@D V how? They must be the same set of ppl who showed up outside the governor's office making demands or "peacefully protesting" with their guns shown out proudly. Guns they brought with them were larger than what officers regularly carry.
@R Renaldo what kind of comment is that? How does that affect what I said at all? No one claimed anything like that. If you're here to cause trouble, move along
@R Renaldo That's not your place. You are not law enforcement, you are militia. You're supposed to be focused against a rogue government, not American citizens.
I support the right of U.S. citizens to form and participate in organizations the participants or members respectively refer to as a "militia." For one thing, as a civil rights attorney and constitutional expert (noting that nothing in my comment is legal advice), it's merely the right of free association (for which we might look to the 9th Amendment for support) and certainly wholly within the right of freedom of speech under the 1st Amendment to form and to participate in an organization that the participants or members respectively consider a "militia." For all I know, the editors who produced or created the 60 Minutes episode may have purposefully or even inadvertently edited the interview with the attorney in a way that made it appear that the attorney claimed it was illegal for the people being depicted in the episode in the privately organized militia to participate in that kind of militia, even if the attorney actually did not simply say it that way in her actual interview(s). That kind of thing happens all the time, so without viewing the video, listening to the audio, or reading a transcript, of the entire, unedited video, I don't think it's fair for me to assume that the attorney flat out said that what the people were doing by forming, joining, and participating in drills as part of a private militia was unqualifiedly illegal. The attorney is shown saying (something like), "It is in the self-interest of THESE GROUPS to say, 'We have a right to do THIS,' but they don't." (All caps emphasis added). The video clip of a tiny part of the attorney's interview is shown in the 60 Minutes episode right after the producers of the show depict the private militia in Michigan being part of a private militia and merely engaging in harmless drills. But, we don't even know if the attorney was referring in any way shape or form to anyone involved with the private militia in Michigan. We are not shown what she said in the time before the short clip that may have been strategically edited into the episode in a way that made it appear she made a claim that in reality was far different than what she actually even said. We don't know who, or what groups, she was specifically referring to, or generally referring to when she said, "These groups." For all I know, she may have been referring only to completely different, "paramilitary" groups without any reference to the private militia in Michigan whatsoever. The placement of the video made it seem like the attorney was referring to the private militia in Michigan when she stated that "these groups" think they "have a right to do THIS." (Emphasis added). But, again, I don't know what the attorney said prior to the short segment of her interview shown by the producers. I have no basis to even believe the attorney was referring in any way to the folks in Michigan, other than the context that may have been purposefully (if not inadvertently), or potentially even dishonestly, edited into the episode in the way it was to make it seem like the attorney was talking in her interview about what the group in Michigan were doing, merely by being part of their private militia. I don't know WHAT conduct, or WHO'S conduct, she was in reality referring to when she said "these groups" think they have the right to do "THIS." (Again, emphasis added). If you look at what the attorney actually said in her interview, which was quoted during the episode qualifying her position (note, the journalist quotes the attorney's statement), the attorney made clear in the attorney's quoted statement that it was her position that it was illegal for paramilitary groups to train or engage in paramilitary activity "if their intent is to use it against the State or to take on the role of police." That is a big qualification, and I have no basis to conclude that the attorney shown in the episode claimed in any way or believed in any way, that the folks shown in Michigan had any such intent, or even that she was referring to the folks in Michigan at any time in her entire interview. Do you see how the producers of the show may have manipulated what the attorney actually said in a way that could have made it appear that the attorney claimed something she never actually claimed in reality? Having said all that, I strongly condemn the acts of each and every person, if any, who may have actually contemplated, who may have actually considered, or who may have actually taken any steps toward accomplishing, any plan to kidnap or to take into their custody against her will, a sitting governor of a state in the United States. Obviously, that's completely ridiculous and outrageous. To me, it would be something potentially meriting the death penalty if anyone contemplated kidnapping a sitting governor and genuinely took substantial steps toward accomplishing that kind of plan. I support the right of U.S. citizens to form and participate in organizations the participants or members respectively refer to as a "militia." For one thing, as a civil rights attorney and constitutional expert (noting that nothing in my comment is legal advice), it's merely the right of free association (for which we might look to the 9th Amendment for support) and certainly wholly within the right of freedom of speech under the 1st Amendment to form and to participate in an organization that the participants or members respectively consider a "militia."
For all I know, the editors who produced or created the 60 Minutes episode may have purposefully or even inadvertently edited the interview with the attorney in a way that made it appear that the attorney claimed it was illegal for the people being depicted in the episode in the privately organized militia to participate in that kind of militia, even if the attorney actually did not simply say it that way in her actual interview(s).

Hard to believe that a constitutional lawyer believes that the 2nd amendment is for self defense.
It is.
@@sebastienholmes548 literally says *A well regulated Militia* for a reason, they intended the states of the union to raise strong armies, for the people to have small irregulars to assist, and the nation to raise a large, better trained army as well. they *the founding fathers* desired a three way split of power in the union, between the union herself, the states, and the people.
@@GastropodGaming2006 self-defense against a tyrannical government.
@@sebastienholmes548 that doesnt change any of my points. my points were:
1: the 2nd ammendment only applies to para-military organizations & state (i.e: texas, ohio, indiana, utah) ran militias.
@@GastropodGaming2006 then why does it say the right of the people?

@R Renaldo There is a big difference in numbers and since the 80s police response to riots that have no human cost have always been to let them happen because if you engage it gets 10x worst.(at least in developped countries)

“what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. the remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. what signify a few lives lost in a century or two? the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it's natural manure.”
