- At some point in our lives, most of us have silenced our own voice...Be it
at home, at school, at work or in our communities. Why do we do that?
With an inspiring and emotional story, Parisa Khosravi, a veteran award
winning journalist and executive, talks about the power of finding your
voice. Parisa shares her personal journey about giving voice to the
voiceless.
Parisa Khosravi had a front row seat to almost every major world news event
for the past three decades. She and her family immigrated to the U.S. from
Iran in 1979. She pursued journalism in school and was recruited by CNN,
working her way up from an entry-level position to senior vice president
for Ted Turner at the world's first 24/7 news network. Khosravi has
received numerous distinguished awards for her journalism and civic
activities and now owns a consulting company and speaks to audiences about
a variety of topics from Iran and Cuba to effective global leadership,
women in the workforce, journalism and team building.

My 28 year old is learning S2C. He began when he was 26. He is working hard to unlock his voice. Please pray for us to be the best support possible.
You asked why we become silenced? Why? I think the reason we become silenced is when we loose hope and love. Payam has an incredible love, hope and support of his mother. She is an hero and voice of voiceless in her own way. She has a generous deep love, gentle soul and spirit.

For those wanting more information about the Rapid Prompting Method - it was developed by Soma Mukhopadhyay who developed it by working with her own son Tito. I am another parent whose son has found his voice using RPM - I set up a parent support facebook group to empower other parents to learn about this - called Unlocking Voices - Using RPM.

I agree with the people who call her Mother Parisa. Having 20 minutes worth of words is impressive, but giving us 20 minutes of deep feelings is priceless.
My eyes teared up as many times as Parisa'. Today, 5 years later, I can imagine Payam becoming a powerful messenger of the need to see everyone at several layers deep.
This is the level it will take to bring together a clear and practical vision that most humans can become enrolled in, to modify the headings that superficial "knowledge" is taking us toward.

Such a great video. And, I can assure you, many, many people have similar experiences. Our family has a very similar story. At 14, my son began first, pointing to letter, and eventually typing on a keyboard. What we have found is that, what is holding my son back is a lack of motor control, (he thinks of what he wants to make his body do, but can't make his body do it).

What a powerful message to humanity. I am speechless, yet filled with power to speak! Payam, is a prophet of our time.
I've witnessed this "giving voice to the voiceless" firsthand, specifically through spelling to communicate with one brilliantly amazing young adult whose voice has been unbridled finally after years inside the trap of autism. Not only almost spiritual as with Payam, but also with others, including those finding their voices through childhood apraxia of speech or even because of communication challenges within society's "preconceived ideas...perceiving [the voiceless] as capable learners." --- Payam or "message" in Farsi
Only a mother, okay a parent, can exceed all levels of patience and unconditional love that empowers their child to their fullest! It's true. Research has just started listening to these masters of faith, parents, in directing their work. RPM is amazing.

I was searching on UA-cam about "how to find your voice in life" and I didn't expect to find such inspirational and beautiful story .. even though I know he will not read this comment .. but I have to thank him .. so, thank you Payam you are such a beautiful person .. you changed my day today to be better and opened my mind .. Exactly the same for me and I found this wonderful video expanding my understanding of finding the power of my voice.
This talk is so moving! The dedication Parisa shows to helping her son Payam is awesome! My first thought when I saw Payam patiently and confidently spelling out what he was thinking, is that a letterboard could be a great help in any conflict resolution. Often in argument or disagreement neither person can hear or wants to hear what either is saying. With a letterboard and someone there to act as a recorder of each side's views, it's possible things could be resolved more easily. Parisa and Payam are such Warrior Souls who have taken on immense challenges to show that communication, compassion and emotional intelligence aren't limited to or by the use of spoken words. A friend sent me this link, I didn't even bother to read her text. I've seen and heard it all... Today she called me and ORDERED me to watch. Every word your spoke, every thought...feeling and emotion you shared was exactly me! This is my life and I pray that this is the miracle I have been waiting on. Thank you Ms. Khosravi for your talk. The journey of families is always different, but you have beautifully described your son in the way we'd all like to describe our children and how we would like others to see our children. Like all of us, articulate and not, our kiddos are human beings with all the needs, wants and desires all humans share.
