Hey man, I do forestry mulching full time and I'm looking into getting a 306-309 with either a brush cutter or mulcher. I saw your video where you pulled this 309 on a light trailer behind your 2500 but what do you normally haul it with? I've got a 18 ram 3500 and a big tex 22gn 30ft and I'm concerned about weight.
I pulled the 309 with my 2500 and gooseneck. It's rated at 24k. You'll be fine with that 3500. Trailer should be fine too. The 309 really is a beast with a mulcher head. It handles it with no problem
That mulching head didn’t look like it was cutting good as apossed to other heads I have seen , we are also looking into getting one but not sure there is enough business in central Ms with all the other doing it as well
I will try to answer best I can. The bidding part for me is the hardest. But I've never ran a mulcher and didn't really know how fast I could get it done. But total time around this pond was about 3.5 hrs. I just bid it at my minimum to bring my machine. Which was 600. But since fuel has gotten so stupid I'm gonna have to go up some. And I also split the cost between this job and the last for the cost to rent the mulcher head. They actually paid me a little extra. Sorry for the long reply. Just have a minimum and estimate how many hours you think it will take. But experience would help a lot.
@@smithworx1091 No, thank you! I really appreciate the effort you put into breaking it down for me. I haven't run a mulcher head either and I've heard mixed things on some of them so I had no idea how long/well it would work. But now I know! Keep up the awesome videos, I need them to tide me over until I get my new 306 :)
@@davidwatsonii9469 this being my first time I really didn't know what to expect. But from now on I will do it by the hour. I feel like you can cover good ground with a mulcher
That thing did a great job around the bank of that lake. That was funny "first and last mulching job". I have felt like that a time or two myself...
Those mulchers are handy
Like you said if you have enough work for it to justify the expense
