- In this video, we go over our ultimate road trip setup for car camping together for week-long and weekend road trips! Our simple budget car camping road trip set up only took us 1-2 days to complete. We built a platform and storage units and invested in a few other items and DIY projects to create a basic car camping setup for two on a budget. We've included the essentials for a simple road trip build for your SUV (we have a base Toyota 4Runner for measurements).

WOW! This is the ultimate set up--love it! That framework in the trunk is an incredible use of space! And we had no idea those portable charging converters existed, so good to know!

That platform is sick. We've slept in the back of our Jeep Patriot before, but always just lay on the folded down seats. You have so much storage! Also, love that you have a spot just for the dirty shoes -- so essential. Do you guys have any problems with the reflector panels falling out?
The storage was a must for us haha especially for long trips! We did at first because the hit would make them curl a bit. We added some duck tape and that helped, but we're now investing in magnetic clips to hold them up easily!
@@TheLoversPassport Gotcha, yeah we wondered if you would eventually turn to magnets. It seems almost everyone does.. in time... haha

Amazing! Questions. How tall are you both? Where do you put the items like your cooler and water jug at night while you sleep? In the front seats maybe?
Great questions Nicole! Stephen is 6' and Giselle is 5'9" and during the night we store all our gear in the front passenger seat!
