Brilliantly done my friend, with the tools you had lots of people would have given up.I love the way Nemo i playing with your tools, I did that at his age and it was the beginning of a fantastic career
Nice video. Love Timo saying that building chainplates is "just carpentry"! Amazing how he fits himself into those tight spaces with a respirator on. And Nemo looks like such a happy kid. You're clearly doing something right...

haha yes Nemo is already in training hehe. Yes using heat would have been a good idea but we didn't have an easy way to do this at the time (we were in a bit of a hurry)
Two famous Italian scientist Luigi Galvani and Alessandro Volta described what happens to dissimilar metals in salt water. A stainless steel bolt through aluminum plate will seize.
Are you just relying on the Sikaflex to keep water out of the deck core? I thought you might have sealed the core around the deck penetration with thickened epoxy.

Hey thanks Andy great to hear from you - yeah Nemo LOVES tools haha, as soon as timo gets the spanners out you can see his eyes light up 😉
Super strong chain plate ready for some heavy weather sailing.
Exactly 💪🏻
That is one serious chain-plate! Great work! :-)
Cheers Simon 🍻 good to hear from you :)

If I sign up for the Patreon, will you promise to spend some money on safety glasses and hearing protection XD
Absolutely!!! And you are very right, timo apologises for giving a bad example, he promises to try harder to be sure to wear safety gear 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏🙏
Clock battery needs replacing. Lovely videos

Thanks Hugh :)
Nice work, well done.

Nemo will be a real asset in a few years. Great episode! Can you use heat on the stainless for a more pliable bend?

A beast
You said it :)

Yep right so we covered the bolts with duralac for this very reason :)

Hey David, we did do exactly that, we filled it with expoxy before, but we forgot to take a video that part
maybe would have been easier to use carbon fibre as ALL race boats. eg americas cup yachts use carbon fibre as their chain plates
