- 5.7 timing cover common leak . will dump water in the oil pan if not fixed. remove the harmonic balancer and water pump and thf fron 5 oil pan bolts for removal. you can hold the flywheelwith a prybar to loosen the crank pulley bolt throug the acces hole in the bottom of the bell housing
Damn it... I had a small coolant leak, thought it was my water pump...turns out it is actually the timing cover gasket, I didn't know that the timing housing had water outlets, thanks for the video. It confirmed my theory.
Glad to help that's why I make the videos appreciate you
Just did this gasket to mine..whoever designed these engines is a complete fool.if this gasket leaks.its draining directly into the oil pan.i hope i can flush out the nasty mix without my engine fucking up.already the 2nd engine too.
Pull the pan and clean everything out of it.
How do you break it free once you have all the bolts off of it
Pry it off don't forget the bolts in the bottom of the oil pan in the front
I have an 07 charger RT and I rebuilt my engine new head gaskets and 2 days later most of my coolant went into my oil pan and when I checked the dip stick milky oil. But it’s not going into the combustion chamber so no white smoke. Could my problem be a bad timing cover gasket. Also there is no milky oil in the coolant expansion tank.
Most likely yes or head hasket I'd on upside down
@@juniorthetuner5113 it’s actually a weird one the machine shop that gave me a driver side head because of a valve seat drop. Was actually a passenger head, they told me since the casting numbers on both heads are the same they thought it was interchangeable, nope they are not. The coolant was going into one of the oil return holes and that’s why it was going straight into the oil pan.
@@rafaelfuentes7572 yes they are different I agree
I have a question there so I put a brand new water pump because it was leaking and six to seven months later it's leaking now on the timing cover gasket do I have to remove the water pump in order to take that cover off to put a new gasket like you're doing ?thanks u
No you can leave the water pump bolts on. just remove the timing cover bolts .....the ones around the edges of timing cover only pull balancer and power steering ac alternator and front 5 oil pan bolts go into timing cover....rtv oil pan gasket in corner and scrape clean everything dry
@@juniorthetuner5113 thank you for your time
@@angeluribe2232 very welcome buddy no problem
