A tip with the drones. When you're parked over a resource and you know there's another resource nearby, aim your vehicle in that direction. Fire off the drones. By the time you've mined the resources that you're stopped over, the drones have most likely revealed the next resource. As there's less terrain in the way due to the drones, then it takes less time to get there. Another fun thing I found is that if you set a drone off and then move to another location, eg, send the srones East before you head North, then the drones will take a direct route to return to you. As in, they'll make a diagonal path to return to you, instead of following the path they created.
The setup I ended up with for biomass and refineries was one refinery for each ore, grabbing as much bionite as possible and using three small planters in the center of the base right in front of the biomass generators, that way I can easily run to the planters, grab a total of 60 biomass per harvest (each planter has one Plant Orb in each corner and another in the center all spread out as can be) and refuel the generators. I currently have over 600 biomass in reserve over 5 hours of gameplay so far, and I have enough batteries to reach about 300 power capacity. Also decorated the base, but all the screens and everything means there is an idle load on my biomass generators, it actually pulls from the first in the row, and if more power is needed when all four refineries are going it pulls from the second and then the third. You only really need two generators to run four refineries, but with all my screens I needed three, and the third was for backup before I put in all the screens and furniture and decorations and potted plants galore, that way I could have the first generator run out and not lose much if any ore processing speed while I sprint back to fill the generators back up again and harvest yet more biomass.
The plants grow so quickly you could probably get away with only 1 planter. I built 3, but they grow that fast that I'm producing more than I use. Hoping that gets reworked before the 1.0 release
I'm NOT sure which upgrade it is, but at some point, you can have your Drones return to Home Base with a stash of Ore that you collected in your onboard Storage. If I remember correctly, you do NOT get to choose what you send, but you can see on your display the onboard count and what you send back gets subtracted from the list...
There are actually 3 drone upgrades you find out there in the demo, 1 for getting drones, 1 for offloading ores, 1 for mining with drones. Search the wrecks to find all 3.
I built my base to have 4 refiners to have one for each ore, and I just needed one biomass gen, one battery, and one small planter and that was more than enough
Episode 3 should be you just focusing on caves and wrecks if you feel like it'd be the last one in the Demo series. :3 There's plenty of caves to check out.
This game has been super fun to play, and the full game will have additional ores/levels of depth, more research,etc. I would advise everyone to check out the devs channel for his dev notes and let him know if you like the game as well.

Good play....only if the drones could deliver the ores to the base. but make the drones more expensive to make. that would be a good trade off.
They can, but he hasn't found the right tech to unlock that.

You need to explore caves. There are tech upgrades scattered around (not all caves).

I do a manual cone, start one then tap to turn slightly after each... there's also at least two more wrecks with drone tech upgrades to find.
