  • Do you have a calling as a woman in ministry or in leadership and are facing opposition and resistance? If God called you, He will make a way!
I’m always in awe at the stories that I hear from other women in ministry. Some knew their calling from early on. Others, like me, found themselves “unintentionally” entering into ministry and how my ambitions and desires changed over time because of God’s call in my life. No one said this would be easy. That’s why I share my stories in order to encourage you. I remember how I:
    • Faced rejection from seminary
    • Was asked to step down from leadership roles
    • Encountered opposition and resistance along the way
    • Understood my calling and committed to personal growth
Despite the challenges, I want you to know that if God calls you, He will make a way. My commitment is to God and to sharing His word. Don’t let difficulties hold you back from the good future that has already been prepared for you. Stay away from comparison and surround yourself with truth-tellers that will help you persevere and not give up.
Friend, it all starts with you. Remember: Be what you want to see! Share your story of perseverance by tagging me @biancaolthoff.

    Quote
Don't compare your calling to someone else's. Do what the Lord has called you to do and let Him do the rest.
    Takeaways
    1. God's calling often unfolds gradually and unexpectedly, and it may require us to step out of our comfort zones.
    2. Rejection and opposition can be discouraging, but they should not deter us from pursuing our calling.
    3. Women in ministry often face unique challenges and may encounter resistance from both men and women.
    4. If God calls you, He will make a way for you to fulfill your purpose.
    5. Preaching the word of God should be the focus, regardless of gender or societal expectations. Representation and inclusion are crucial in leadership spaces, and efforts should be made to invite and welcome diverse voices.
    6. Men should take responsibility for creating an inclusive and respectful environment for women in leadership.
    7. Women in leadership face unique challenges, including the pressure to navigate communication and appearance expectations.
    8. Leadership is not easy, but it requires perseverance and a commitment to personal growth.
    9. Women should find their voice and be patient, understanding that their calling may take time to fully develop.
    10. Surrounding oneself with truth-tellers and receiving constructive criticism is essential for personal and leadership growth.
    11. Individuals should strive to be the change they want to see in the world, creating a more inclusive and equitable environment.

Wow thank you for paving the way for other women in ministry. You are one of the few pastors I feel is relevant, relatable, authentic and genuine. I love your heart and your dedication to the kingdom.
Thank you for sharing your story about being in ministry the good, bad and ugly times. It saddens me that those critics couldn’t see the potential in you. I am so thankful that you didn’t let it stop you and that you keep pursuing your calling.
    Thank you @BiancaJuarezOlthoff

Excellent word Bianca! Thank you! And that last part about being called out was timely. I have been the one getting called out and I have done some calling out. And I have also been afraid to call out because there is a very real fear of rejection. But there is a time and place to call out those I love…and the truths of the “why” of bringing correction is absolutely true. I don’t want those I love to fall off into a ditch. Of course, how they receive it is another thing altogether. Being led by the Spirit is so important!

So relatable Bianca. My rejection came in the form of being a SINGLE woman in ministry. Being over 50, or even 40, and not married is perceived as a blemish sometimes, and not one to be made public. I led so many ministries behind the scenes, but when God began to call me forward, I felt alone. ❤️‍🩹
