This combination of serpent, lirone and theorbo has got to be the most obscure and unlikely grouping of instruments in musical history, but the effect is wonderful! This is a great piece by Bertoli that's normally played on dulcian (bassoon), yet Patrick Wibart's performance on serpent (!) is as virtuosic as any double-reed performance I've ever heard. A simply amazing demonstration of skill on one of history's most difficult instruments!
Extraordinairement beau!
