I love how it sounds like a darker version of another song (more calm and melancholic) that was in the soundtrack of the first game. Kinda feels that Ellie's rage is taking over her
Beyond Desolation is a musical masterpiece. It's so simplistic yet it sums up Ellies misery perfectly. Throughout the game, it felt like Ellie and I didn't see eye to eye on many matters and situations as she drifted farther and farther away from the people she loved and the player. But this song made me feel exactly what she was feeling and after the game ended, I was once again in sync with her and I can still say she's one of my favorite characters and they didn't ruin her.

Longing (Redemption) helps me with conflicting thoughts about this game. All I see when i hear it Joel and Ellie. It's by far the best OST for me in the LOU2 mainly for that it sounds like a more minimalistic and melancholic version of the original game's soundtrack, almost mirroring the emotional descend that Ellie & Joel relationship undergoes in this game. The song is remarkably similar to the original's ost, it starts with the same chords and notes even, however, what follows those first familiar chords are something entirely different, almost uncanny. Almost as if it reflects the same Joel & Ellie' relationship we love still exist, yet there is something deeply off with it. Allowed to be happy is also my only 2nd to the Longing. It's very similar to the music from the first game, and conveys a very rare form of happiness; acceptance. Ellie reaches a point where she feels powerless to change the reality that ensued that night in Jackson's snowy outskirts, and can be happy in accepting that she can no longer protest or change that. This form of happiness like the music itself isn't cheerful or by the literal sense joyful, rather it's the sort of happiness that comes with retiring an overbearing revenge, a humble defeat that counts as a win - a breath of self-preservation likely to mirror Ellie's conscience being released from the shackles of revenge, changing gears from top to bottom. Some music of the century made in this game. I didn't like how the game ends, it felt like it was all for nothing. It has many wrongs on many levels, but it also has some really good things. Neil really believed he had to tell this story, but I don't think its executed as should be. Despite that I will always love this universe, and will still play this game countless times just to see Joel & Ellie talk one more time.
I actually think that, that's one of the main points. That it feels like it was all for nothing, hence why Ellie left it the way she did. Because after everything.. What was the point in fighting each other after EVERYTHING they've been through. Why continue the vendetta that wouldn't of solved anything anyway. Imagine if we got our revenge, we'd be satisfied (the player) but Ellie wouldn't (theorising that she's sentient) Ellie would still feel exactly how we feel now. And the only way to really deliver on that is the way that they did. The first instance I had to play as Abby, I killed myself in game, as many ways as possible before continuing the story, I'm talking a good hour and half of just killing her! And I would do that every time I HAD to play as her.. ( a point to ponder) The story was way to forced and some times just not engaging at all, but that might of been down to a change in writers (or something similar) and could've been a lot better if given time to and resources to do so, however that would've meant putting off the game and re-writing, shooting and animating complete sections of the story by the time they realised they'd cut something trivial to them but important to us. Or maybe there's gonna be a LOUSIII to round off the story and we finally get to kill or join her or save her, or where she a lev are the main characters judging from the effort put into their character designed, Abby resembling a very, very strong woman (As by the way, if that scenario was actually played out and she was as active as made out in the game her body would become what we consider more masculine as it would adapt to the environment for any of you "ahh she's to manly") and Levs... Chosen identity. I strongly believe we'll be seeing more of them. Also as for the music, I only noticed the similarities myself when listening to the original and the 2nd back to back and got confused as to which was playing. Think Gustavo done us proud. Especially with the feels contained inside the pieces that do indeed convey the feelings of the characters at any moment in game. I can listen to his music all day. Bear Mcreary does a brilliant job on the GOW ost too, check it out if you haven't although I'm inclined to think you may have already if you're here :). I mean, I don't want to contradict because it's completely possible but "Longing" it's composed for Abby and Lev, it's their theme, Longing (redemptions) sounds when Abby finds peace with her dad through the redemption she was able to achieve thanks to helping Yara and Lev, it's her theme that simbolyze her inner fight, "Allowed to be happy" is for Abby and Owen it represents their love and their relationship as well. The one that's actually for Joel and Ellie is "Unbroken".
Love that you can tell the difference between Mac Quayle's music and Gustavo Santaolalla's. Very much the opposite emotions portrayed, which then you can tell which part of the game its in.
Can't wait to play this on a PS5. I loved TLoU Remastered (played it and finished for the first time this year), and I'm ready to accept whatever Part II is, good or bad, I don't care.

Tlou 2 is the most subjective video game I've ever seen. You either love it or hate it, there's rarely anyone in between. Like the comment above me said, whether you like it or not, it's special, and unique, it tells its story in a way no other game has done before. Very emotional game, but not always in a good way, and that's the beauty of it.

I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsushima right now after finishing TLOU2 and I still just can't get over this game and music. It just hits me in so many ways. What a beautifully dark story. It will take me a long time to recover from this game and I love it.
P.S. For years I was against the sequel, because I knew we will pay the price if we have a chance to experience that world again. One part of the community just can't handle it. Maybe he (Neil) should have saved that for Part III, but that doesn't make it any more less than a masterpiece.😢😉

Can't wait to play this on a PS5. I loved TLoU Remastered (played it and finished for the first time this year), and I'm ready to accept whatever Part II is, good or bad, I don't care.

Tlou 2 is the most subjective video game I've ever seen. You either love it or hate it, there's rarely anyone in between. Like the comment above me said, whether you like it or not, it's special, and unique, it tells its story in a way no other game has done before. Very emotional game, but not always in a good way, and that's the beauty of it.
J'ai eu une période où ma vie était un enfer lorsque je mettais mis sur last of us, malgré tout c'est une belle expérience qui m'a appris beaucoup. Votre son prends vie.
This masterpiece was released in 2013. 2023 and I'm still waiting for the sequel and I still love this saga. Like if you're a fan of TLOU.

Still a great game, but it’s not comparable to GTA / Elder Scrolls in that regard.
I hate the game but I love the soundtrack a lot and the flashbacks kept me to the game and the ones who worked on the visuals are pure artists and it really entertained my eye balls

I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsushima right now after finishing TLOU2 and I still just can't get over this game and music. It just hits me in so many ways. What a beautifully dark story. It will take me a long time to recover from this game and I love it.

the second that music starts man......whooosh. back in that world immediately. never have a ever played a game like either one of these. they are BOTH amazing in their own way. pieces of art. we are lucky we got to be a part of this gaming history. there are no other games that make you feel the way these do. if you havent played them yet, its never too late - go right now! Yo naci en el 2008 y jugar el the last of us 1 fue lo mejor y jugar la parte 2 fue lo maximo por su detalle y por su historia y se que murio yoel pero el juego trata de asimilar como en la vida real no es como uncharter que caen de un risco y viven y que tengan muchos enemigos que lo amenazen y tengan superfuerza y al final le ganan en el juego tratan como en la vida real

The last Of Us 1/2 é um jogo foda que meche com seus sentimentos. quando o Joel Foi assassinado eu fiquei com tanto ódio da Abby, más o tempo foi passando e quando eu terminei de assistir eu entendi tudo, más ai depois bateu uma tristeza pq eu só lembrava do Joel, Mano eu quase tive depressão por causa desse jogo. eu chorava toda noite quando lembrava dele, isso tudo durou 5 meses eu lutei e lute e consegui superar um pouco, Más eu nunca vou superar a morte do Joel essa é a verdade pq eu perdi alguém muito importante da minha vida.
Esse jogo é só para quem não tem sentimento pq quem tem esse jogo meche com suas emoções.

The last of us 1 was about A very Strong relationship between a "father" and his daughter but naughty dog Crached what made this game so special "the relationship" and let ellie go on her own in that world
It could be far far more better if the story was about getting the relationship stronger instead of killing Joel like a pig
