My friend has a sea keeper on his 60' Sea Ray Yacht. I can attest to everything you just said and demonstrated about the side to side roll. We were in the Atlantic, in 3-4 ft rollers, like you, and the boat never rolled more than 2-4 degrees from side to side, and we were doing 20 knots. I noted from sitting on the bow of his boat, that the top rail of the boat barely moved, from side to side, with the horizon. Very smooth ride, and yes, there was still some bounce from the hull, but as you demonstrated when you turned the seakeepr off, the roll increased dramatically. I was on the boat for a week, and it was the most comfortable, stable ride on a boat that I have ever been on.
I have a love hate relationship with my seakeeper. Got one on a new boat. Bloody expensive but when it works it’s insanely good. Sadly 6 weeks in it died. Turned out to be a water pump, easy. But they needed to send one to the dealer, there went 2 months. Worked perfectly for about 3 months after that. Then just stopped spooling. Whole ball unit needed replacing under warranty. vacuum leak. I’m now waiting for the repair. It’s been not working more than it’s been working on the time I’ve had the boat (9 months). I’d probably skip next time. I could be unlucky who knows.
Just got into you channel recently, great content. This info very helpful for those in the market for blue water rig. No brainier to get one if you are spending 250k on the boar
$25K does sound like a lot but if your favorite hobby is being on the water and fishing most of your free time than I guess its worth it. It certainly seems to perform very well and I have seen many new sportfish yachts now offer these units as an option or even as standard equipment.
Jury is still out to be honest. Have had some issues with moisture getting in the unit. Amazing tool when it is working for sure, but a recent repair was disheartening.
I have the same boat and I am considering installing it. I have a couple of questions hopefully you can answer for me. I am concerned with the extra weight. How does it affect the gas mileage on the Steiger 28? Also you mentioned it changed the ride, do you think the boat rode better after? It would seem it would balance the boat out a bit. Would you install it again? Also they are telling me that I may need a seakeeper 2 but that maybe overkill. Thanks for the video and time answering my questions.
what gonna happen if small seakeaper will be installed into a big boat? Will it reduce roll or won't be working at all? I mean the Seakeper 18 for 70' boat requires up to 3.7 kilowatts which makes impossible to use solar energy for it. It's too much! What if i installed Seakeeper 6 to the 70' boat? Will it work to some degree?
I was watching that boat coming across from starboard wondering if someone was watching it on the boat, then it disappeared after the price breakdown. Hopefully no close calls!
Funny this video just showed up on my feed. 395 Everglades with SeaKeeper. 2 months old. Just got “valve 2” fault 2 days ago. Powered entire system down at the dock, went back out yesterday, same problem. Guess it’s going back to dealer already. Night and day difference with it being on and off. I was able to tell there was something wrong when we were running out in 3-4 footers and was surprisingly smooth, then it started getting bouncy. Looked at screen and noticed the fault.

Wow. Great input there Kenneth. Appreciate you stopping by!
The whole package is an amazing setup, worth every penny after watching this…

Very informative vid cheers, i also enjoyed the bit where you were heading straight into that other boat.
LOL, all was good 😄
@@saltwaterfishinguniversity Hey i have one question actually, how much noise does it make?
@@N330AA Very little. You just slightly hear it if engines are off. Nothing when they are on.

Welcome Steven, appreciate you stopping by.

Well put James.
Would like to hear about your thoughts on the seakeeper after 2 years of use. Maintenance? Reliability?
Jury is still out to be honest. Have had some issues with moisture getting in the unit. Amazing tool when it is working for sure, but a recent repair was disheartening.
I’m in the market. I saw they have a new waterproof case. Would that have solved your moisture issue? Was that the repair?

Great info bro!!! More trolling videos please!!!
Appreciate that! Tons more to come once we start Blue Fin Fishing in 2 weeks!!!
how loud is it? do you hear it if you are spot locked with trolling motor and engines off? Wondering if its gonna be loud and potentially spook fish
Do you use a dc to dc charger to charge those batteries? Lithium ? Or straight from the alternator lead acid?
Cool dude. I wanna ride on yer boat sometime. Howdy from Indiana.

Yes, all was good Nathan, thanks for stopping by!
great video. learned something.
Glad you found it helpful Jeff!
Great video loved it
Appreciate that Jose, hope it helped!
I want to see this tested in Haulover Inlet on a rough day, that will convince me one way or the other.
Well, just keep in mind it doesn't help w head-sea Rob. Just roll.
I have a 2020 Miami 23’. Id like to know more about how they made it fit in there. Nice boat and i love!
This was a great video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Might sound ridiculous but just scheduled to get one installed on my Erie/ontario charter boat
Not ridiculous at all. 👍
Excellent review
How long can you keep it on with the engines off? Thinking in terms of chunking offshore.
Depending on your battery set up, I've had it last more than 4 hours without engines on Rich.
@@saltwaterfishinguniversity Thanks man
Pro = It works
Con = It's expensive AF!
LOL, that about sums it up. 😂

How reliable has it been? Have you had to do any maintenance or repairs?
No repairs. Very reliable thus far.
@@saltwaterfishinguniversity I see this comment didn't age so well. You may want to edit it
Informational video. I like it!!
How much was your install? minus new door
It would have been about 24k without the door Cody.
15,900 plus 9,500 ?
For Bow chop, just mount another one up front, perpendicular to the rear one.
Great report
Nice info!
Thanks JJ!
I know you're in the open waters, but who's driving the boat?
Can you read a book with it on? I need to see the reading test.
Thanks brother
also if you had your engines spaced farther apart that would distribute weight better on the boat and help the roll as well
Thanks!
9:30 your welcome
Thank FUCK for this. I appreciate you bud. Saved me 9 minutes of blabbing.
I'm bumming... I was just quoted $40k for a SeaKeeper 1 in my 27' Blackfin...
OUCH. Yes. That does seem high Jim. Was there a bunch of custom work they would have to do? Seems over the top in labor costs to me.
I dont even know why im so intrigued I dont even own a boat.
Oh, that introduction music in all is terrible
For the price, I hope it doesn't come with that insanely annoying music.
Free education and all you can think to do is complain. What a sad life.
Annoying music...
How long does it last with the batteries for you?
