John Boyd Thatcher State Park in NY | Virtual Tour

Today we visited John Boyd Thacher State Park is a state park located 15 miles southwest of Albany, New York, near Voorheesville, in Albany County on State Route 157. Located mostly atop the Helderberg Escarpment, the park has several hiking trails that offer panoramic views of the Green Mountains in Vermont and the Taconic Mountains of the Hudson Valley.

I just about lived up there with friends in the early 60's. Picnic every week during the spring and summer.

I went up there all the time when I lived there. It wasn’t far from Voorheesville where I lived. Such a pretty place and the colors during fall are breathtaking. I had never seen colors like that growing up in Missouri. Even did a covered bridge fall foliage tour in Vermont. Thatcher Park, Spac, Lake George and Laconia are all places I would love to come see again.

@@TrvlXLTV If it's open, consider the famous Indian Ladder Trail that skirts along the side of the escarpment--spectacular scenes of falls and caves. It's of native American origin.

1st time was Oct 23 2022
2nd time was Aug 14 2023
Hopefully I’ll visit it again this year for a 3rd time
