morning, it is better to avoid sugar.

    Can you also talk about semi intensive or traditional pond? Most of the farmer in Indonesia unable to make intensive because of no electricity, and fuel cost are unprofitable if used 24 hours. Many of the farmer now starting to try to polyculture with Gracilaria seaweed, milkfish, and vannamei. But we still have no idea about sustainability in this design and even encounter in harvesting problems.

      Hi Charles, please see our videos about pond bottom and pond water preparation . They are applicable to semi intensive shrimp farming.

      @charleskurniawan2950 3 роки тому

      @@hashtagfish8542 Beside pond bottom and water preparation, do you have any suggestion any procedures for traditional system?
      Many farmer here are giving their pond 50kg/hectare of fermented rice bran for every 2 days in traditional vannamei pond, with density of 10PL /m2. And they dont give additional shrimp feed to the pond.
      What do you think of it?

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  3 роки тому +1

      @@charleskurniawan2950 I'm in favor of poly culture for lower densities but I don't endorse using fermented grains because they pollute the water and make things worse in the long run.

    Hi Mr Jose!!! 0-salinity vanamei farming on freshwater water what's the percentage of risk%% profit%%%%!!!!!!!

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  3 роки тому +1

      Hi GT, low salinity has many advantages such as being inland close to consumer market (big cities). For super intensive it is better to run at 5 ppt salinity to avoid nitrite toxicity. The risk vs profit involves many factors and salinity is just a very small, perhaps negligible factor in this equation.

    Question : Why on top of the pond have a lot of white foam ?

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  3 роки тому +1

      it is an indication that the water is not fully matured with bioflocs, but it is not necessarily a problem. Water will foam because of excess organic matter and fine bubbles

    Hi Let me quickly introduce myself - I did my BE in Chemical Engineering at PU; subsequently, I did my MS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (US) and then did my Professional Engineering Certification in Environmental Engineering. After that I became the global lead for Accenture Sustainable Supply Chain and conducted many public private partnerships with WWF, CDP, Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. In the end, I finished my MBA at Wharton Business School. Recently my mother passed away in her honor I have opened a non profit in India and I am setting up a shrimp farm in 22 acres to provide employment and better best practices. In addition, I have partnered with a progressive farmer who currently farming shrimp in 29 acres.
    Let me know if this would be of interest to u.
