"Suryanamaskaras" Or salutations to the sun are what most people are paranoid about. Yes, yoga is a spiritual thing in Hinduism and is used in certain rituals. However, intent is what makes these movements spiritual and not the movements themselves. In the yoga center I go to most Christians replace "OM" with "Jesus" and Muslims with "Allah". So, it IS something that can be done universally. Sorry about the rant 😅 Love you guys ❤❤❤
That's good you're aware and make modifications to problematic words, but would you be comfortable if it became a trend for non-Christians to eat communion, baptize each other, and sing worship music as purely physical/mental activities? Even if you feel okay with it personally, yoga seems misleading when viewed by people who know the spiritual meaning attached to those movements and the idea of union (with the universe, which is viewed as God) assumed in the name. That would include Hindu, Buddhist, or New Age followers, as well as new Christians saved from that background.
@@taylorlewis6931 Again, when it comes to yoga it's not the union of you and the "bramhand" (Universe) but you, your breath and your body. I don't know how they are teaching yoga in other countries, but here the focus of it being something related to a particular God a specific type of spirituality are not seen. You know what the first song my sister would sing if you ask her to? "Andala Tara" which is a Christian hymn written in Telugu which she was taught at the age of 10. Most people, (at least here in India) have no problem with Christian customs. I join in grace when I eat at my friend's house, I've been to several churches and say Merry Christmas during the season. ( 😅 I've also played Santa Claus when I was 12 for morning assembly). The only, and ONLY problem people have with Christians is with the techniques used by missionaries to convert poor people. Seriously, my maid converted to Christianity because they told her that her husband would start listening to her! Other than that, most people here actually love participating in the rituals of other religions, and especially Christianity. Always remember one thing, people are good, where ever they are. It's politics and deception by few misguided people who turn relationships sour.
