+Jack Heathen it might be a little pricey for what it basically is: a damn cool toy. i don't think you can do any professional work with it, or lets at least say there are other options suited better for that. but asking to price it at $500 or even $100 is just pure disregard to the quality of the product and the work that has been put in it. good things have their price, not because of 'capitalism' or because the company wants to screw you over, but because they have to cover their development and production costs, and because that's the actual value of the product. have a look at good synthesizers out there, they go into $3-4k, and deservedly so. ps: a $100 model couldn't be possibly anything else than useless, let's be real. rather save your money for something useful.

Liam Amyot I learned theory through playing the flute for a long time, and then learning other people's songs on piano at home. All of the keyboard stuff is self taught, which is why if you really tried to make me play jazz or anything serious I would not be able to do it. :) I bought the OP-1 directly through Teenage Engineering's website.
ok, one more question (i promise!) when you use the synthesizers on the op-1 they all have those crazy cool little graphics on them (like cow) do those visuals actually tell you things about what you're doing or are they just aesthetic?
