This is such a good podcast and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates that you were quiet and let him talk. That’s what made this an amazing podcast because he could just talk about whatever he wanted and you didn’t step all over him. Thank you.
Couldn’t be more stoked for this guy today. What a powerful story to share and shared well. Thanks for sticking around G. Great interview I really like how Living Proof handled this one.
ABSOLUTELY GREAT STORYTELLING THAT WE NEED A NEW PODCAST THAT DIVES MORE INTO HIS WORLD. HE DOESNT EVEN NEED TO TALK GRAFF, HE CAN INCORPORATE THAT INTO MANY STORIES! THANK YOU GREY FOR OPENING UP AND SHARING VERY SENSITIVE PARTS OF YOURSELF. Would love to hear you do more of these long form podcasts! Be sick if you could do that! You’ve sucked us all in and we appreciate you for that!
well spoken, great memory, super honest, and humble, lived through an insane amount of shit and beyond glad he's back on his feet. truly a legend. i know a lot of people that are still struggling and stuck in the kensington trenches, and I hope this perspective shows that people can make it out alive and that recovery isn't necessarily a straight line and doesn't look the same for everyone
you ain’t kidding about Kensington I used to drive from Massachusetts just to cop that strong Fetty. Nothing would touch me in Massachusetts or anywhere like that stuff did It was insane. I hear it was like 80-90% in some spots. Highest purity % in nation. Im thankfully clean now.
Fun fact: Grey PVC starred in The Mars Volta’s music video for their song “Ilyena” in 2009. alongside Cake HR, they both did throwups on the rooftop of a high school and that was the whole storyline for the video.
@@baker3person cake was the drummer for the band. his career was way bigger than graffiti so he couldn’t crush the streets as much but he still did anyways
Hahah I thought that too. Like an emo Ben Stiller😅 but Grey is unique and an original individual so he gets a thumbs up from us even if he has Davey Havoc hair 😂
I knew this was his story without knowing anything about his story. I guess I was up there while he was. It’s kinda rare to see out of towners in Kensington, when I started seeing Grey tags I was like “uh oh.”
Gotta love the police they essentially have him on trespass or some BS charge, but make out in paper that they've caught a kingpin and really have no evidence to support they're claims.
Bummed that you cut him off when he started talking about being into HC bands. Dude is clearly a legit skate punk hc and emo kid, and did some artwork for the ATDI/Mars Volta guitar player, even has a song dedicated to him! Would've been cool to hear him talk about punk hc, how involved he was, what bands he was/is into, any stories about going into shows etc, or even just music in general, his friendship with Omar and the song.
@JonasGrey-e9v yo! Absolute legend and a true warrior! Thanks for taking the time to reply , it's such a cool trivia. Style wise you're one of my all time favourites and one of the first names that caught my attention when I really started getting into graff, remember seeing photos of your stuff here in Europe, street and transit, and thinking it was perfection. Knowing your music taste also overlaps with mine just ties it further. Been watching your comeback to Instagram and your journey into sobriety and rooting for you and your success! Never understood why people care so much about celebrities, but here I am so happy to see an absolute stranger succeed just because I like your drawings on surfaces. Stay strong!
Such a good pod cast, hopefully more are like this where the presenter doesn't talk much. They are often ruined by his lack of knowledge and the constant need to talk about hardcore and/or jiu-jitsu.
I'm on subs now but I kicked 280 mg of methadone cold turkey in the San Jose county jail it was the worst 7 months of my life almost died from dehydration hunger and seizures! Shout out from the Bay area 🤘☕🚬
It was a while ago but you don't really sleep you might fall into some type of sleep for a couple minutes and wake up again you never get solid sleep... I would say after the fifth month I could sleep but after being on opiates for so long that's when the anxiety and depression kicks in so you got demons to battle after that... And you definitely can't get help with that in jail... I haven't been locked up since 2018 I did recently get a vandalism charge though... It's getting dropped@@j.b.8546

I’m all for supporting anyone contributing to the culture but it’s crazy to me how some of the people behind these podcast interviews used to jump down my throat when I post too much outta towner graffiti and assume not to be supporting some NYC writers… meanwhile all these videos are outta towners that the interviewers have no history with or real personal knowledge of to ask good questions… only because they have have social climbing clout to gain… honestly the dialogue is kinda painful to sit through… just one sided stories with the same regurgitated questions in monotone… sorry I can’t say “great work” guys but this video just screams clout chasing… then asking people to give money to patreon on top of it…. You’re welcome for an honest opinion and i’m not one of these guys thats hides behind anonymous internet names. Constructive criticism
Or it’s someone that’s done a lot of work talking about it. He’s earned his chance to be heard in fact when I was schooling some youngers in the 90s I would guide them to the SF scene and specifically Amaze, Some, Grey, Twist etc. it’s a positive thing surely.
It's very gathered around the legal wall/graff shop regulars etc. listening to that one older writer because he was in a big krew from a certain era and they wanna actually hear about the other guys but gotta settle for him kinda vibe off this podcast I agree shouts from Dublin Ireland

Met Grey in SF buss hoping around downtown. He was grimey in 98, can’t imagine what he was like rolling around K&A. Much respect. He’s an SF legend.

Grey was one of the dopest writers in SF when I was growing up. Very good interview to watch. Thank you for providing this.
Aint no way this is who I think it is, you were one of the dopest writers when I was growing up in the east bay. Salute g!
That was something special right there. Hearing his story fills
me with hope and a belief that anything is possible. What a gift.
What a great storyteller.
Glad he’s in recovery and doing well!
Thank you for your honesty GREY. All of us as humans are fragile, and vulnerability creates a space for others to be open.

Oh fuck yea. Dudes a real one! Stoked about this.
It’s cool that he isn’t a 2nd Amendment-hating anarkiddy like your boy Aware was.
Him and Gkae in "Sometimes Samurai" is the best video
He’s a warrior , so many people with the same story probably never made it out of those Philly slums alive .
This brought back a lot of memories for me graffiti wise and addiction wise, just celebrated 6 years off crack and dope!
crazy story, thanks for sharing Grey PVC
One of my favorite dudes....I relate a lot to you Grey...mad respect and positivity throw your way
Good to know someone much older than me is rocking this hairstyle.
There is a GREY PVC scribe in the greyhound station in Cheyenne Wyoming, its been there since mid 90s...

Any talks of the mars Volta music video he was in? Assumed that was because of cake TKO that happened.
