    Another tip, be wearry of chambering the same round multiple times. You can get bullet setback, or you can make the bullet start to angle in the case.
    Lots of people do it without a problem, but problems can happen.

    Trevor, have you been watching me load up? I literally just did this an hour before watching. You make good sense, and I appreciate your efforts. I did not know that this functionality would not be healthy for the extractor. I want my new XR920 to live a long and healthy life.

    Can you do a Tech Tuesday episode on the differences between the Shadow Systems regular extractor and the enhanced extractor? Thanks.

    This is the best video for new shooters I have ever seen. Maybe even those not new to shooting. I don’t even slam the slide on an empty chamber. People are beating their guns to death for no reason. Again great job Trevor.

    Alternatively, don't unload at the end of the day. I transfer my carry gun directly into the safe while it's still in the holster

    Hi Trevor, May be another way to be fully loaded - 1 in the Chamber and a full magazine in - insert a full magazine in the pistol, load one in the chamber with pistol slide in normal position (not slide locked to the rear) take out magazine that is now missing a bullet and insert a fresh new magazine that is topped off…. Add one more round the magazine that you used originally…. Chamber check that one round is in…. And carry mag that you topped off. Now you are fully tactical loaded 😊

    Technique #2 has a BIG issue...much bigger than breaking an extractor. If you continually load the same round over and over again you will experience bullet set back. On a hot +P defense round this can make a VERY big bang which will destroy more than just your extractor. If you're going to chamber a round every day, at the very least rotate them so you aren't pushing the bullet back.

    • @fullfire0

      NO this is a myth. Bullet setback IS NOT DANGEROUS to you or your gun.

    • @Freakingstang
      @Freakingstang 2 роки тому +4

      @@fullfire0 that is very wrong and bad information. It’s not a myth. If it was a myth, Ammo companies wouldn’t recall lots of ammo for improper crimps causing bullet setbacks. Ask any reloader who’s seated a bullet too deep and experiences case head separation, pierced primers or worse exploded guns. Please do not comment on things you don’t know about. You’ll get someone hurt offering bad advice.

      @@Freakingstang Dude, I've literially experimented with this a ton. I reload as well. I've taken a hammer and smashed bullets as far as possible into the case and then shot them with no negative effects. I did this for an entire box of ammo. I did this because of a study I read online where someone did the exact same thing, and I wanted to verify their results.

    Could you possibly explain why, on my 5th gen Glocks, sometimes I have to depress the safety and slide the firing pin forward for them to reassemble? I never have this issue on my MR920 or older Glocks.

    Or better yet, don’t top off period. As a ccw, the odds of you getting into a protracted gun fight are so low it’s not even worth talking about. 10 or 12 rounds are plenty. Carry a spare mag.

  • @codykoon5520

    Is there anyway to avoid ruining the top two rounds when loading from a magazine? I’ve had to throw out rounds because the bullet was compressed back into the casing when cycling those top two rounds. I already try to avoid unloading my carry gun each day and put the entire holster in the safe.

      if you ride the slide and do it slow there will be little to no stress on the chambered round. once the gun is broken in it should slow ride smoothly. polishing the feed ramp will make it way smoother when chambering

    Or…… don’t +1. Just carry what your mag holds. I do that so I know my mag is fully seated as well. Then it stays in that condition until it needs to be fired.
