  • This video is a recap of my installation of a swivel seat, hinges and soft latch that I installed on my Striker Skiff. The Striker Skiff is sold by Nirvana Watersports. But is the same model as the Hoodoo Hero 130 and the MK13. They are similar to a Solo Skiff hull! But lighter. Also comes with an aluminum heavy duty transom, floor matt, H Rails included and also some accessories tracks making it a great deal. Also included is a paddle and a rod holder. Yes, this is not a Solo Skiff,, but damn close to it and for the price is an excellent deal.
    I will be making this seat base out of aluminum 1/4” flat sheet and powder coat black for better appearance and performance. I will be making more videos of the mount base and also other add on I will be installing and will have available for sale. So stay tune! Thanks for watching and please subscribe. Tight line and have fun 👍🏼

    That’s badass great work thanks for sharing.
    I purchased a scout inflatable 430 only because there wasn’t much videos of this skiff until now. Looks great. how does it handle in rougher waters at sea?

      Thanks Michael. How do you like the Scout 430 and what motor are you using? I think this skiff is a great bargain for what you get. Also the light weight makes it very user friendly. I only took couple big wakes from couple of boats (maybe two footers) and did awesome. Water came from the top and right to the back like nothing ever happened. Is awesome. Hopefully I will take it one day on a bad day and make a video. Thanks for watching and for the comment. 👍🏼

      @@spanglishangler i purchase tahatsu 6hp outboard 15” short shaft and only put 8hrs on it so I havnt opened it 100% throttle yet. But it does very well in the ocean and lakes. I fished for kelp at the ketty with it 1-2ft swells so cal area. If it’s choppy it’s a bumpy ride but handles. Just fold her up when I’m done. I might pick up one of these skiffs later on because it’s rigid and looks sporty to.

    Beautiful small boat 🚤 love it! In your opinion it is recommended for two adults about 350 pounds total? Thank you 🙏

      Frank, I think the skiff is rated for one person. But I can't see any problems handling two people. Definitely uncomfortable to fish with two people! but doable. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    Is the striker the same as the solo are they different sizes are they made by the same people what's the story on that

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 роки тому

      The Striker and the Solo are totally different vessels. I was looking for new Solo Skiff. But they stopped making them years ago. Reasons why I went to check something else similar and ended up checking out the Striker Skiff (Hoodoo 130/BK13). All 3 of them are the same just imported by different importers. The Solo is made in good USA. While the Striker is made in China (I know,, but hey, is well made and the price is just right). Both are very similar on length and width. But weight is definitely different The Solo is super heavy compared to the Striker (I think 150lb on the Solo VS 105 on the Striker). That was a big win for the Striker in my opinion. But the Solo is made with a thicker high density polyethylene, while the Striker Skiff is made with a lighter single piece of rotomolded polyethylene. Making the Solo stronger (hull) but obviously heavier. Is really what’s best for you and what you prefer. Thanks for watching and the comment and hope this was helpful.

    that seat is kinda high ....How is your center of gravity when you make turns...? Because you put yourself about 5-7 inches above the lid...I have the same skiff, different brand....and planning to do some upgrades, but gonna be raising the seat a little bit at the time...One last thing, make sure you run a backing plate under the lid...that way the bolts are not gonna go thru the lid itself due to tour movement on the seat... nice job. tomorrow I'm going to fill the lids with foam, to make them less flimsy

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 роки тому

      I though of the same thing. But after riding this thing couple of times already! I feel very comfortable and do not feel like I am losing any balance due to the seat height. From the lid to the top of the seat is 5.5". I think it also helps that I am a small/medium frame body (5'7"and 170lb) and coming from more smaller and unstable kayaks! This is definitely an upgrade. The backing plate is a good idea. I have large washers but extra larger material will definitely help. Let me know how that foam filling goes. Thanks for watching and the comment.

      Thanks David for watching and the comment. Top bolt is 1.5". While the bottom I used the same bolt that came already holding the bungee cord.

    What are the dimensions of the hinges you used? I'm looking at doing this to my hoodoo hero but with a Millennium seat. You should check out mounting a hobie h-bar, having a grab bar made this boat so much more fun for me.

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 роки тому

      They are 3" tall x 1.5" wide. Check the description and link under my comments on the video. I was looking at a H bar nd still waiting for them to be in stock at my local shop. But after using this skiff 3 or 4 times! not sure if I really want to add one. I know it will help a lot when on the go! but one more thing to be on the way when casting and fishing. Lets see, I haven't decided yet but thanks for the comment and recommendation.

    • @shawnsmith2542
      @shawnsmith2542 2 роки тому +1

      Appreciate it man, I run the h-bar so I can stand, and drive. I also like it to stand on the front hatch, lean against the bar, and cast. It's a personal preference thing, but I think having a solid anchor to the boat makes it seem a lot more stable.

    What size bolts did you use for the star board mount to the seat base. And what size did you use for the swivel seat mount sincked to the star board??

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 роки тому

      They are 6MM size. The length depends of the thickness of the starboard you use. In this case I went with ½” longer than the starboard. For the seat, use a flat head bolt to be able to be flush when countersink, and again, it all depends of the thickness of the starboard you use. So if you use a ¾” king starboard! Use an 1” or 1.25” screw length. Let me know if you need more information and thanks for watching and the comment.

      Hello there. Yes, I can still make the aluminum plate (powder coat black if needed). Prices has gone up on aluminum and raw material like you can imagine and would need to find pricing of the material first. But I am guessing it would be from $150 to $175 to remake this aluminum plate with the bevel corners. Let me know if interested and thanks for watching.
