Isn't it dQ=dW in the turbine?(heat of the steam convert into work of the turbine) or are you consider out flow and in flow of the mass is also a part of the system?
n you say that the piston cylinder arrangement is a closed system? there is considerable amount of fuel and oxygen that goes inside the system, combustion takes place and the fuel gets exhausted. Does that not mean there is mass transfer in the system?
Suchitra Sivakumar If you think about it this way, Piston Cylinder arrangement is Closed only when there are no Inlet and Exit Valves. But if valves are present then that's an Open system.
Suchitra Sivakumar Dear, he is considering the expansion/combustion stage only "when both inlet and outlet valves are kept closed" and not the complete 4/2 strokes or cycle and that too of an SI engine. Hope that helps. 😊
this is not internal combustion engine system , simply closed cylinder and piston .. but internal combustion engine works on 4 stroke have 2 open system and 2 closed system resembling .

ohhh! I get it steam loose it's internal energy, not heat.
excellent
Sir internnal energy is intensive or extensive
It is an extensive property. As it can be changed by transferring matter, work or heat.
thank u sir
intensive
Sir this video is about types of system. property of system video is missing.
Exactly!

so does that mean that the piston cylinder arrangement is considered without inlet and exit valves here?
