Hello Chris this exersice is suggested by Stuart Mcgill too, because you train isometrically the lower back stability!
Used this exercise as a primer to sandbag carries with a 150# bag. Definitely helped warm up torso rigidity and breathing pattern. Felt way stronger during the sandbag carries as a result.
