From the Manger: Joy Grows
Scripture Readings: Zephaniah 3:14-20; Luke 19:1-10; Luke 2:8-20
This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent. Advent means “coming,” and in these four weeks prior to Christmas we prepare for the celebration of God’s coming into the world in baby Jesus. This Advent our theme “From the Manger” helps us unpack the symbol of the manger in which the baby Jesus is laid down to sleep in the town of Bethlehem. A manger is a feeding trough, and Bethlehem means “House of Bread.” The baby born in a bread town continues to feed a hungry world today. This Sunday, from the manger, joy grows.
