I finally managed to teach myself how to play bar chords two years ago. Marty Schwartz couldn't save me so I was forced to learn on my own. For anybody still having trouble with bar chords, I recommend trying to play power chords until you learn play bar chords. Power chords are easier and they sound cooler. Power chords will teach you to move up and down the fretboard. I should mention that I am not a teacher and I am just making suggestions based on what worked for me. What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa.
I would also use your right arm (left for lefties) to sort of push the guitar body into your torso, which in levers the fretboard into your fretting hand
When i first started playing guitar i chose to brute force my way through those early stages and what helped most with learning barre chords was playing a lot of grunge and rock type music. By far the easiest to pick up and play for this kind of exercise are songs by Nirvana or Foo Fighters. At least those are the ones that helped me the most. Once you get good at it try playing some stuff by Tommy Emmanuel. A lot of his songs include some pretty creative and flavorful (as in musically) use of barre chords. Plus in general you’ll learn a lot of useful tricks and techniques from his style of play.
Bro as a violinist occasionally we’ll have to do chords with barring our first or second finger and I didn’t know this was a difficult thing for guitarists lmao
The wider neck and thicker strings make it tough for beginners on acoustic. Bar chords are super easy on electric and any intermediate guitarist should play them on acoustic no problem. No disrespect to violinists though, that is a hard fucking instrument.
but my tip especially for younger players I recommend playing barre chords repeatedly, and play around by making the A and E shape on multiple frets until you can make a little tune, it'll be slow, but it'll help you train your index
I started playing guitar recently, bar chords dont seem too bad, but i always happen to miss the third string because of the crease on my finger, what do i do about that
Wdym? He looked at the camera for the majority of it (except when looking at his guitar), and his vocal inflection is good enough since it's a teaching topic and not needing drama. There's no issues with understanding so what's the problem?

You can also use Creep by Radiohead
I tried and it’s still hard for me 😭
Creep is such a good workout for bar chords. That song is tiring on acoustic
yep, thats what i did, it only took about a week, im pretty good with bar chords now. it took long enough, ive been playing for a month 😭
Also pop is dead
Boulevard of broken dreams is another good one
I would recommend starting with electric guitar over acoustic because you don’t have to apply as much pressure
Good teaching my friend ❤ it's great

Look at the camera not at yourself. It makes it’s more personal. Also, practice vocal inflection.

@@noyou2114 he was looking at himself in the phone, not at the camera, which is the audience. its vanity, not education.
If you struggle with bar chords yiu better pick up the bass.
"if youre not immediately good at a new instrument, quit"
Try finger but hole.

Barre** Chords
both spellings are correct
I am still spelling it as Bar chords. Actually, scratch that, I am spelling it Baargh Kordz.
