Ukraine is not an ally, they are a mere money laundering scheme for US Politicians as was shown by them launching an internal coup of the country back in 2014 causing the Civil War in the first place and the Hunter Biden laptop in recent years exposing that was the main reason things even eventually lead to an open civil war as well. Been moving military equipment for 4 years. Active duty hardware has maxed out storage facilities at McCord, Irwin and Yermo on the west coast. Clearing out Bliss, Sill, Collins, Carson, etc. Reserve units have ramped up field training over the last 8 months.

Selective reserve, not too unusual. The IRR, on the other hand, is beyond the pale in peacetime. The last time this happened only a tiny percentage showed up and most of those were unable to serve. The IRR are people who served in the US Military for say 3 or 4 years and still owe up to year 8 as inactive reserves so they served well and honorably but have been out of the military for years now. This did not work the last time they tried it and it will not work now. It is correctly seen as a backdoor draft of those who have already done their time, it is somebody else's turn. If the Biden Administration is successful, you think that recruiting is bad now, it will get way worse in the future.

And when it does, the Selective Service will start drawing from the 15 million 18 to 25 year olds in the system to fulfill the needs of the military. If the public does not support that, the days of the US being able to protect itself are over. (There is legislation in congress to include women in the selective service system as well, an this is likely to pass. That would add another 15 million people to the existing pool.) Service is compulsory in a lot of countries and it is accepted because it is foolish to leave yourself unprotected. Russia would own all of Europe by now if the countries there did not have compulsory service. In the UK, even the Royals typically enlist to serve their country.

@@Lukebarca Rare, yes. Odd, no. This is why there is an 8 year commitment whether they are drafted or enlisted. If they call up an IRR it is because they need to fill a specific role. You would not call up a company of people if you just needed one armorer for example. If you needed an armorer because yours was injured, and you don't have any surplus armorers, you get one from the IRR. While it may be rare, when you can't get enough people to join the army, even with enlistment bonuses of up to $40000, you get then from the reserve, regular or active. It is all the same thing to the military because everyone there volunteered to the 8 year commitment.

IRR means you have left active duty, served 4 years or more, but if the situation is really bad you can get called back into active service for whatever part of your contract remains. IRR is very rarely called up the last time was right after 9/11 happened. Activating an individual in IRR is a last resort type of thing.
Irr got called up under the trump administration, only for specific mos though
IRR has no legal obligation to answer any orders. They also cannot affect any part of your veteran status

No one in the military today was forced into the military. No one has been drafted into the military since my time (Vietnam). They signed a contract so they are there by choice and if they are a conscientious obejector, they are generally not allowed to re-enlist. So they are there by choice.

Sure they signed up for it, but the past wars have left a bad taste in the mouths of many who served in active duty, with the added salt of not getting disability. The most of the ones who are here right now didn't sign up to fight ukraines war, and aren't going to be too motivated to do so. The economy is on the decline even more right now because of these actions of leadership, but they continue even further? Willing to put our soldiers and citizens on the line? This isn't even fighting for America, this is fighting against America. The people are starting to have had enough. This isn't just an isolated event, poor leadership plagues this country and our highest authority. One day it will be the end of America as we know it.
People were forced into the military, actually.
