I love that you stick up for the makeup underdogs and that you will pull out older products that many of us probably still have but maybe forgotten. I swear you can make any makeup product work and look polished!

I always recommend Emily to basically all makeup beginners! She explains every step and names her brushes without presupposing that the viewer had watched half of UA-cam before. That's after all these years. I admire her approach and consistency
@@emilynoel83 Emily can you re review Haus Labs (lady Gaga’s brand) products again, since they’ve been reformulated. Man I was so so disappointed along with so many others when they first came out, but her reformulating them was so smart and they are so so good now! I don’t know if she was in a rush getting her brand out before, or she didn’t know the standards of makeup people now expect or what, but she definitely fixed what was the issue now.
Oh, Maybelline reformulated their Shadow tattoo pots and extended the shade range so they have mac paint pot dupes but the formula now is sooo much better. They are so much creamier and more blendable and even while being pigmented but having a thinner consistency and they don’t immediately dry out now like they did before. Highly recommend you trying them again and even try some of their mattes that are more flesh tone as an eye primer.

It’s summer, and I’m loving those light weight products, or what I call “watercolor makeup.” A sheer wash of color, dewy, healthy, nothing sticky and heavy. ❤️🥰

I bought that clear mascara for my brows because that's what UA-camrs used back in the day, but it couldn't handle my bushy brows so I started using hairspray instead 😂😂 glad we have more options nowadays!
Omg what a reminder! That was my go to in high-school when nothing I could afford held my big brows. I'd spray my brow brush (old mascara wand, if I recall correctly) and then right away on the brows. Held perfectly all day, and I had hairspray anyway for my hair.
That was only 9 years ago, cause I graduated in 2012. 😅

That's the eyebrow pencil my grandmother always used. I colored her hair every 4 weeks and she would get angry if her hair had a hint of red in it so I always mentioned her eyebrows and she would get mad at me, lol. That's such a great memory now that she's gone. 🥰

I've been hearing Essence's products are stepping up. I hate the flavor of their lipsticks and am still angry to this day that The Velvets solo eyeshadows line has been dc'd. I've abused Mr. Mocca Bean,and Taupe Secret for years.
I used to use those brow pencils in medium brown as a lip liner with my Toast of New York Lipstick from Revlon. The 90s all the way! 😂

Yes and then we were pretty much using only 1 shadow so it worked fine. I had my beautiful blue cover girl shadow my cover girl make up in the pot. It was so thick but covered a pimple. I never did brows or mascara but I loved make up. Those were the days. Oh I spent most of my time doing my Farrah Fawcett hair do. I had the BEST TIMES . I would definitely go back and do it again.

We could stay out until dark riding around all the neighborhoods with cute boys. Swimming at our local pool club. Going to the fair.. Everything is such a happy memory. I had to share lol

My mother (age 80) is a makeup lover and she STILL uses that old school eyebrow pencil! When she travels she uses that pencil as eyeliner too!

I love how your eye look turned out. I love intense shimmers, but there's something so nice about soft shimmers, or satin finishes. I would love to see more videos like this from other brands at Walmart, Loreal, Covergirl, Revlon, Almay etc.

My first eyeshadow palette was from CG. Four pans, green, blue, champagne and brown.
I used to love CG three pan blushes.
Almay would be great...they came out with some gorgeous blushes but the rest of their products are super old school if that makes any sense

also, a request: i remember back in the day you gave a very good review of Revlon Colorstay Whipped, which prompted me to buy it, and it ended up becoming my favorite foundation. i would love to see a video where you use that again and see if your feelings are the same since it's very creamy like the dream matte mousse but less airy feeling and thicker. it works great on my combo to oily skin but i'd like to see if someone with normal to dry skin could appreciate it. ty, love you! x

Oh my goodness! The brow product in the red packaging!!! I totally remember my mom using it when I was in junior high school! I would take a lighter to it to soften it and use it as an eyeliner😂

Tucked away, I have one of few "keepsakes" of Mother: a red plastic container of Mabaline black cake mascara. I remember her using it lightly on her brows. That and a touch of lipstick is all I remember her wearing on the rare occasion she "got dolled up." Thinking that mascara dates to the late '50's - early '60's. One other thing I kept is her Art Deco 1930's hand mirror. (She was born in 1911. I came along in ''53. Yes, really.
They may be dated products but your makeup looks beautiful. Just goes to show you that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to accentuate natural beauty.

I’m 33 (& Esthetician by Profession) and I love this formula because it gives me coverage but keeps me feeling natural and matte for a good 6 hours!

In my country I haven't seen Colour tattoo for a long time and in a few years it will be a problem for me, because I use '40 permanent taupe' as my eyebrow pomade. I used one jar up in about 5 years! Now I'm on a second one halfway through and have about half left (2 years worth). What's amazing is that the first one haven't dried out in all five years of daily use.😍

I very much appreciate how you show everyone that a beautiful face is easily achieved with choice drug store makeup. Some items more than others. I recently was out of town for the weekend. I took an eye shadow palette as one of my eye palette choices in Nude Awakening. It worked out perfectly!! I use cosmetics of both high end and drug store cosmetics all the time. I use what I like, and am not loyal to one brand.
The dream bouncy blushes were my all time favs; so bummed they discontinued! Love and still use the mousse foundation in the glass jar; so glad you pulled it out for a review; it definitely rivals some of the high end others, in my humble opinion…

This was really fun and I enjoyed it so much. Dream matte mousse was what I used to wear back in 2008-ish and I used the mousse blush too! The blush was amazing! I wish I could still get it... I also used to wear the loreal mineral powder that had the brush that screwed into the top lol! Also the loreal mineral concealer....wow...the good ole days. I loved what you said about how if the dream matte had a Charlotte Tilbury label on it then everyone would rave about it.

I LOVED the bouncy blushes. I had a coral colored one and I think it’s one of the only blushes I’ve ever actually finished.

I may be in the minority, but for years Maybelline had the Dream Smooth Mousse compact foundation and it was so good! It’s similar to KVD’s Good Apple Balm foundation, but I remember Maybelline’s to be a little harder pressed and not as oily/creamy in consistency as KVD’s. Maybelline’s would spread on my face so nicely with the little sponge that came in the compact and the coverage was perfect. It looked like my skin and lasted all day, even back in those days I wore masks a lot because I would work in the OR. I am sad it is gone, it was amazing.
Agreed 💯 That was the only foundation I didn't have to wear concealer with, and it just smoothed out my skin like nothing else. I was so disappointed when they discontinued it.
I always used that eyeliner. I use the Rocket Waterproof because as I have aged my lashes don't stay curled..even when I use the tried and true warming up my eyelash curler. I can usually find the mascara for a good price on ebay. Thanks for featuring Maybelline...always a good brand.😁
My tried and true mascara is the Covergirl super-sizer in waterproof. It lengthens not much volume but keeps my lash curled. Try it.

Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand. I just repurchased the Brow Fast Sculpt, and the brightener concealer, both of these are my staples that I always use. I always keep a tube of the Great Lash mascara in clear and blackest black in my collection. The clear one I use when I want my lashes lifted, but I don't want to look like I'm wearing mascara, and the blackest black always helps to revitalize what other mascara I might be wearing that started to break apart.
Loved the natural smokes quad back in the day.

I love Dream Matte Mousse, I've worn this for over a decade, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and helps keep my oily skin in control. Now that I'm older, I can still wear it I just don't wear powder. And I apply just like you do with my clean fingers, that is the best way. I really wish that Maybelline would improve the shade range though.
I won’t lie, I love the quad autumn coppers. The formula is questionable but I absolutely love the look I get from it. I don’t follow the layout by what they say, but I like the look I get from it. It could easily be my favorite go to look with a bold lip. It’s not a copper vibe but great for everyday.

Great throw-back tribute, Em! Glad Bub had a good Father's Day! My son Alex & his girlfriend Rylie invited us to a Detroit Tigers game this past Saturday. I had not been to a game since 1988! My boyfriend is from CA and has only lived in Michigan since 2018. We both loved it!! I've been using Maybelline since I was a young teenager back in the '70s! What a great testament to their longevity and improvements over time! Currently loving the Lifter gloss and the Matte Ink Crayons.
Remember when Revlon had the Color Stay whipped foundation? It was too much moisture for me at the time, but I sure would love it now!
In my 20’s I wore the maybelline Mat mousse. I apply it sparingly. That’s the only foundation that didn’t make me look old back than. Every other foundation looked horrible back in that day. I want to buy it again
I remember applying this with a white latex cosmetic wedge.... I feel like the new version of this is the new Loreal balm foundation! I love it.

Hi Emily, one suggestion for a video (or at least a mention within a video) I would be interested in is your makeup organization AND your process for pulling products out of storage. Do you keep at hand certain products for a period of time or do you pull out of from their permanent place products on a daily basis? I have a tendency to keep at hand (where I get ready) only the products that I pulled out for a look or products that I recently acquired, and I just keep using those even when I have a plethora of products in drawers.
You reminded of the Maybelline gel eyeliner. I remember everyone was using it back in the day. I need to get it again. I used to love it! I should give Maybelline mascaras another try after I go through the ones I have now. I’m considering throwing my Essence Lash Princess one because I swear they changed the formula. It never smudged on me before and now it won’t even make it halfway through the day.
Thanks for the video! My Maybelline go-tos are vanilla eye shadow (applied to the lid with the provided sponge tip applicator) and The Falsies mascara. I am also a fan of L’Oreal Voluminous mascara.
I still use Maybelline Great Lash! I know a ton of people hate it but it makes my lashes look long. I think my favorite part about it is it easy to remove, conditions my lashes, and doesn’t feel like it’s ripping out my lashes when I take it off.
Would love to see this in a Neutrogena or Almay version! I feel like those brands have been pushed out of the spotlight but I used to be a sucker for the Neutrogena skin clearing foundation. Love your channel! 💕💕
You’re the reason I bought many Maybelline products. But one that sticks out is a quad called like Designer Chocolates. I wore the heck outta that thing!! You have influenced so many makeup purchases over the years especially when I was in my teens. I’ve been watching for a long long time.
Hey Em! Great minds think alike!!! I literally just pulled out the Mayb. Matte Mousse today! I agree that a brightening serum/primer could cut down on the matte-ness. I was just thinking this today and am going to try the Nars Glow Primer (not sure exact name). I will say…the matte held up all!!! day with a matte finish during a crazy heat wave on oily/combo skin. The only fading with the foundation was around the cheeks, but I did go heavy with a cream highlighter which I think may have affected it a touch.
I have auburn hair and that brow pencil looks like it would suit me really well. I still have a maybelline eye studio quad in cozy cashmere and I’m still in love with it. Those were the best quads in my opinion!

Dream matte mouse was my secret weapon in HS. (Around 2004) I use to use a triangle sponges to apply it. I had a skincare routine back then, too. So, it would apply smoothly.
