- Hi! My name is William, my stagename is Willford, and I'm a 16 year old producer from the Netherlands.
People in the stream I did a few days ago were basically begging for me to do more tutorials so there you go! In this tutorial series, I'll tell all of you how I go about doing a specific part of a track in great detail.

I think I even said in the tutorial that I use a different method to music theory cause mine is very limited. I know the basic things but that's it. I just put down the notes I think sound good with the chord progression. Also, arcadia has a point, you could do that but it does limit you to just the white notes.

+Panoc Als je in harmor zo 'n soort geluid wil krijgen, moet je precies dezelfde stappen doen als ik in serum zojuist deed, alleen hebben ze in harmor een andere plek. Wat ik deed voor dit snelle geluidje is de unison op 6 zetten en de detune wat lager, niets meer, niets minder. Zoek maar waar die knopjes zitten op harmor, tis ergens midden in :)

first of all u can't really download plugins from random websites there all fake and will most likely give u viruses. the best and safest way is to torrent the plugins. Yes it's pirating and illegal but I only do it becuz I plan to buy everything if I make profit with the plugins. right now I'm testing if music is for me. anyway the best free sylenth1 is made by team air. to get it u need to get a torrenting program like UTorrent. then go to websites like piratebay and look up sylenth1. make sure to look at reviews before downloading that it's real and safe. when ur ready and read instructions by the person who uploaded it press the link in small text saying download this torrent. don't click any big boxes that say download now they're advertisements. also make sure u get most recent and compatible with ur computer system. hope that helped! (I used to be desperate for plugins too when I got into music but didnt have money) :)

I'm sitting here, trying to produce something right at the moment...I'm working with Sytrus ('cause I don't have Serum) but I can't get any tune sounding just a bit like the one you got with serum. It's not that I don't have an idea for a melody, but all of the presets I tried were sounding awful and don't have this "electric" feeling if you know what I mean, they just don't sound like melodic/progressive house :/
Sytrus is nothing like serum and sylenth lol. I have no idea how to handle sytrus (cause I never tried) and all the presets are shit hahaha. I suggest getting (or cracking {you didn't get that from me}) sylenth, it's a really good starting plugin and there are loads of free preset banks for it out there with very good presets.
Of course, usually when I find a preset that works, I still modify it a bit in the synth itself, cause I know how to handle it by now, but I suggest playing around with it till you find your sound ;)

Pick a scale/key in which you're going to make the song :) there's a great website which shows the emotions each key gives off

+Arcadiax Official Yeah I kind of brushed over the whole idea of keys cause it's too in depth to really talk about in a 10-minute melody video. With me it goes automatically nowadays but if you really want to learn about keys/scales, you can search on the internet. There are loads of sources of information :)

Thanks a lot, i;ve been studying theory and harmony like crazy and just going with the hear is the best way. The way you added variation had me confused a bit. So not to sound needy or anything but with the break down would you use the same chords but in a different rhythm?
