After the defeat of the French Middle Guard, their army broke and the Anglo-Allied and Prussian forces pushed them back. The Prussians took the Belle Alliance and wanted the battle to be called that, but Wellington wanted the more English sounding name of 'Waterloo' where his headquarters were.
The Prussian diplomat who proclaimed ''The confederation is dissolved'' to the confederation council and walking out after being threatened with war must have felt (and looked) like the biggest badass of his time.
Fun fact: The only lost German flag🇩🇪 in the franco-Prussian war was captured by Joseph Garibaldi🇮🇹 in the battle of Dijon. The Italian general at the head of an irregular army made out of volunteers from all around the world (most of them were Italians, Polish🇵🇱 and Americans🇺🇸) with this battle shocked everyone so much that even Bismarck himself asked to have Garibaldi’s head brought to him (he failed). The event is so unknown today because Garibaldi’s enemies in Italy did everything they could to advertise the event as little as possible and the French were outraged that the only one that managed to achieve such goal was an old Italian man with arthritis (even though they still keep that flag in a museum today)

But the law of Germany reqired a permission to build a building on any land, and Bismarck's germanization policy made it impossible for not germanised Drzymała to build the house. However he had an idea - he bought an old circus wagon to live in, and every day he was moving it a bit, so it wouldnt stood to long in one place and wouldn't be seen as a building. For four years, Drzymała was fighting this way with german administration over the land, looking for loopholes, untill they finaly confiscated his wagon. So Drzymała have build a mudhut, but it was demolished over stupid reason. So finaly he had to sell his land and bought another place, with old ruined house. Lucky for him, he didn't needed an approval of the administration to fix it. His 4 year legal war and his wagon became a symbol of polish resistance against the germanisation, and against the policy of Bismarck.
It is important to mention, that Wilhelm I. title was "german emperor" and not "emperor of germany". For the monarchs of the other german states it was important to show, that although they were part of the German Empire, the emperor had no absolute authority in their inner affairs.

Tbh, the 1793 Borders of France didn't really make much sense, Alsace Lorraine had been part of the HRE for like over 800 years. Plus it gave them some strategic territory.

Also the HRE had italian territories until it's dissolution, so it would have make sense to have northern Italy as german territories ? Plus, it was a strategic disaster since it made the french third republic a mortal ennemy that managed to form a coalition against Germany. The same coalition that killed the German Empire.
