What is the Timeline project? Basically, you'll see all of the story events as they chronologically happen. Which is seemingly easy to do, but...if you're familiar with Kingdom Hearts, then you know the series is so full of flashbacks, callbacks and retcons, and it's extremely easy to lose track of them. I always like to think of the Timeline as an experiment. I wasn’t sure if it could be a welcome one but, somehow, it was so well received that it exceeded my expectations. The original 2018 Timeline was just a way to re-live all of the Kingdom Hearts titles leading to KH3, in a different, yet familiar way. I never had plans to go back to it, as I was fully aware of all the flashbacks and callbacks that could be added in the future titles. I don’t really like the idea of uploading new, fixed episodes every now and then, as it would just confuse all of you (and, more than anyone, myself!). But I've seen so many requests of seeing this project to be continued that I decided to go on with KH3 in a special way. I can’t stress enough the purpose of this project-this doesn’t want to be the best or the perfect way of experiencing the Kingdom Hearts saga. All of the titles should be played following their release dates. The Timeline is simply an alternate way of experiencing the story we already know and only players who already played the games should watch it. New players would be spoiled about some plot points, so be warned. This project gives you a different perspective on specific events, and the adding of new musics, flashbacks, callbacks and secret reports, makes the whole experience even more unique and immersive. what happened to the scene with aqua and ansem, i thought you were going to place it before mickey and riku arrived. it's not present in the new version of 122.
I do genuinely love how the friendship of SDG is evident during this, it’s playful and shows how they’ve grown together. Yen Sid irks me as he always come across miserable to Sora, Olympus wasn’t a failure and that’s evident at the end of the game. I do wish more of the Dark World to begin with was playable with Riku.
I love how they mention the concept of powering up their keyblades as a canon concept rather than a game mechanic while doing the exact opposite with Sora's ability to transform them. We got a whole scene in KHII devoted to Sora getting form changes but in KHIII there's just a popup.
8:50 TN for those who don't know: Apparently, in Japanese, the way Mickey phrases this, it _could've_ meant that Aqua literally looks like Sora. For obvious reasons, that weirds Riku out. ("ANOTHER Sora?!") But Mickey then clarifies that that's not what he meant.
@@TheElementsAreWithMe Honestly, I disagree. Riku's reaction made no sense to me until I read about what the conversation was in Japanese. (It's the same conversation. It just makes more sense in the Japanese language.)
@@Gestrid I agree. As much as I love the english version, they change a lot of the dialogue (especially at the end of the game) and it kinda ruins some scenes. Two good examples are when Riku Replica says goodbye to Riku, in the english version he says "Good luck", but in japanese he says "Take care of her (Namine)" which is a great callback to KH1; and the other is when Xehanort is talking to Sora after their battle, in english Xehanort says he wants to create an empty world pure and bright, but in japanese he says pure and white like a blank canvas, and some people complained they changed Xehanort's motivation, but no, he still wants perfect balance by creating a void where neither light nor darkness exist.
Ienzo: I guess we haven't spoken since the castle... Actually, you never spoke at all. Maybe to Riku, but even if Sora had his "Chain of Memories" from those events, he still wouldn't know you. Unless the Data fights are Canon, ha Though, maybe he referencing Roxas. Thats probably it. But even then, you two barely interacted. Aueleus possibly feeling bad for back handing Roxas with might of God was pretty funny though
What makes it even funnier is that they brought a past conflict between Roxas and Lexaeus out of nowhere. Seriously, they had no animosity towards each other, yet he appeared annoyed here.
in 358/2 days Roxas spoke with every memeber of organization XIII before going to castle oblivion (that's what the "whatever happened between you and roxas is in the past" line comes from, Lexaeus hit Roxas so hard to get to 1hp in order for Roxas to awake his limit powers)
yeah, and that's the flimsiest explanation ever. it'd make more sense to say he has beef with Riku perhaps, for killing him. but socking Roxas in the gut more than a year ago to teach him a cool new ability, and then feeling bad about it enough to be noticed by and get a reaction out of Ienzo, feels kinda pathetic of him lmao. especially when it's being directed at Sora instead of Roxas himself also I just realised how funny it is that the org members all used alternate names, and one of them is literally pronounced "Alias"
Feels unusual you didn’t include the Ansem SOD + Aqua and Ansem the Wise scene in the beginning considering that by the time Riku and Mickey arrived at the shore Aqua and Ansem the Wise are no longer present at the shore.
Love these videos! I'm so excited for the Timeline of this and Melody of Memories... That said, I did notice that there's a lot of compression in the scenes in the Mysterious Tower.
16:08 for those who don't pick up this pattern gameplay wise. Get this, every heartbinder that Sora receives is always in a world where his appearance makes a drastic change. San Fransokyo is a bit of stretch, due to Sora only having a visor. Even so like this scene here, he receive this heartbinder and his drip for this adventure at the same time. Coincidence? Could very well be, but i choose not to believe its THAT simple.
Ah, so this isn't the only heartbinder Sora has received thus far? Very interesting. 16:01 just feels particularly special lore-wise for a reason that I can't place.
It’s crazy how long it took for the official kingdom hearts 3 logo to actually appear on screen. Just before you had to Twilight Town. Pretty cool overall regardless.
Good work as always . By the way, I wonder how you handled the regular cut scenes and the remind cut scenes for the key blade graveyard portion of the game .
Ref Riku and strength to protect what matters, this is an obligatory reminder that this is one (rather important) instance of a translation error that affects things pretty enormously. IIRC the literal translation is to protect a special someone or something to that effect?
Yeah, KH is no stranger to mistranslations, and KH3 is easily one of the most noticeable in that aspect. (Most likely because of how screwed it's development was.)
Nitpick-iest nitpick I will ever say, the birth by sleep conversation will need to be moved from where it is in ddd to while aqua and ansem the wise are speaking in the realm of darkness, whenever you show that again. Or just keep it as is and have it in both places?
Just to point out, that's what usually happens when you use a mod that disables background musics, and in some empty places like the Realm of Darkness this is the result.

Night of Tragedy, originally from the Secret Section of BBS. I think this specific variant is a loosely edited version of the World of Tres performance.
While searching for Aqua through the Realm of Darkness, Riku and Mickey get attacked by a cluster of Heartless. They fight them off but Mickey’s Kingdom Key D Keyblade takes damage and Riku’s Way to the Dawn Keyblade is pretty much destroyed, so they head back to Yen Sid’s tower to rethink their plan for rescuing Aqua, meanwhile Sora, Donald and Goofy, having got no answers from Hercules regarding Sora’s situation, are continuing their adventures to prepare for the battle with Xehanort. As they head out, they receive a call on Sora’s new Gummiphone from Ienzo, the human Somebody of Zexion from Organization 13 and apprentice of Ansem the Wise, he informs Sora about the data that Ansem the Wise gave to Riku while they were in Sora’s heart, telling them that there’s another heart within Sora’s heart, which he believes belongs to his Nobody, Roxas, similar to how Naminé’s heart resides within Kairi’s heart.
