These DEWALT air movers are mich higher quality than the Ridgid models and they are priced much better. At the time the video was made, the large model was $329 at The Home Depot, but only $230 on Amazon. The Ridgid model, not sold at my Home Depot, was $230. The Dewalt is MUCH better!

I put in two of the minka air f 887, 72-in ceiling fans. They rock! At the time I got them for $599 each. Unfortunately now they're up to 750 each. I have to run them on the lowest setting because it's insane at level 5 or 6.

I think home Depot is finally realizing that they have to carry products specifically for each market. For instance, I've noticed in many of the stores near me in the Chicago suburbs that they push Milwaukee a lot more than other brands.
I too have noticed that the amount of rigid has gone down in the past few years. Unfortunately that does mean that as they push brands in markets where they are successful. The prices will be higher because they're not selling the quantities that they used to.

Bought the smaller one and it worked great at first. Now the fan part won’t turn anymore.

What am i missing, here?: the small dewalt air mover & the dewalt 24" fan are both $100 at Amazon & Costco, respectively. The former is rated at 600 cfm; the latter at 6500 cfm (more than 10x as much). Even the larger air mover is only rated at 1800 cfm (still significantly less than the fan). Is there a difference between the two types of devices in the way air movement is measured? Just per those numbers, the fan seems like the obvious choice.

I am not privy to how they come up with those ratings. But I can tell you that the 600 cfm air mover moves 10 times more air than my 3,000 cfm mule garage fan I installed 7 days ago.

Someone else please correct this, I believe the reason is CFM is measuring the amount of air displaced, but not the velocity(speed?) and force(pressure?) with which it is moved.
So you’re actually moving/circulating more air faster in the same amount of time, the path of the air is just in a smaller cubic area

I can answer this myself now (I ended up picking up both as well as an anemometer). As specified in the CFM ratings, the fan does in fact move much more air. The air mover moves less air, but what air it does move, it moves faster (a more focused stream). Qualitatively, I can definitely see why someone might perceive that the air mover moves more air - the stream is so much more concentrated that you can feel it farther away than with the fan. In short, if you're looking to dry out a large area, a fan would be a better choice, and if you're looking to target-dry a specific spot or item, an air mover would be a better choice.

What about the amount of Amps?

    • @WorkshopAddict

Volts times amps equals watts. My shop was at 121 volts.

Rebranding is what’s killing Klein. Both companies should stick with the tools they actually manufacture. Like those Klein socket sets, it’s not good for the brand to be selling $3 flea market tools with your name on it.
Not saying the fan isn’t good, but those exact fans have been around for decades in blue.

Still a lot of Rigid at my HD

That is great. DEWALT is taking over in my smaller HD. No Ridgid Sump pumps or air movers anymore.
