the great plus of the raspberry pi is that everything is on the SD card, if you want to watch a movie you slide in the libreelec SD, if you want to use raspberry os, you insert the other one
I've gone from using libreelec for years, to using OSMC. Why? OSMC includes the ability to use commands to install way more apps/packages, that cannot be installed any other way (for example Steam Link for game streaming).
I have an extra Rp4 lying around and I was thinking to repurpose it into a entertainment system to connect it to my home theatre. My question is, how much better would it be than a simple Firestick 4k?
I Use OSMC on the pi with q remote and a usb with tons of movies as i have no clue how to do a share folder or a nas of whatever that might be called... Just plug n play and watch a movie and done
I have a server setup in my basement with thousands of movies in HD and UHD, I simply add the samba share to KODI, update the library and it just works. No need for a USB drive.
@@daviddavidsonn3578 This is exactly what I plan on doing with the NAS I'm building. Still trying to make up my mind between OSMC or LibreElec, and if it's going to be absolutely necessary to take the extra steps to hardwire my NAS to my router.
"kodi is a great way to turn old tv into smart tv for a price of rpi". don't forget, when you use rpi you get all the freshest nicest updates for all the software, codecs, streaming clients and everything. this is a must when you use any streaming services or youtube or similar. My folks have an old expensive Panasonic smart tv, which is no longer able to play any damn thing that's out there because the support was dropped a long time ago. Therefore, integrated youtube client doesn't work bc YT always changes sh!t, web browser doesn't work bc HTTPS SSL v2 is not supported by the browser on an old TV, and noone uses HTTP anymore. There's always gonna be something that needs a new version of something else, and smart TV's get forgotten quickly.
I understand why you are saying that, but the idea was to compare the system more than the app. But Kodi vs Plex could be an interesting comparison for a future video.
Can you tell me please how can I install wine64 and box86 in Kali Linux ( I am using Kali Linux on raspberry pi 4). If this possible then make a video on the topic please. Thanks
LOL that osmc setup screen confused you? How? Its definitely very ugly but its hardly confusing its about as basic as it gets. That was a weird statement from a guy who can code and moves around cli like its second nature.
😀 I think when you mouse over something on the left it goes back to this page or reset your selection. With only a touchpad, it's not easy to use. But once you understand that it will be way easier with the arrows keys, it's fine, you are right.
@@RaspberryTips bro, the GUI in OSMC is really bad. I understand what you were referring to, it makes no sense, ....one section takes you back to a main page, and then it goes back to a different one🤣
It doesn't work correctly for mouse users, it does not make selections clear, some ui elements are completely different styles, and other minor issues. It's just poor UI design / UX in general.
@@Tioerasmo29 I hvd a sound issue also. zero sound. and my mouse pointer lags really bad. I have the latest distro as of 11/22. I'll be dumping it. I'll go with 'real' os distro, and add VLC as my media player. LIfe is simple like that.
First fail, not using Firefox, next Rufus but at 2.27 already unveil the looser. Last you claim Kodi is available on any Linux distro, why can´t anyone find it and install it easily?

Exactly what I've been googling for for the past 20 minutes. Thank you!
I installed OSMC on a Raspberry Pi Zero W 2, and I'm really pleased with how smooth it works.
Are you able to play UA-cam videos smoothly?
I wanted to get Libreelec on mine but I could not get it to run for the life of me so I went with OSMC instead and it's been pretty good so far

Who knew Kiefer Sutherland was so into Kodi!

tar -xf
sudo dd --conv=fsync
Main reason for me to use OSMC is for Vero 3d ISO support.
Switched to OSMC yesterday. Want to use de PI4 as a bluetooth audio receiver, this works in OSMC right away.
When Raspberry Pi's are selling for more than any streaming box or stick...
Much more. And eats more power.
Yes, because it's for generic computational tasks, not streaming or media center primarily.
Can't listen to this AI voice, sorry.
Truly Dreadful, I agree.

You sisn't really cover performance. I have had no end of problems with LibreElec buffering issues on RPi 4.
Have you ever tried xbian?

any way to launch osmc on retropi
OSMC is bias to varo
Contradicting info
What about Plex??
You should have included that

It's not bad but I noticed it's AI generated. It can't pronounce 'matter'.

Libreelec has sound issue. For people like me that just wanna use kodi to watch TV, it's unaccetable.Extra time is too expensive.
