- There is unbelievable lure fishing in this lake. What an action packed episode this week from Graeme, Mike, and Grant at the Tackle shop. First out of the traps, it’s Mike and Graeme pitching lures into a largely unfished lake in Hampshire and they get blasted by big fish..all the action is on a couple of mini-spin bait rods but with upgraded line. They get some awesome bends in the toothpicks.
Then Graeme reveals a bait rigging tip from an era when he was totally engrossed in Big Game fishing round the World, racking up everything from Blue Marlin, to Wahoo, Barracuda to Giant Trevally on the troll. He passes on some rigging tips for those Pike anglers wanting to maybe get a bit more action out of their deadbaits. Finally, just when he thought could would grab some fishing time along came yet another storm with high winds, which planted a fallen tree smack over his sheds. But nothing gets wasted from this windfall, as you will see...Enjoy.

I've often thought a few times about converting an old fly rod to a light lure rod. I know that you ae a fan of "frankensteining" rods. Many years ago when i was a kid I used to occasionally spin in the rivers for sea trout using an 16th oz ABU droppen spinner. I have the handle still on the bottom section of my dads old spinning rod and could possible use that (lost the top section but kept hold of it for sentimental reasons)
The problem is you need a stiffer rod to set the hook properly for pike.
I like using jig flies, on my stiffer road the hook up rate is significantly better.

The Roach deadbaits at my local tackle shop are imported from Europe according to them. They get them from Billingsgate Market in London. They do have a thicker body shape than native Roach that I've caught.
Anyone think fishing should be taught atleast once in school?…it’s massively helpful towards mental health, anyone suffering with depression could do with getting out by the water
It would be great, but the reality is some parents won't let their kids use a pencil if it's too sharp in school, imagine them with hooks, line, bait, and then the hippy brigade that would jump at the chance to talk about animal cruelty.

Just finished pike fishing for the winter, 40+ fish this season, two over 20lb, a bit of sea fishing this weekend and we have a couple of new lakes to try, when the rivers open up my main aim this year is a pb grayling, just need a bit less rain, the rivers around me have been in flood for most of last years, could do with a dryish spring, love your videos Graham, keep em coming
This winter and spring have been bizarre for rain and wind. I have never known so much in the water table . Good luck with a p.b. Grayling.

Hello Greame, wow what a session, really enjoyed this mate, im back to willinghurst tomorrow, this time with the Carp gear, im desperate for some runs, and my angling mate gave me two shimaro reels 8000 series, so kind of him and there in mint condition, so fingers crossed, im optomistic, warm as well got to be good for a few, all the best mate.
