    Great dedication and prep for the Beacons Trail Marathon! Replicating those hills and elevation locally is a smart move. Best of luck in the race, and enjoy breaking in those new shoes, Ben!

      Thanks very much Mihai! I thought it seemed like a good idea. Planning on getting some more hills in this weekend but not as much distance. Thanks for watching buddy! 😎🤘

    Nice one Ben, solid run in there 💪 and thanks for the shout out. Watching this brought back lots of memories (and flashbacks!) of the Copthorne race. I think Canary Trail Events had an orienteering and navigation event over the weekend so that's why they had the markers up and the couple of people that were looking at a map you saw I'm guessing were taking part in it. Hope the rest of the prep for the Beacons Marathon goes well, looking good! 👍

      Ben and Ben ... two of my biggest inspirations for getting into ultra trail running!!! I just passed 5000km for the year yesterday Ben!!! I did it with an awesome 31km, 400m+ Sunday and 26km, 500m+ Saturday and 26km, 300m+ Friday!! I'm so moved and happy and kinda amazed with myself ... I was so nervous setting that goal for the year and here it is October AND totally injury free!! I wanna thank you so much for your inspiration, and Carla too!!! The inspiration on youtube has changed my life!!! 😃🎉🏃🏻‍♀💪🏻

      Cheers Ben! Loved the Copthorne course. It's got me thinking about 2024 for sure. Certainly would have benefited from poles. Yeah they left me a comment on Instagram about the nav day. They said they spotted me running around 🤣 Thanks for watching mate! 😎🤘

    Beautiful filming Ben - hard enough to do without all the backwards and forwards stuff! 📽️ Have eyed that event with caution before and it does look like you need to be in good shape to enjoy it properly 😂 Thanks Ben 🏃🏻‍♂️🤘

      Cheers Michael! Not sure why we do all the silly running backwards and forwards 🤣 It does sound like a proper challenge but it could be a contender for a 2024 event. Thanks for watching bud! 😎🤘

    Two upturned cars looked like it was a bit of a surprise! Good job with getting some elevation in Ben, the best way to train for hills is by getting out in them. Looking at the mud on your legs reminds me, that I need to clean mine a bit better, as my shower yesterday obviously was a bit slapdash!

    • @BenNotley
      @BenNotley  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it was a bit weird because I didn't see a nearby road on the map either so I think they had fallen quite a way and then they had just been left there. 🤣 hope you remember to give your legs a good scrub mate 🤣👍

    Some smashing views in this vid Ben. Great edits too. Wise choice going after some elevation with the trail marathon in 3weeks.
    Luckily you weren't standing in that exact spot when does cars came down. Satan's staircase is gonna hurt. 😂

    Not only running 58km with almost 1300m gain, BUT setting up the camera too for all those great shots, Ben, I would find that tiring, and you STILL managed 6:38 pace!!! You're a marvel!! I did 31km myself yesterday, 400m gain, but no cushy steps for me on my challenging trails!😂 I went out in my Speedgoat 5s too and yep VERY slippery, not just in the mud but on the stones too, so I was kinda disappointed in their performance that way ... I guess it's kinda the price to pay for shoes that are also so comfy on the roads, however on Saturday (22km) I found the Asics Trabuco Max way better in those conditions and still very nice on the roads!! Is that the Mafate Speed 4 you chose there? AWESOME!!!! I'm sooo looking forward to your take on those!!!!

    • @BenNotley
      @BenNotley  10 місяців тому +1

      Cheers Bev! Sounds like you have been absolutely smashing it!!! I have just clocked over 4.1k K this year so I am way behind you! Yeah I thought I would give the Mafate a go just to see if they work better than the speedgoats but so far I must say I can't notice much difference apart from the level of grip and comfort on road. Mafate is much better in sloppy conditions but the lugs make it less comfortable on roads. Thanks for watching Bev! 😎🤘

    Wow 6+ hour runs. Most "big" UA-camrs would take a few mates and have a laugh going slower for a lot shorter but with references to stellar goal pace periods and tricky climbs off the bridge off a canal. And a few familiar to me places on this route. Even odd glimpses of Tarmac :) Is it suitable for Vaporflys or should I consult that video where somebody does 2 strides in 10 trail shoes and declares them all too expensive? Or maybe I could use the code mentioned and get your Hokas ?

    • @BenNotley
      @BenNotley  10 місяців тому

      That run was a lot of fun. I was shattered by the end. The lack of fuelling killed me in the end. Can't beat a good flat canal run to train for these "brutal" courses. Not ure the vaporflys will be suitable for that course mate I would see what bargains you can get online I am sure there must be some good discounts out there somewhere 🤣
