I was privileged to produce this tour and this concert but the BBC - I am so grateful to Steve Taylor for sourcing this video recording - deepest gratitude - i miss Louie so much - blessings Louie for your friendship, your kindness, your amazing playing, the wonderful bands and the great music - So happy to see Bobby Shew, Arnie Lawrence (so sadly missed), Joe Romano and all those fabulous players - blessing to you all.

Thank you Steve and Peter. I just uncovered the Hale Rood charts to this tour, abandoned in a storage locker in Seattle. I think Hale is perhaps the second trombonist in this video (glasses). Anyway, University of Washington jazz will keep the flame going on this. The charts are involved (!) Blessings.

American Big Bands always go for it head on,they never hold back, and the college music system there makes us look so backward. We have lived off the North's brass band tradition to supply so many of our top players, that's what happens when you have privileged public schoolboy politicians in charge of your educational institutions.

I sat in several times on drums (Thank u, Lorca Hart) in 2005 w/ John Heard at Charlie O's in Van Nuys. I remember he extended his bass out in font of him!. At that time I didn't know he had played w/ both Basie AND Louie!
