Bluestar's Prophecy - Trip Through Time (30) | Warriors Analysis

- Bluestar’s Prophecy…a monumental entry in the Warriors world, both for the creators and fandom, if ever there was one. This is an emotionally and culturally rich and highly beloved story…so I hope you will forgive me if I still have my issues, whether in the shallow romance, the continued role of sexism and religion in removing agency in this world, and the choices made in the background that would impact how authors and fans alike would view not just future material, but the past as well…and not always in a good way.

Thank you to DuplexBeGreat and Lightflame for compiling the line-counts for the series I used in calculating this book’s statistics.
Bluestar’s Prophecy is by far one of the best Warrior Cat books in my opinion. I wish that all the books in the series were this detailed, emotional, and had wayyyy less fillers and more small character moments.
@@Hhh_373 seconding this!! Ily tallstar’s revenge
@@Hhh_373 errm hi 👋
The Gathering scene where she meets Crookedpaw is by far my favorite part of the book
Bluestar's Prophecy is like the perfect microcosm of Warriors' best moments and weird retcon decisions, and everyone has their own wild take on it. It's a treasured part of WC history.
I wish that her and crookedstar became mates in secret, instead of her and Oakheart. They both had such a good chemistry. I loved them on the gatherings when they both were apprentices and warriors
22:34 Hard disagree. Making Whitestorm her nephew enhances their relationship. You can be friends with your family. They clearly cared a lot about each other and I find Bluefur taking care of her nephew and watching over him, shaping him into the noble warrior he becomes, is great. After everything, Whitestorm basically returned the favor by taking care of her in her ailing years. It’s beautiful. In a series where secondary familial relationships are often forgotten, it’s nice to have one as strong as Bluestar and Whitestorm.
I have my own issues with Bluestar’s Prohecy but Whitestorm being her nephew is the one thing I love about this book. That and Goosefeather.
Plus it was revealed he was her nephew in Secrets of the Clans.
Edit: Them being “old friends” is just so boring. So I’m glad the Erins did something more impactful and meaningful with them. Sorry but I’m really passionate about this one thing. I have a lot of emotions about Bluestar and her family and her story so…
You put it perfectly, them being kin enhances their their relationship soo much more. Of course the one downside is, we can't ship them anymore, but I digress, bluestar and whitestorm have a better relationship as aunt and nephew than some characters have as parent and child.
I agree! And it in a way also explains why Bluestar never picked Whitestorm are her deputy after Lionheart and Tigerclaw were gone. Whitestorm was the obvious choice but she chose Fireheart and in a way this explains it. Nepotism. Did the Erin’s plan rhat? Definitely not but i enjoy the idea. Because honestly, Whitestorm deserved to be deputy way longer than what he got.
it kills even more of the clan's genetic diversity is my only significant complaint
This is the correct take
i'm so glad it's not just me that feels this way djfjdf
One of my favorite warriors books. Next to Tallstar’s revenge. This book never made me cry like that one did, but man does it hit hard. I’m doing a book report on it, mainly focused on how many strange double standards are placed on bluestar and other female characters for no real reason. It’s something i’m very passionate about and whether or not it was intentional, the message this book conveys about that kind of stuff is really interesting
Can i just say, the parallels between Mapleshade and Bluestar are much more apparent than Mapleshade and sandstorm.
Both had cross boarders romance. Both have kits. And both in a way were isolated from their clans. Bluestar with having cut herself off every time her family passed into self isolation. Mapleshade being a narcissist and isolating herself in a way by thinking she was above her clan.
But the main difference between their histories is their personalities. Bluestar’s though difficult and cold when upset never lead her clans to doubt her loyalty. She was loved and cared for and even her cross boarders lover genuinly felt things for her and wanted to stay with her. While Mapleshade forced to get everything she wanted and was greatly disliked for it.
Its not a 1 to 1 parralel but definitely much better than Mapleshade being envious and pissy at Sandstorm. Sorry probably not the place for it but brain kinda got caught on that thought.
It always confused me how Bluefur was forced to give up her kits for the sake of becoming deputy when in the future Squirrelflight was able to keep her position while giving birth to Alderheart and Sparkpelt!
Might’ve been a new team thing, or maybe even because Squilf was already deputy before she had her litter, but it always made me frustrated about the double standards!!
I always figured that since this is in the past, maybe they're playing off of old-timey sensibilities where it was t acceptable for women to work and be mothers/married?? Best guess
Bluestar's Prophecy is the first Super Edition I've ever read, it's absolutely great.
To be honest though, I don't like the transition where she immediately becomes the leader in a chapter (To which I forget), and the book summarizes that Sunstar died recently. I feel like they should've included that part in (As in they should've included a part of the book where the reader can read about the fight happening). Would it make the book longer? Yes. But it would make the book even better too.
I wish we could have seen Bluefur interact more with Oakheart since IMO she had more chemistry with Crockedstar than she did with Oakheart. I know their relationship wasn't long but it didn't make much sense to me that Bluestar who experience grief so young would intentionally split up her family knowing that would break her heart.
I'm un-canonizing Bluefur/Oakheart in favor of Bluefur/Crookedjaw. Would make sense as to why Bluestar's kits are all dying tragically. Mistystar, however, does a 180 on that curse and becomes practically immortal instead.
And then Bluestar's insanity could also be attributed to the fact that Crookedstar took on a mate in his own Clan and had Silverstream. And then she has to watch one of her warriors fall for her, and then get blamed when Silverstream dies giving birth. Then the kits, instead of being Mistystar's uncle's daughter's kits, would just be her niece and nephew from her half sister.
This was my favorite book to reread while waiting for the next release! But there are some retcons and weird additions to the series that don't hold up.
Though I'll never forgive that one old author's statement that said thistleclaw initially went to starclan and was chased out by Bluestar.
I think a lot of family tree grossness could have been avoided if the writers would say "this character's never before seen parents were a passing loner/kittypet/member of another clan". Not only do the family trees not become circles, but there have to he more halfclan relationships that just flew under the radar.
Love this art! Big chunky Crookedpaw next to Bluepaw is so cute lol.
Bluestar's Prophecy is not free of flaws, but it's still my all time favorite book in the series! Super happy you're finally covering it!
Bluestar's Prophecy is a certified hood classic
I remember going into reading Bluestar’s prophecy and knowing Moonflower will die. But I did not expect how it was going to happen the emotional POV that Bluepaw portrayed. Was so heartbreaking it’s literally the only death I ever cried to.
Bluestar’s Prophecy and Crookedstar’s Promise are both in my top 5 Warriors books. There’s just something about how these books feel that’s really special.
They both have their problems of course like all the books do, but I think the quality outweighs the problems.
Haha I love the expression on Sunfall's face in the art. That scene with them getting shushed was really funny
This has always been my favorite super edition it means a lot to me, bluestar just does in General to me. I’m happy you did this amazing book onto your amazing series
I did a book report on this when I was in 3rd grade, the year it released. Honestly one of the few Super Editions that still holds up.
Honestly, the biggest gripe I have with this Super Edition is that the second half relies on too many time skips. So much tine is devoted in the first half to Bluefur's kithood, apprenticeship, and young warriorhood. Then after Snowfur's death, we just skim over most Bluefur's life. We don't see her train Frostpaw, despite it being an important step to her becoming deputy. We don't get glimpse into Whitestorm's apprenticeship, as it would have been nice to see what Blue thought of it. And I think it was an especially missed opportunity to gloss over her deputyhood, as we could've seen both what she thought of her kits growing up in Riverclan as well as the tensions between her and Thistleclaw firsthand, instead of it just being told to us. Really, I feel like events in general could've (and probably should've) been switched around to make things more cohesive and expanded on, especially with Bluefur and Oakheart's relationship. I would've been nice to see how Bluefur's ambition and determination would have progressed had she been given more agency. At one point, I even got the sense that she might decide to do something more questionable to reach her goals (which is unthinkable for her olderself, but made sense for her youth), but it ended up being ignored.
On a side note, I ended up developing this headcanon in which it was revealed to be Thistleclaw who had inspired Tigerclaw to become leader by any means necessary. The ending seemed to imply that, but I think that Thistleclaw had gotten his own novella (and not the garbage that was Spottedleaf's Heart), it would've made for a nice reveal. Perhaps, because he was jealous Bluestar hogging Whitestorm's attention, Thistleclaw came to view Tigerclaw as his real son, and decided to plant the seeds of ambition within his apprentice in order to get his revenge on Bluestar.
This book was amazing. It had a hand in making Bluestar my favorite character.
So happy you've made a video about this book:D
I absolutely loved the book when i read it the first time and its nice to come back to it years later
Glad to see you reviewing my fave super edition! (aside from yellowfangs secret :3)
Oh no
@@Moony1568SKSKS

Ahhh you made me relive reading the book! Thank you
Yes,the story really brings out some important aspects
❤❤❤❤
Fresh POVs in the next series. We getevey old Pov
As much as I love Bluestar's prophecy and how it was written, i really hate what it did the Bluestar's character in the first series.

Goosefeather is the crappiest uncle ever.
Request: can you do Mothflights vision next? Mithflight is my favorite and its a good book.
She‘s doing the official release date of the books, so Mothflights Vision won‘t come any time soon.
Bluestar's prophecy is My favorite book Of the saga
It was the first warrior book that I ever owned
As someone who had at one timelow key shipped bluestar and whitestorm that was a very unpleasant shock lemme tell you. Ugh.
This was always one of my favorite Warriors books. I think the Gravity of Love AMV got me into it lmao I never liked that they made Whitestorm Bluestar's nephew though, really weird choice.
The sickness did not kill sweetpaw it put her in a coma and she got buried alive, that's what killed her
That was just a made up fact, sweetpaw did die from sickness.
@@averyreece6253op is probably like 11 I used to believe that shit too
Very old misinformation lol
