I'm addicted to it. lol I use it for fried rice and I add it to lots of things. Mixed with broth and boiled down makes a great sauce for anything especially egg foo yong.

Thank you for the explanation. I will pay closer attention to the percentage of Oyster extract. I think I'm using a Thai brand of Oyster sauce as I remember using it when I was living in Thailand. Flavor is important to me, so I prefer a better quality sauce, and I appreciate your recommendations on products. Cheers.

I came across a bottle of the Lady in the Boat today. WOW!! I am blown away. I had heard that it was higher quality than the Panda, and now I know that to say the quality is higher is a gross understatement...it's like the difference between ham loaf and gabagool. I was instantly spoiled rotten on it, simply from opening the bottle and tasting a dab of it. The Lady in the Boat ROCKS!!

Good inside info and to hear how a Chinese cook is differentiating the brands. Turns out I have panda at 11% as I only have Tescos UK as my local shop still better than nothing. Tx

I remember going to the Chinese grocery with my grandma who had a Chinese food to-go all throughout the 70’s and she told me to grab oyster sauce while she was ordering at the deli. I came back w Panda brand, and she immediately “No good. Get the lady on the boat.” 😂. Years later, I’ve tried Panda and it’s actually very decent. I don’t trust oyster sauces from other brands tho. I’ve bought Dynasty/Kikkoman, in a pinch, and they didn’t taste anything like oyster sauce!

I have tried both of those brands of oyster sauce and I will say I prefer the Panda. It has a better taste to my palate.

Panda brand is my favourite too, and the fact that Uncle Lau, sifu chef of ‘Made with Lau’ uses the same brand for his Kailan dish as a dressing, does not that attest to the superiority of this brand?

Love your channel and am also a fan of Chinese Demystified. This is a really handy video (I happen to have exactly both those in my cupboard, what coincidence), please do more on product comparisons, such as sesame oil (I also have dark Lee Kum Kee).
Would really appreciate one on rice wine (Shaohsing) and soy sauces too, also the difference between dark & light and when to use one over the other, or both.
Looks like you're in the UK so again handy to have recommendations we can find in our Asian supermarkets.
Oh and Juan Cheng Hong You Doubean (chilli bean sauce) and which dishes to use it in. Its sitting in my fridge without purpose at the moment!
Keep up the excellent videos and thanks.

I’m a bit confused, I bought both of these(panda and boat lady) from a super market in Bangkok, and the Oyster content written on the bottle of Panda is 40%, Boat lady 55%, while the bottle shown in the video is about 20%?!?!? Shouldn’t there be such difference between products sold to different countries?

I'm german, I currently found the "Megachef" brand, highly recommended. Wanna compare the Panda with that. I also have a small bottle of "Amoy" brand. Only found the premium one online, so far. And I rather wanna support my local dealers.
"Pailin's kitchen" compared a few more. Pls check out her channel, as well:
Beeing from Europe, this is all so much valid information: we didn't grow up with it!
This is "going to culinary school", following the expertise of a great teacher.
Thanks, from the far north of Germany!

I love the product made in USA more safe 👌

Though products made in the US have to meet stringent regulations before they can be sold, I have been eating those made outside the US and so far, I can state with a degree of confidence, that I have not had food poisoning nor have died from it!
