Wonderful to see your latest podcast and all your projects. What of the segments I always love best is seeing the yarns you have dyed. Spectacular creations! Best wishes for more January!
OMG I LOVE THAT SHAWL AS SCARF. I've never made a shawl because I done wear "shawl"s. But the boneyard shawl as blanket scarf... I might do my first big project, a shawl to wear as blanket scarf. Also, I just discovered you guys and want to hug you.
I wondered where your glasses were. Looking great! You guys are like my male version of grocery girls 😁🤪Two podcasts I get excited about when they pop up! Love it.
My first time joining in a live show! My sister gushes about you all the time! I find when I watch the older videos and you show a bag, pattern, or yarn…I quickly check out the sites you post! Unfortunately I’m behind the curve and always miss out…I just love your shows!
Kevin, your kind mention brought a smile to my morning! I have completed my "binge watching" of all of your & Ray's episodes and lives! I was having NATR video withdrawals :-) so, this one popping up into my feed soothed the ache for more!! lol :-) I hope that you are able to repair the break in your Boneyard! Best wishes to your dad, Ray! Have a great week and, see you in a fortnight!
Great episode. And yes: any time you find you find you've bought a duplicate, add it to your give away box! (I bought a Della Q portfolio today thanks to your recommendation 😊 and I'm contemplating some of your yarn suggestions.... though I need to work with what I've got. My stash has grown alarmingly over the last six months!) Beautiful yarns, Kevin: I hope to purchase some in the not distant future!
Oh I love that idea! Our stash definitely has a mind of it’s own and I swear there are some yarn fairies that keep dropping things off without us knowing….lol
Have been looking at a new brioche project - thanks for the ideas! I do like that last hand-dyed work - when you said "patina" it almost made me think of calling it "Antique Cabinet" or something?
Somehow I just can’t stop myself from sharing another moment of language nerdery - I just love this stuff so much! In Norwegian and Swedish, the “A” with the little circle on top is pronounced like “O.” So Årsringar would be like “Oar-shring-gahr.” År = year ring = ring Add the “s” for possessive and the “ar” for plural, and you have Årsringar, “year rings,” or the annual growth rings you find in trees.
I love Wollens and Nosh yarns, so squishy and warm. Ray, on your socks, I love to use the self striping for the afterthought heel, because it makes a bullseye around the heel.
HEY YOU GUYS!!! Sorry for being so late in commenting, I just got back from reliving 2020 and 2021. Going to have to post about that in the "I blame Kevin & Ray, but really mostly Kevin" thread on Rav. Love the FOSHOW. To quote Ruby Rhod "Supergreen."
Great podcast you guys I love your enthusiasm for each other’s projects A tip my mum gave me for sticky needle yrs & yrs ago was run the needle through your hair near your scalp hey ho works for me 👍 no modern gadgets in her day just long steel needles & she knit with them under her arms & guided the tip through the yarn easy for her not an option for me See you in two weeks hope Dads birthday bash is a good one 🥳
Thank you for another great podcast. I have a suggestion for your yarn. I used to use zippered plastic bags, then I saw a friend opening a box with Crown Royal. Each bottle is in a draw string bag inside the box. The bags are different sizes to correlate with the different size bottles. I asked a friend who owns a bar to save the bags. Now I use them as yarn ball bags. I love them. They work great for center pulling - which is what I do. Best of all, I got them free!!!!
Totally agree that learning brioche is much easier with two colors. Just finished the brioche section of Shawlography and was successful because I was able to read my stitches more easily because of the two colors. I knew how to do brioche, but could not correct mistakes. Now I can because of the two colors making it possible to see which color stitch dropped. 🎶Thanks for The Beauty and The Beast song highlight. 🎵. I feel like “the girl who has everything” 🎶when it comes to knitting supplies. Until the next great tool or yarn I didn’t know about surfaces! 😂. Can’t wait for the shop update guys! 💕
So glad your pod casts are consistent, gives me something to look forward to!!! They sell Dot pretzels every where here in Iowa, gas stations, liquor stores and of course Walmart! Especially liked both hats! Ray, my Dad’s parents both came to USA from Italy, maybe we are related. Ha ha!
We have dots in the grocery store here in minnesota. They are great with ranch dip. Love all your projects, especially Ray’s shawl but all that brioche…. Yikes. Kevin you are going to be busy knitting all those sweaters in the Rowan book😉
The movie Externals was good. Also the new Mary Poppins is a nice fun watch. Murder in the Building is a good series. I will adopt FINISH as well. Thanks for the idea. Love those hats! Glad the smell is returning. Thanks for another fun watch. Be well.
**The best advice I've found for making socks fit a higher instep.** Just before starting the heel, increase the number of stitches to the next size up, work the heel for that larger size, then decrease again to work the foot/leg. Toe-up or cuff-down, it works every time! Magic, lol.
Absolutely love watching your podcast! Can always count on this to make me laugh! Ray, I love that brioche shawl. I have the Harry Potter advent too and have been trying to find the perfect pattern.
Both of your hats are gorgeous! Kevin you really dye yarn well….you have a real eye for colour (I have noticed that before…how you put yarns together)….! ~ afriendlyknitter
Kevin, love, love, love your Eno Hat!!! The color and size look great on you! Also, you should definitely give Ray more smooches (and not just because of his lip balm)!💕🤣🤣🤣 (Kate)
Omg. Why have I not cleaned my needles before!!! Working on the Find Your Fade shawl. Was thinking… am I knitting tighter? Why are my stitches dragging so much… Game changer. You’re the real MVP
Omg Kevin, the Rhubarb colorway...It's not my kind of color to wear but I think you really nailed it. It makes me wanna eat rhubarb pie or rhubarb jam. Yum! The colors fit perfectly with the name. Also the one with a lot of pink makes me think of some Duncan Hines cake mix with pink in it. I don't know if they still make those.
So nice to see y'all a day early! Well done Kevin on all the dying. Ray your brioche hat is so good. I'm still leary of starting a brioche pattern. Not sure my skill set is there yet. Oh guys can't wait until you get to watch Discovery of Witches. Soooooo good. Have a fabulous 2 weeks.
Hi Kevin and Ray! Hello from Westchester! I'm so happy to see your podcast pop up. Sitting here by the fire working on my Nordiska in Rauma Finullgarn which is completely amazing. Couple more rows before the colorwork! It seems huge but my gauge is fine. Oh well, fingers crossed. Hope I can finish in time for episode 4. PS: I clean my needles with rubbing alcohol when they get sticky. Sometimes Ciaogoo are sticky right out of the case.
Lads! I've also knitted the Churchmouse Folded Poncho. I'm currently making another one for a friend but with the optional cowl. But!!! Churchmouse just announced a new version this week - a split fibbed collar. Terrific!! Cheers.
I love your gemstone lookinging yarn Kevin! It makes me think of opal for some reason! I need to go on and buy some of your yarn sometime. And I love your shawl today Ray! There is also such a thing as cheeto bite deals in the dots too!
Hey Kevin...Greetings from a cold Scotland. I remember telling you about The Dalesman pattern book a few months back when you asked for ideas for patterns for guys. I have the book and have knitted two of the sweaters for my son. It's really a great book. Enjoying your podcast just now and love your cabled hat. Ray's brioche hat is also fantastic. I'll now stop writing now and watch the rest of your podcast.....Great to see you both onscreen again. Love to you both and Tarvin ..bless him. x
Kevin ..Norwegian knitting is so easy if you just take your time learning it. I was an English knitter or thrower but I had to learn a different way due to shoulder issues. I watched Arne & Carlos to learn this. I thought I would never get the purl but now it all comes really easy. It’s great, I am a faster knitter. Great show guys.
The Churchmouse Ravelry group is the nicest, friendliest group and I encourage you to join. We love seeing CM patterns in progress and if you ever get stuck, there are plenty of experts to help.
Thanks for another great episode! I probably say the same thing each time lol. I really liked both the hats y’all made as well as the other projects. I did have to laugh when Ray pulled out the sock book, Kevin. Wait til you are my age and you’ll forget much more than that😂
With it being so cold here in the Northeast, throw a bunch of garments and yarn in the trunk of your car for a few days to kill any moths and larvae. City Tweed is my favorite yarn--It is so warm and beautiful. I've made a sweater, several pairs of Suzie Rogers' Reading Mitts, a scarf, several Clapotis caps... Probably, I'll also use it for several Woodland Loafers... And, Kevin... Your colorways are gorgeous! I see a bunch of my colors in there! Hopefully, I can get home by six next week... I thought this is where I heard about the Sock Architecture book a while back...
Great catch up guys. Love your finished knits. Think I might be tempted to knit the cable hat for my husband. Laughed about the duplicate book because we call it “ man looking “ in our house - when the men cannot find what we know is there. So we say “ did you man look or woman look” - Kevin you obviously “man looked” 😂 hope the birthday afternoon was good. I am 3% Norwegian - so am sure I will be joining Arne and Carlos soon 😀. Looking forward to hanging out with you soon guys . 🧶🧶
Just started the Harkness series. I was able to find the first book in the online library (Internet Archive) which is so cool. I'm a library buff but hunkered down. Started watched Series 1 but have stopped until I catch up on the reading. Binge watching NATR and I'm itching for some of that beautiful yarn but fixed income and I have more than hobbies than just crocheting. Thanks guys--you bring it all--knitting et al.
To close that hole at the top of your Jared Flood hat, I know the yarn you used is prone to breaking... so use a short length of something stronger. Just run it thru the sts at the closing with a yarn needle. Pull tight, weave, etc. I do that when I'm afraid to pull tightly on a non-superwash or delicate yarn.
You guys - City tweed is everywhere in the podcasting universe right now. I am trying my best not to buy yarn (haha) but I might have to pick some up. You know I love a good gray. I love you two as always. Can't wait to see what you get up to. Take care, Karen
Kevin, I have been using this tip from Sox Therapist, it's on page 9 of the Fish Lips Kiss pattern,( I also have problems with sock fit because of high arches)before I start working the heel I add 6 stitches, spaced out evenly over the row(on size 1 needles with fingering weight yarn), then start the heel. It works on any heel, I have had good luck with it, I hope it helps. Love the yarn, I hope I can get some in the shop update. Take care and stay safe
Hi Dee, thank you so much for that suggestion, I will give that a try. I normally don’t have much of an issue with a heel flap and gusset, but with a fish lips or afterthought I have that issue.
Oh my goodness!!!! That Boneyard shawl is FAB!!!! it's coming through very nautical on my screen and it makes me want to make another one in similar colours! My Boneyard is also one of my faves
Kevin, Yeah most of those dyed skeins I loved. Just 3 of them was alright to me- holly jolly, yellow grass peak, and jasper. Most of the time I enjoy your blend style of colors for dying. I enjoyed. I got to see that special of Harry Potter. Next time. HAPPY NEW SEASON!
5 years ago I was introduced to Dot's pretzels by a co-worker, and when anyone would bring in a bag to share there would be groans that the food crack was in the house. They can be additive and before you know it the bag is empty; had to divide the big bag into snack size bags to make them last longer because there was only one place in town to buy them. So, enjoy your new snack!
Kevin, that Jasper (maybe) colorway is gorgeous! I knit Andrea Mowry's tinsel mitts for a friend for Christmas and there are three different options in one pattern, fingerless, mittens, and convertible mittens. It was my first time knitting anything mitten like and they came out well. I'm planning to knit the pattern again for myself, so I would definitely recommend the pattern.
Watching and listening to you two has been the best tonic for me as I get over this horrid covid virus. Thank you! Oh and I have just finished The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling which I think you will both love, so imaginative and such a great message of love, hope and forgiveness. I am sure it will be made into a film. I will now get back to knitting my little pink shawl. Thank you again for your lovely videos.
Hello from Mounds Illinois. Use a yarn bobbin to wrap the extra yarn around that way it stays out of the way. I have both sets of the shorties needles and love them.
Love all the projects and yarn. I read the Iron Druid and I do believe you will get introduced to South American Gods. It is one of the better Urban Fantasy books. Junkyard Druid is a good series to read as well. I enjoyed the Dresden Files (Warlock series) too.
🤣You're cracking me up....I did the same thing with the Vogue Knitting book!!! Little aside....read the acknowledgements in the back of the Sock Architecture book😏
Another fabulous episode! I would highly recommend the Crunkled Socks pattern by Kay Jones. I knit the entire pair this weekend and I just cast on a second pair. I did the shadow wrap heel and added a strand of mohair to the heel and toe color. Such a fun pattern
Mosiac knitting: not all yarn works with mosiac knitting. I always do a swatch to see if they work together, high contrast usually works best. There are many different ways to do mosiac knitting. You can knit one row, purl one row (garter stitch in the round), you can knit all rounds (stockinette stitch in the round), you can knit and purl one colour only, say your main color, in the round and the color b is done in stockinette st for the round or you can reverse the colors so color a is done in stockinette stitch and color b is done garter stitch again in the round. Sorry this explanation is so long but doing a swatch you can test out how the yarns show up Good luck with your cowl.
Oh my goodness... when Ray laughs, "how do you spell Shillelagh"🤣 It made me laugh knowing you had a hard time with Scottish "Musselburgh".... and now you are getting into the Irish words! 🤣😅 I always laugh at my husbands face when I tell him I want to go to Dùn Laoghaire on holiday! He just can reconcile what I'm saying with how it's spelt!
LisaR : Your shawl reminds me Of Big Ben if it were all lit up at night .. The black mixed strip below reminds me of the River Themes :) Finally , blue/grays the stone walkway at the rivers edge . It's something you probably wouldn't see unless you view from the screen - Very beautiful effect ❣️
Kevin: I feel like this is gonna be a short episode. Ray: Same! I am glad it was not. As I tink away at my Shawlography project for the millionth time, it was very uplifting to see your beautiful FOs. And brioche no less! Good for you Ray and I am so jealous because brioche is my downfall. Thanks for all the wonderful news and sharing. Kevin your new yarn colours are amazing! xx
I am also really tired of this cold weather. Just a tad colder than you at -35 C. But the last couple of days has been a little warmer, about +10 C. I happen you weather gets warmer.
I use sheer organza bags to separate skeins in my project bags so they don’t tangle with each other or if the yarn is in a cake I put it in a yarn cozy.
I dyed some wool with left over dyes from some wool I'd done for a sweater: mainly blued steel but with a little sour apple. We did the dyeing as a bit of a spontaneous fun thing after several vodkas on my son's birthday haha. The wool came out fantastic (now have to try to remember what I did to replicate it!) The wool has been christened 'Vodka Sock' after the manner of its creation....but the funniest thing is - my teetotal old dad saw the wool and requested socks (not knowing the back story...which we haven't shared). The kids think it's hilarious that grandad will be sporting 'vodka socks' 😆😆😆
Kevin - you are the boss of your knitting. Maybe if you tried purling every other row on your mosaic cowl, like you talked about, you would really love it. Try it for a row and see if you like it better before ripping everything out. Your color choice is lovely and will look so great as a mosaic piece. I did a mosaic test knit, a scarf, over the summer so I couldn't modify the pattern and it was stockinette. It curls, even with blocking, and I'll never wear it. I'm so disappointed in myself for doing that.
Yes, in love with Norwegian purling.... so much easier on my hands. Watched arne and Carlos video where Carlos teaches it. I'm a continental knitter because I primarily crochet.
Thanks. It was a great episod, i laughed at Ray's jokes about his "origins" lol. Kevin your dyeing is gorgeous, i love your work. Take care and not thank you for the dot's bretzel 😱, 😂😂 it's not good for the diet 😅
I was a professional genealogist before I retired and DNA was one of my specialties. It is interesting that what we may assume about our ancestors is not always true and even the differences in sibling DNA fascinates me. One of my brothers is a little more Irish than me and I have more Scottish than him. Because of DNA I was able to find cousins I knew nothing about and able to back to the 1700s as a result. I have a documented paper trail but DNA lead me there. Love your podcast!
Ray! That’s such an interesting point about doing brioche in non-superwash so that can spit-splice as a possible tool for correcting mistakes! I’m eyeing my first brioche project. I had super wash for it, but I’m going to switch yarn.
Yay! It's podcast day. My favorite cast on for socks is the Estonian cast on. It's stretchy and interesting looking. The instep issue is why I stick with a heel-flap and gusset for my socks for myself. I need a 3 inch heel flap to fit over my instep, then decrease every other row for half the picked up stitches, then every row till I'm back to my starting count. Works really well for my large instep/high arch, but relatively narrow circumference.
Make sure you sandpaper the cedar blocks so there is a definite cedar smell which is what moths don't like. the damage to wool is by the larva in eggs the tiny moths lay.
For the mug question, I have no clue where is a good place to sell them, but if you can put the logo on BOTH sides of the mug, then those of us who are left-handed can enjoy seeing it while we drink our tea/coffee/blood of enemies/whatever.
"I feel like its going to be a short episode" " Me too" ME: Checks time stamp ::sips tea:: LOL. Great episode!
Lol thanks 😊 We just have so much fun hanging out 🥰
Same!!
Your idea of using the small muslin bags from my previous advent as ball sacks is BRILLIANT! I’m definitely going to do this. ❤️ from 🇨🇦
Such a good idea, we definitely need to get some.
Wonderful to see your latest podcast and all your projects. What of the segments I always love best is seeing the yarns you have dyed. Spectacular creations! Best wishes for more January!
Hi Michael! Hope you are doing well. Thank you so much, I’ve been having a lot of fun with the dying lately.
Hi Guys!
I appreciated seeing all of your projects...they look amazing!
I also liked the surprise package with the loom in it, I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you so much Erin!
Happy Birthday Rays father. You are blessed with a very talented son and son in law. Another great episode. You are both so talented. God Bless.
Aww thanks so much 🥰🥰
OMG I LOVE THAT SHAWL AS SCARF. I've never made a shawl because I done wear "shawl"s. But the boneyard shawl as blanket scarf... I might do my first big project, a shawl to wear as blanket scarf.

Hi Cindy, Thank you so much for joining us and commenting, we really appreciate it.
A whole day before I even expected, SO HAPPY to see you both and Happy Birthday to Ray's Dad.
Thanks so much 😊
Podcast ended to quickly love watching you guys and love the dye yarn
Aww thanks so much 🥰
Yay looking good guys. I just thought today that you might be here this weekend so….?…fabulous that you are. Now I will sit and watch you 🧶🧶
Yay! Thanks so much for coming to hang out with us 🥰🥰
Your wool dyeing is gorgeous and the playing with colours is fascinating!
Aww thanks so much! It’s been a ton of fun 🥰
Kevin, so glad your sense of smell is returning! Good sign!!
Me too, so happy to getting the smell and taste back.
Thanks so much! I’m glad too 😊😊
Kevin, I love your colorways! You did such an amazing job! Ray, your Harlow Worsted matches your Slipstravaganza! Great episode 👏🏼
Also, where can I purchase the Rowan magazine? There are so many men's sweaters in there that I want to knit! Thanks 😊
Thank you! I bought the magazine from Amazon.
Congrats on another fun episode! Always love hanging out with you guys. Kevin, that Eno hat turned out so well! I’ll have to give it a try.
Thanks!! So glad you like it!! You totally should knit it up, it was super quick 😊
Kevin, your kind mention brought a smile to my morning! I have completed my "binge watching" of all of your & Ray's episodes and lives! Thanks so much Ann! We really appreciate you going back and catching the older ones 🥰
Ray, your birthday wishes to your Dad were wonderful!
Great episode. And yes: any time you find you find you've bought a duplicate, add it to your give away box! Have been looking at a new brioche project - thanks for the ideas!
I do like that last hand-dyed work - when you said "patina" it almost made me think of calling it "Antique Cabinet" or something?
I ended up calling it Ocean Jasper 😀
Somehow I just can’t stop myself from sharing another moment of language nerdery - I just love this stuff so much!

Rhubarb is just like the plant. I love it!
I love Wollens and Nosh yarns, so squishy and warm. Ray, on your socks, I love to use the self striping for the afterthought heel, because it makes a bullseye around the heel.
Hi Shannon, Her yarn is beautiful, such fun colors too.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Hope I’m lucky enough to purchase a skein or two or three of Kevin’s yarn. Love the colorways!
Thanks so much!! It’s been a lot of fun coming up with them 🥰
The sock book duplicate nearly killed me-I'm pretty sure I added it to my Christmas list after you guys mentioned it at some point :-D
Lovely knits and what beautiful yarn!!!
Thanks Donna 🥰🥰
Kevin I hope you aren't getting sick!! Ray you crack me up, your comment "stop watching us"!!! 😂🤣 Love you guys!!!
Thanks MaryAnn! Kevin is in denial that he has seasonal allergies lol 😂
Your yarn is beautiful. I started doing small batches in the summer of 2020 and I fell in love with yarn dying.
It’s so fun!! It’s like a little surprise when it’s all dyed and dried 🥰🥰

I love your enthusiasm for each other’s projects
A tip my mum gave me for sticky needle yrs & yrs ago was run the needle through your hair near your scalp hey ho works for me 👍 no modern gadgets in her day just long steel needles & she knit with them under her arms & guided the tip through the yarn easy for her not an option for me
See you in two weeks hope Dads birthday bash is a good one 🥳
Thanks sue. Lol who needs new fangled gadgets anyway lol 😂
Great idea for the yarn storage!
My husband is 50% Irish. We made that trip to "the family" county. It was fascinating- and it was a great trip ( so many sheep! so very many!)
Oh how fun!! Would love a trip there 🥰
Enjoyed the podcast. I share my anniversary(39th) with Rays dad birthday. Love the hats. 😍 All the yarn you dyed Kevin. The color ways are gorgeous.
Aww happy anniversary!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

LOL Kathy 😀We really try to be as consistent as possible with the channel, thank you for noticing.
Great podcast. Just love spending time with you.
Aww thanks Donna! We love spending time with you all too ❤️❤️
We have dots in the grocery store here in minnesota. They are great with ranch dip. Love all your projects, especially Ray’s shawl but all that brioche…. Yikes. Kevin you are going to be busy knitting all those sweaters in the Rowan book😉
Yes!! What a great idea to dip them!! Love it 😍 And yes, those patterns are AMAZING 🤩
The movie Externals was good. Also the new Mary Poppins is a nice fun watch. Murder in the Building is a good series. I will adopt FINISH as well. Thanks for the idea. Love those hats! Glad the smell is returning. Thanks for another fun watch. Be well.
Thanks Sheri! We haven’t seen Murder in the Building but the others were good 😊
You are both always so entertaining! Thanks so much! Best of luck with your shop update!
Thank you, MaryAnn 🥰
I love watching your podcasts. You guys are great. Thank you!
Aww thank you Nicole 🥰

Omg. Why have I not cleaned my needles before!!! Working on the Find Your Fade shawl. Was thinking… am I knitting tighter? Why are my stitches dragging so much… Game changer.
You’re the real MVP
It is a game changer, I do it anytime I feel the yarn having issues sliding off the needles.
Yes!! Love a good cake 🎂😉🥰🥰🥰

Hi Jerrold, Thanks for letting us know, we will check it out.
Easy folded poncho is fabulous when traveling. A mindless knit that is a favorite.
Ray has really been enjoying knitting it.
I love your gemstone lookinging yarn Kevin! It makes me think of opal for some reason! I need to go on and buy some of your yarn sometime. And I love your shawl today Ray! There is also such a thing as cheeto bite deals in the dots too!
I heard about the Cheeto variety!! Sooo excited to try them 🥰🥰
The skein you called Jasper is exactly like the gemstone Picture Jasper!! One of my fav stones. I need that skein!!! Can’t wait 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I love that color, I am going to try it again on a 75/25 and see how it turns out.
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast One of the beauties of it is the ability to put sooo many colors with it!! ❤️
I love every project you showed today! Those shawls are especially yummy.
Aww thanks ❤️
Hey Kevin...Greetings from a cold Scotland. I remember telling you about The Dalesman pattern book a few months back when you asked for ideas for patterns for guys. I have the book and have knitted two of the sweaters for my son. It's really a great book. Enjoying your podcast just now and love your cabled hat. Ray's brioche hat is also fantastic. I'll now stop writing now and watch the rest of your podcast.....Great to see you both onscreen again. Love to you both and Tarvin ..bless him. x
Thank you so much! So many awesome patterns in this book. I bet your sons absolutely love them 🥰🥰
Norwegian purl makes ribbing go faster. It’s been knitting life changing!
It looks really cool, may have to try it at some point.
Thanks Lisa! I keep meaning to check out their tutorial but keep forgetting! Lol 😂
The Churchmouse Ravelry group is the nicest, friendliest group and I encourage you to join. We love seeing CM patterns in progress and if you ever get stuck, there are plenty of experts to help.
Oh nice! Maybe we’ll check them out 🥰
OMGeeee I about died! -I have this large dinglehopper hanging out-😂😂😂 Happy birthday to your dad!! Mine is the 26th 😀
Happy Birthday!!
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast Awee Thank you 🥰
Thanks for another great episode! I probably say the same thing each time lol. I really liked both the hats y’all made as well as the other projects. I did have to laugh when Ray pulled out the sock book, Kevin. Wait til you are my age and you’ll forget much more than that😂
Lol I totally knew that book looked familiar haha 😂
Lol the sock book debacle was funny! I’m so happy to hear that the city tweed wears so well! I hope our friend likes it 🥰
Great catch up guys. 🧶🧶
Haha I absolutely love this!! I’m so stealing the man looking phrase!! Haha 😂
Aww thanks! So glad you are enjoying it!! I’m so happy you were able to find the series 🥰🥰
Good tip, thank you.
You guys - City tweed is everywhere in the podcasting universe right now. I am trying my best not to buy yarn (haha) but I might have to pick some up. You know I love a good gray. I love you two as always. Can't wait to see what you get up to. Take care, Karen
It’s such an awesome and soft yarn! I’m interested to see how it blocks and wears 🥰
Thanks Dee!! This is really great advice 🥰🥰
Oh my goodness!!!! That Boneyard shawl is FAB!!!! it's coming through very nautical on my screen and it makes me want to make another one in similar colours! My Boneyard is also one of my faves
Thank you, love the Boneyard shawl, can definitely see the nautical vibe from it.
It’s such a fun knit and we totally forgot how easy it is to modify and personalize it ❤️
Kevin, Yeah most of those dyed skeins I loved.
So, enjoy your new snack!
lol 😂 exactly!! I have to put them in small snack bowls or the bag is gone in one sitting!! Haha 😂
Thank you!!! I am really happy with the way it turned out. Tinsel mitts will definitely be in our future.
Loving all the beautiful colors of yarns for the shop update. REALLY hoping to be able to snag some of them. Great show!
Thank you so much, I am really happy with the way the colors have been turning out.
Thanks so much!! It was so much fun seeing how it all dyes up 🥰
Watching and listening to you two has been the best tonic for me as I get over this horrid covid virus. Thank you! Oh and I have just finished The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling which I think you will both love, so imaginative and such a great message of love, hope and forgiveness. I am sure it will be made into a film. I will now get back to knitting my little pink shawl. Thank you again for your lovely videos.
Thanks so much! We’re glad we could keep you company. Sending you lots of healing thoughts 🥰
Hello from Mounds Illinois. Use a yarn bobbin to wrap the extra yarn around that way it stays out of the way. I have both sets of the shorties needles and love them.
Thank you for this! I don’t have any yarn bobbins but it could be worth a look 🥰🥰
Love all the projects and yarn. I read the Iron Druid and I do believe you will get introduced to South American Gods. It is one of the better Urban Fantasy books. Junkyard Druid is a good series to read as well. I enjoyed the Dresden Files (Warlock series) too.
Love love love your yarn! I’m setting my alarm for next Friday! 💕
Aww thank you 😊
Those loops make the best potholders!!!
🤣You're cracking me up....I did the same thing with the Vogue Knitting book!!! Little aside....read the acknowledgements in the back of the Sock Architecture book😏
Chevas that is so freaking cool!!!
Keep going on the mosaic project! I think it those subtle cc rows will pop more as you do more and then once you block it, it will show too!
Thank you! I agree. Hopefully he keeps going with it 🥰
Another fabulous episode! I would highly recommend the Crunkled Socks pattern by Kay Jones. I knit the entire pair this weekend and I just cast on a second pair. I did the shadow wrap heel and added a strand of mohair to the heel and toe color. Such a fun pattern
Hi Laura! Thank you for the suggestion, we’ve added it to our queue 😀
Thank you for the info Donna!
Oh my goodness... when Ray laughs, "how do you spell Shillelagh"🤣
It made me laugh knowing you had a hard time with Scottish "Musselburgh".... and now you are getting into the Irish words! 🤣😅 I always laugh at my husbands face when I tell him I want to go to Dùn Laoghaire on holiday! He just can reconcile what I'm saying with how it's spelt!
Lol 😂 this made me laugh out loud! It’s sooo true haha 😆
I feel the struggle with the glasses 😅 I have like three pair for that very reason! Loving the projects you’re working on!
Thanks Zach! I’m am definitely going to get a couple pairs this time around.
Nicha..Hello I like that you guys live in Connecticut. I live 3 cities away from you. I watch you two because I can get some yarn from local shops
Oh that’s awesome! Hi neighbor 😊
Wow! Love this description!! It’s so perfect 🥰🥰
Kevin your new yarn colours are amazing! xx
Thanks Lesley!! I have to say the Harlow hat would be a great project to learn brioche. Her video tutorials are great 👍🏻
I am also really tired of this cold weather.
Great idea with the organza bags.
Boneyard shawl was my first shawl 3 years ago. I did it in Noro, a gorgeous turquoise.
Oh I bet it’s beautiful!! Love how noro knits up 🥰🥰
I dyed some wool with left over dyes from some wool I'd done for a sweater: mainly blued steel but with a little sour apple.
Omg love that story!!!
Hi Diana! That is a great suggestion, thank you.
I was wondering if a book on sock’s techniques existed and boom! you talk about one 😀 I will look for a copy . Thank you!
Yay!! Glad we were able to help you find a sock technique book.
Dots are the bomb! Thank you for the afternoon company. They are good dipped in cheese!
Mmm 😋 that sounds awesome!!
Yes, in love with Norwegian purling.... so much easier on my hands. Watched arne and Carlos video where Carlos teaches it. I'm a continental knitter because I primarily crochet.
Norwegian purling is very interesting looking, I watched the Very Pink Knits tutorial, she described it as a dance, it looks really cool.
Thanks. It was a great episod, i laughed at Ray's jokes about his "origins" lol. Kevin your dyeing is gorgeous, i love your work. Take care and not thank you for the dot's bretzel 😱, 😂😂 it's not good for the diet 😅
Omg lol 😂 it’s totally not but we just upgraded to the larger bags 😳😳🥰

I was a professional genealogist before I retired and DNA was one of my specialties. It is interesting that what we may assume about our ancestors is not always true and even the differences in sibling DNA fascinates me. One of my brothers is a little more Irish than me and I have more Scottish than him. Because of DNA I was able to find cousins I knew nothing about and able to back to the 1700s as a result. I have a documented paper trail but DNA lead me there. Love your podcast!
Love this!! I can’t wait for my brothers to do it too!! It’ll be so neat to see their results 🥰🥰
Ray! That’s such an interesting point about doing brioche in non-superwash so that can spit-splice as a possible tool for correcting mistakes! I’m eyeing my first brioche project. I had super wash for it, but I’m going to switch yarn.
Doing that hat in non-super wash was a life saver.
Yeah! So great to see you both! Some great knitting going on in your house! Sweaters? Future /dream knitting? Thank you for sharing!
Hi Kathy! Sweaters are definitely in the future. I think we have both really been enjoying the quick/smaller knits.
Oh cool!! Love learning a new cast on! Thank you, we’ll check it out 😊
Here's where I learned it, from the inestimable Nancy Bush: ua-cam.com/video/Frc5_9AIVy0/v-deo.html
Arne & Carlos move on over! 😆😂🧶🇳🇴 Those striped sox are so cute, Ray! 🌈🧦 Love the skeins of pink & yellow and turquoise & olive, Kevin!
Thank you so much Lynne!
Thanks so much!! Lol 😂
Make sure you sandpaper the cedar blocks so there is a definite cedar smell which is what moths don't like. the damage to wool is by the larva in eggs the tiny moths lay.
Oh thanks for the tip!! We didn’t know that 🥰
For the mug question, I have no clue where is a good place to sell them, but if you can put the logo on BOTH sides of the mug, then those of us who are left-handed can enjoy seeing it while we drink our tea/coffee/blood of enemies/whatever.
Love this idea!! And the end of this made me totally laugh out loud!! Haha 😂
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast That's just how I roll. ;-)
That last skein you showed reminds me of your logo colors. Should be named needles at the ready. 🙂
Aww I didn’t even see that ❤️❤️
