You are the only tutorial thats actually helping me learn something, the others just show how to make 1 melody and say that you should just mix it but you show everything. Thanks
i agree with you!
You now what you are doing... I learned me Much. Thanks!
"I could have selected them all but I didn't want to" 2:47 XD
- Willford 2016
Thanks William, it's useful.
Nice tutorial :D Definitely learnt something new
You're welcome bro!
Next time can you make a more in-depth tutorial on the compressor? Or that can be a whole new video :D
DJ DangerDudeGuy What else would you like to know? I don't know THAT much about compression lol
Like the attack and those fancy knobs :D
I'd also love learn about compression, not too in-depth but just an idea of what should be done as for compression to not over-compress and ruin the dynamics and make the mix cleaner for those quieter sounds eg. vocal to be heard, great tutorial btw!
wtf is this EQ on the piano??? UR BOOSTING it to the roof man. whyyy?
This is what I need to start doing in my tracks. It's going to help me at mastering properly. Keep this up, great job and 3rd time luck on no dislikes :)
haha let's hope :P
best thing is to have haters !!!
i normally like to watch my haters' asses burn lmao
00:32 - 25:56
The best tutorial about mixing I've ever seen! Thanks you got a new sub!
Thank you bud, learn a lot
This is great!
Thank you so much!
Im late but dude your tutorials are VERY good.
Why I didn't know bout this when I started 😂. Thanks for the tutorial 🙇🏻♂️
you are a genius really
Its very helpful

Will you make new tutorial. I think Your skills improved through the years :)
hy both...I have problème with chords she is skipping Ans Assio 2 she not working i d'ont what i have to do..?are you can help me.pleas..? Thank you very muche
This was the tutorial I was waiting for. Learnt a lot from it and will definitely be using some of those techniques in the future. And your way of doing reverb is so weird but it works really well. A couple of questions if you don't mind. Does the glue cost money? And also with the fruity compressor it doesn't have a makeup knob. Would that be the gain knob? Because I have been using that and it seems to work fine. Also I really think you should start experimenting with other genres because I think your style could fit really well with something like future bass or maybe even dubstep. Anyways thanks for these awesome tutorials. Keep it up Will :D
yeah fruity compressor works basically the same, but I like the Glue better cause it has the visualiser. I actually don't know if the glue costs money, I got it from a friend a while back. If you send me a message on my fb page, I'll send you the dll too :) it is the gain knob indeed. I've been experimenting with some other genres like glitch hop, dubstep and future house. Future house was an immense flop. I might try to make a dubstep or glitch hop track in the future but who knows :P
+MTB Willford Good to here! I'll pm you in a day or 2 if I remember through soundcloud because I don't have facebook. But thanks for the help :D
Which record label you got signed to? By the way it's something similar to my mix 🙂☺️ learnt something new today
I have diffixulties mixing leads and chords together. Did you listen to other reference tracks with an analyser when practising mixing?? I dont rly know how to move on from were i am. (Alltough this tut was great!)
I thought you would explain how to mix melody, chords and bass in guitar, fingerstyle :(
Weet je misschien een goed alternatief voor Sylenth 1? Ik mag het net van mn ouders... En coole vid
You have made best Video Then Anyone Who Teching Production . Thanks A Lot Man Plz Keep Making.
What do you hear where the frequencies clash. I can never hear it.
You are really good at explainien things 👍
you sir... ARE A GENIUS!!! you probs do the best tutorials man thanks!!!
Possibly the most interesting and helpful tutorial on mixing I've ever watched. Amazing job will :D
12:34. HEY!!! PIRATED SAUSAGE FATTENER! Well, at least you have the legit version of sylenth1.
It's a silly plugin to say the least, so...
Isn't a sub-mix also called a bus channel
awesome tutorial dude 10outta10
why would you not keep the high bass and the sub bass the same side chaining?
What is the intro song called?
What is the diffrence between the Ozone Equalizer and the Parametic EQ?
I like ozone best for high and lowpasses cause it's a lot cleaner than the parametric EQ
Damn it's work for me!
Nice tutorial man :D...by the way what is your pc specification ? sorry for bad english :p
I have an Intel Core i3-3240 CPU 3.40GHz processor and 8 gigs of RAM :)
Wow...thats powerful enough to make your awesome music :D...thx for replying me :-)
Hier heb ik op gewacht :)
U helped me a lot thank you ❤️
9:50 You can also do that with the patcher
A BIG THUMBS UP :D I NEEDED THIS!
12.45 does it really make changes if i arrange those "edits" like eq reverb in order? i mean like Willford move down his Izotope to below, it matters? bcuz for me i just do everything not in order as him
Yes. For example if you are trying to eq then add reverb to a sound. then you put the eq above the reverb. If you want to eq the reverb, then you put the eq below it. So, yes, It does matter what order you put them in.
Can you link a good article with the mono and stereo you were talking about? Thanks!
I don't really have one sorry. I am planning on a tutorial series where this will be a part of it though! Stay tuned for that :)
Best tutorial out there. Many "pros" should watch your basic tutorial about mixing and layering sounds properly. Good walkthrough.
Hey bro do you use ott?
Do you have Skype?
Oh that reverb trick is really cool! Great videos man, easy to understand. 👍🏼👍🏼
Wooooooooooow!
Thank u so much
Hey Willford, coole vid man. Zou je misschien een keer een tutorial over mastering willen doen? Ik heb nog steeds geen goede tutorial kunnen vinden waarin alles er goed over uitgelegd wordt. Zou super vet zijn. :)
//Fenetro
Thanks for the advice, it will come in handy for me :)
By the way, could you do some sort of home studio video, maybe go through some things/gear you need and own. Also some tips how to create some sort of home studio from scratch, I'd appreciate your take on this topic : o )
There has actually been more people requesting that lately. I'm considering doing it, but it'll take a while to create. If I do a video like that, I'll explain every thought into why I bought something and such and such :)
Exactly, quality over quantity (speed in this case) :) I'd rather watch a detailed and well thought out video than just a gear rundown/list so I'm happy to wait.
Why can't you just put the eq on the submix bus of the leads or chords, on the submix itself, why does it have to be on each individual mixer track, but the sidechain or maximus does not? And why is one eq not enough? Why is the Ozone/Fab Filter EQ better than the Parametric EQ2?
But for all that extra money?
And why eq on each mixer track, but sidechain and maximizer and other similair FX do not?
Been messing up on mixing some of my tracks that I've been working on, this video helped :)
Hi. Always the sub bass goes whit low volume that the mid bass?
thanks dude, definitely learnt so much new from your vids, like subs, for sure! :D
Sweet! Loved this tutorial~ Helped me with mixing my chords and bass :D Keep it up!
The first video in a while which really enlightened me on the mixing process in fl studio. Very good job buddy!
GOOD ONE BWAI!!!
Hey Willford this is great bruh
i be working on my track
do basses and chords too need sidechain ?
i did to some of them and they sound great
help pls!!
Yeah man! Always sidechain! :)
Thanks bruh
amazing intro song :)
please a tutorial on envelopes will make mi life so much easier love your music btw
envelopes and such will be a topic further into the series :)
+MTB Willford thx for replaying
How do you tell if a lead has a mono or stereo image?
If it's mono it sounds like it's in front of you, and if its stereo, it sounds like it's around you.
I'm so confused right now should I do what you just did with the leads or should I EQ them separately
it depends. few leads can be one instrument so should have one eq on it, but they also clashing with each other so its good to have eq on every track. What's the most important thing to choosing differents synth that are clashing less at the beginning
Alann thanks
eh leed
eh
yeh still workin on the lead
eh

Great video, My laptop cannot run izotope so is there any alternative plugin for Izotope ? help me
UMA CHARAN fabfilter
Just Go Buy a New Laptop :)
Hey Wiliam, weer iets geleerd. Met dit soort tutorials kom ik veel verder ! Alleen een vraagje, hoeveel episodes komen er nog, en is het ook een goed idee om er alvast een track omheen te bouwen?
What you said at 12:40, does that mean that slot 1 has the most power and then the lower the slots the lower the power ??
For example you had kickstart in the last slot, does that mean that all the other slots in use are sort of more effective than kickstart ?
it means that the sound goes through slot 1 first, then slot 2 then slot 3 etc. so for instance, if you were to put a kickstart in slot 1 and a reeverb in slot 2, the reeverb will not or will barely be sidechained, but if you put the reeverb in slot 1 and the kickstart in slot 2, the reeverb will be very clearly sidechained.
just a question is there a free plugin that is a bit like ozone 5 ? dont have enough money for it
yeah i have one its called ozone 5 and you can pirate it. just search on youtube "download ozone 5 free"
TDR Nova Free Dynamic Equalizer
Learned so much! Thank you! XD
One ir the best tutorials out there! Keep it going William!
Great tutorial dude! I've been having so much trouble mixing my leads, chords, and bass. Glad I finally found a tutorial for just that. Turns out that the bigget problem for me was just that I didn't pan enough and that I left too much mid frequencies in my reverb which muddied up the sound. Thanks man!
Mixing is not something that is very straight forward. If a mix sounds 'wrong' it could have a variety of problems in it that cause that sound together. I always try to be as precise as possible while mixing.
I've seen 69 likes now.Its going to be 70 now
Cool : a new tutorial!! Continue your great videos ;)
Thanks for the support man! :)
MTB Willford A pleasure! Thanks for the awesome musics and tutorials mate ;)
This is what I was waiting for, thanks so much
Your mix is almost around 0DB and you havent added the kick(loudest instrument) yet. What about the headroom?
Make a video on headroom and mastering
Yeah I noticed, I completely forgot to turn the mix down, but that's what the 'melodic layers' submix originally was for. I was supposed to turn down that knob so that these layers would hit abou -8 db, so when I added the kick and other drop elements, it would peak at about -6db. There's your headroom :)
+MTB Willford I guess that's the wrong way of doing it because if you'll lower that single knob, all the other channels linked will not get reduced linearly. So your mix might get changed a bit
Kanav Khajuria oh, I don't know, I haven't experienced that yet. I'll think of it later on, thanks :)
+MTB Willford Welcome
btw your tutorials are amazing .Make sure you continue this series :)
Tnx :)
Wow, you really know your stuff ;)
I love these series! The track gets really dope as well!
Woah thank you so much for these tutorials I've never learned so much from a tutorial series!
btw you could use Fruity Patcher in the Leads channel to control the Reverb like you did with an extra channel
You're welcome bro
is it wrong if i mix the layers in the pattern ?
It's definitely not 'wrong'. I just show how I like doing it best. I find that if I mix in the mixer panel, I get a much better overview of what's doing what.
+MTB Willford thanks for the nice tips btw :D
This is the the best video i have ever seen in 2016 so far for real i have learnt so much from it and already working on a track from what i have learnt and it sounds amazing thanks man keep it up i am waiting for more!
Thanks for the kind words
man this link site is blocked in my country.....plz i need this flp ....gimme another link
Tejas Manchi open it with a VPN connection
What about panning?
great! i love this series
+MTB Willford Thanks man!!!!! ga zo door!!!
Damn.. with the piano chords I was really feeling Avicii’s dancing in my head
what i do is i level my leads to the 6 on the central and then my chords right below 6 i put my basses at right below 9 and my sub mostley at 12. then i compress them and make them even. then i add effects.
and i cut out unneeded freqs.
what do you mean by those numbers, db? also, what do you mean by 'on the central'
MTB Willford
To the left of the master. That thing with a C.
ohh I get you now. Yeah that's a way of doing things. I noticed myself that I don't like that kind of restriction of numbers, I just do what sounds best at the moment :)
MTB Willford
yeah i do that too. but ive taken on your way of doing things. and i have to say its pretty usefull. do you think you could make a blank template but with all the master organization ?
i dont get the point of stereo & mono can you explain it to me
It's quite complicated if you don't get it, I might make a video on it in the future, but for now, you can maybe find some tutorials about it on youtube.
kk thx anyway
Stereo is audio on the side of the speakers. mono is everything in the middle.
We can hear up to 25000 htz ?
Really really helpful thanks a lot william :D ^^
np man :)
MTB Willford What was the next episode ? :P
Darkseffy DaRkS Next ep is probably going to be drop percussion, kicks and stuff :)
MTB Willford Ok thank you ! :)
How can i Gert izotope 5? For free
There is something called Google but i'm not sure, wait... I'll Google it! :)
Curl I have google it and I have downloaded a buch of cracks and no one works. That's why I asked.

you can add more highs and less lows to the reverb from the vst itself, most of reverb plugins (fruity reverb included) have the "low cut" and "high cut" knobs :) [the way you use it is indeed more flexible but its just reverb at the end]
There is a difference between cutting lows and adding highs. The low cut thing only cuts the lows, but when I use the submix trick I showed in this video, I have all control over the eq and have a good overview of what the frequencies look like. Also, the low cut is very sharp on the reeverb plugin and I wanted it to be more of a gradual cut :)
And I don't think it's 'just reeverb'. The reeverb should be just right in my opinionn. if you boost the highs in reeverb, you really give that final spark to a lead sound you usually wouldn't have. But as I said, that's my opinion :)
Why are you soooo good? How long have you been producing? :)
I've been producing for about 4-5 years now :)
MTB Willford
lol im not judging just thought it might be worth it to clarify
Never thought of treating reeverb in a seperate channel xD works so well! Good tutorial :)
Ps. Where can I find the filter plugin (not eq2) ?
iZotope Ozone 5, either use the trial or crack it haha
I learned that reeverb trick by looking at some fl studio stock projects haha. Also, what Trilly said :)
+TrillyGuy cheers :)
+MTB Willford btw I recently accidentally discovered that to rename and colour tracks you could click the mouse wheel on them , hope it helps

oh yeah, I didn't buy that plugin. :/
Who cares, who's gonna pay over 100$ for something that they most likely aren't even going to profit from.
Nor1Gamez it's 30$ lol
+rondle berik Still it's only a type of compressor and it can be easily replaced by the compressor that comes with fl studio, but it's going to require some more work.
+Nor1Gamez it's a brickwall limiter combined with a small amount of overdrive and EQ. This doesn't take away from the fact that there was work put into it and you don't pay for it.
Sounds like shit to me
Yeah? Well you're not the one getting views off of music tutorials so your opinion doesn't matter. Sorry mate.
