Hearing your delight at things like the toolbelt and the non-interrupting levelups really exemplify for me the many qol changes that rs3 imo does not get enough credit for. As you said in the video. I'm only about 10 minutes into the video so far, I'm a long term player of RS3, currently playing a skiller as my main account because I lost access to my 15+ year old account, but I'm really enjoying this so far. The two games are very similar but so different at the same time and seeing someone come over to the version I prefer to play and have the willingness to give it a try and want to enjoy it is really nice. Getting to see someone experience all the new things while having a good understanding of the base elements of the game reminds me of trying all the new updates when they came out. I really hope you continue this and get hours of entertainment from it!
i really enjoy this because you are so open to the changes. taking it as a separate game that it is. very fun to watch. you also made me redownload after 5 years of not playing. not sure if i should thank or scorn you. but either way I'll give you a sub.
I really hope you continue this series i love your outlook towards this game. I also love that you're reading the tooltips and learning the new systems in rs3 instead of immediately closing it and running around lost like literally every other OSRS player who tried to make a rs3 video
played a lot of osrs myself, also decided to try out rs3 recently just for shits and giggles. Actually enjoyed it a lot although the sheer amount of new mechanics and content was a bit overwhelming and I wasn't in the mood to have to delve through the wiki for rs3 like i did on osrs back when i started, so i never got too far.
its good to see someone really experiencing the differences between osrs and rs3 and enjoying it, not instantly calling it 'ezscape' due to QoL changes
I don't think they call it ezscape because the QOL changes, I think they call it that because of the insane xp rates no? For example, burring the bone for the tutorial gets you level 5 prayer. That's not QOL, that just makes the game progression much much faster. In a game where the only difficulty is "how long can you grind" that equates it to making the game easier.
@@ModernHam Pretty much sums it up. Folks call RS3 an "easier" game because the skill grinds take much less lime, even though skilling and levelling up isn't really the focus of the game anymore. RS3 still retains that identity to a lesser degree, though it's much more fast-paced at the early levels so players can actually get to the fun parts of the game (which is mostly PvM) without having to spend a hundred hours just to get to an entry level. Skilling and the associated accomplishment of reaching a high level is still pretty important to OSRS players, so anything that makes that faster or easier means a lesser game, according to them.
@@TheFlyingslug I think the end game content is much easier on RS3 as well though. Bossing in RS3 takes a youtube video or two, and you're off to the races. Raids in OSRS are a completely different animal, to the point of alienating everyone except the "hardcore gamers"
@@ModernHam I personally think a lot of the higher-level bosses in RS3 demand a considerable amount of skill from the player, though that's more a personal opinion thing than anything founded on empirical fact. Araxxor's relatively simple (Do this one mechanic per phase and use Anticipate / Freedom every once in a while so you don't get cocooned) while bosses like Raskha are a test of proper DPS rotations and continuous prayer switching to minimize damage taken while dealing enough damage to phase the boss before he does anything too punishing. HM Glacor is a test of endurance at higher enrages, and HM Kerapac and even NM Zuk *require* you to properly and efficiently rotate defensive abilities in order to survive. In either case, guide videos will always provide a rudimentary understanding of how to fight a boss, but experience means a heck of a lot more than your gear or how many guide videos you've watched.
ironic part is im actually like u but in the opposite way being that ive only played rs3 off and on for the past 15 to 20 years but have recently jumped into osrs since im almost maxed. Im super excited to see the view from the opposite side lol i also cant wait till u start bossing its gonna be a totally new world for u man. Im also really happy to have someone who is doing this that is not simply doing "bad game ahhaha" jokes the whole video its a nice change of pace since thats the norm its a very sad thing to see since each game is great for different reasons hell i tell people all the time do go into one expecting it to be like the other.
I really really enjoy your approach ti this, every other osrs UA-camr os just coming into rs3 expecting it to be just the same as osrs but its never going to be the same! This game has its own places to shine

Excited to watch you grown in rs3! I came back to it from osrs a year and a half ago and I'm in love with it! Just gotta remember they're 2 different games!
Hey man saw your post on reddit and subbed to follow the series. Excited to see how you progress going in relatively blind. I did the same on my RS3 ironman after trying RS3 on a main for a few months. It's a really great game for ironman mode because there is so much content for each skill that you don't feel pigeonholed into one activity. Make sure to do your dailies!
Niiice, another osrs player joins the rs3 enjoyers! I played runescape awhile ago and returned to it over 3 years ago... and I don't regret it. Ironically, I was unaware of the osrs/rs3 split at the time (previous time I played was when dung was the newest skill) and only rejoined after watching a certain swamp man, but I like rs3. It's also gotten me to try out osrs, see what's different between rs3 and it (especially lore-wise, as I am what is commonly referred to as a lorehound). It's also interesting seeing you react to all the differences. Going from complimenting how varrock looks to suddenly seeing how different demon slayer is... Your reaction was hilarious. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you enjoy the game further, especially where it differentiates itself from osrs. And if you need any help... I'm far from the best player, but I can try to answer any questions you have.
I can tell this series will be great! im an rs3 player who watches a lot of old school content (even started an osrs account and now i can enjoy both) im excited to see some good rs3 content for someone going in blind but with a lot of knowledge from the original game.
As someone who plays RS3 often and watches a lot of OSRS content, it is fun to see somebody coming at it the other way around and getting to experience the many QoL changes that Jagex has made in RS3 for the first time. Sure, it comes alongside a bunch of "easyscape" early game hyper-progression, an insanely inflated economy (which isn't an issue since you're on Ironman mode), and microtransactions out the wazoo (also less impactful on Ironman, since you don't get all the bonus experience stuff). Also a lot of the content is late game focused, because of the mature playerbase (i.e. ancient characters who maxed 10 years ago), but it's definitely a game worth experiencing, and I'm going to enjoy watching you do just that.
I have never even heard of you, nor do i play runescape anymore, i used to play osrs and rs3 both. But your video just popped up in my suggestions and i am so glad i decided to click on it. I enjoy watching you play rs3 as a beginner as that was how i was when i used to play it. Everything was so big and confusing and i didnt know what to do.
well thanks man ! glad i popped up for you, i watch lots of videos on games that i no longer play and sometimes thats enough to scratch the itch, plus it keeps you updated if you ever want to jump back in. Glad to have you here !

The Mining and Smithing skills received a significant rework on 7 January 2019. As part of the overhaul, most Mining and Smithing-related content was altered, with changes to skill mechanics, the addition of new tiers of ore and Smithing products, and alterations to existing Mining and Smithing related content, such as monster drop tables.
Im an osrs player who went back on my old rs2 account a year ago to try rs3 since I was already maxed combats, and i have been hooked, end game bossing is so fun and technical, glad to see another osrs player giving the game a shot

I discovered RS3 recently and have been loving it's chill vibe. It's a very well made game. Love your videos, looking forward to watching this series. I'm not playing Ironman as I get used to the game but might try it as I love the idea of crafting my way to success, not buying it :)
As both a rs3 and osrs (mainly rs3) player, I really appreciate it any time I see an osrs player playing and enjoying rs3. It bothers me when people hate on rs3 claiming "I played it 5 years ago and it sucked". Love this. Watching this entire series now every release.
as an old rs3 player (quit before Mining and Smithing update) that frequently plays osrs, i absolutely loved seeing the new player reaction when having an open mind and not just viewing it as a bad version of osrs. They are two completely different games now and more people need to go in with that mindset than expecting their childhood game with updated graphics. Sure we would all love a return to form, but as far as a different game goes, id say they do alright :)
It's unbelievably refreshing to see an OSRS player coming into the game with a POSITIVE mindset. A lot of OSRS content creators who make this series just come in shitting over even the smallest details. They usually wind up enjoying the game, but still.
Enjoy the experience - watching you figuring things out for the first time makes me so jealous because I know the journey that's ahead. RS3 is criminally underrated by its past, best MMO of all time imo
so excited to experience this journey man, working on episode 3 right now and finding out how much i dont know about.... everything.... is quite humbling but also super fun lol.
I really love watching new or osrs players join the game but it also really shows how much work there still is to be done to make the early game better so more new players stay retained playing the game for longer
I think you're onto something. So many folks just rip on RS3 and never give it the credit it deserves due to residual saltiness of EOC. I look forward to keeping up with this series!
Just recovered my original RS account last week after 9 years away from the main game. It is 16.5 years old, and since losing access I moved on to OSRS. After getting it back, I am LOVING it. Archeology and divination are cool new schools, haven't unlocked invention yet. Gonna binge this series while catching up.
That is absolutely amazing to hear dude, if you ever need a group to play with our clan and discord has lots of returning / new players :) good luck to you on your journey !
Dude! Loved it! RS3 veteran here. It's really cool too watch you experience this, hopefully we can see a lot more episodes, here's a sub and have a good day. :)
I play both and can definitely vouch for plus sides to both. OSRS sticks to its familiar roots and keeps a consistent artstyle while still cranking out very high quality new content, being a huge fan of their new quests in particular that motivated me to finally give it a try and get a questpoint cape, and RuneLite helps immensely to customize it. RS3 with its focus on innovation has a much more customizable interface and they've come a long way in improving the combat since EOC's release, with GWD3 in particular having my favorite bosses, as well as several creative new skills like Invention and Archeology that I loved training so much I got them all the way to 120.
I LOVE the positivity. I really appreciate you going into the game and not already being sure you'll dislike it because "It's RS3" and instead actually giving it a chance.

Getting to see someone experience all the new things while having a good understanding of the base elements of the game reminds me of trying all the new updates when they came out. I really hope you continue this and get hours of entertainment from it!
"wow. im duel wielding a dagger and mace.... ok this game is awesome" best part lmao
i really enjoy this because you are so open to the changes. taking it as a separate game that it is.
very fun to watch.
you also made me redownload after 5 years of not playing. not sure if i should thank or scorn you. but either way I'll give you a sub.
I really hope you continue this series i love your outlook towards this game. I also love that you're reading the tooltips and learning the new systems in rs3 instead of immediately closing it and running around lost like literally every other OSRS player who tried to make a rs3 video
The Erin Hanson approach
played a lot of osrs myself, also decided to try out rs3 recently just for shits and giggles. Actually enjoyed it a lot although the sheer amount of new mechanics and content was a bit overwhelming and I wasn't in the mood to have to delve through the wiki for rs3 like i did on osrs back when i started, so i never got too far.
Big Rs3 player here and I love seeing you give a shot! Love the series, I’ll be counting down till the next episodes!
its good to see someone really experiencing the differences between osrs and rs3 and enjoying it, not instantly calling it 'ezscape' due to QoL changes
not having skilling interrupted by level-up screens really devalues my level-up-screen-locked-ultimate ironman, tbh, such a bad game
(this is a joke)
Raids in OSRS are a completely different animal, to the point of alienating
everyone except the "hardcore gamers"
I'm an RS3 player but usually like more osrs content, this was such a fun and refreshing video to watch. I'm subbed, excited to see more!
Wow these 20 minutes went by quick, great video! Glad you are enjoying my favorite game. Looking forward to more Waydot progression content :)
This is awesome to see! I'm actually on the other side of the coin right now. I've only played RS3 and just started into OSRS. I hope you enjoy your journey, both games are great!
Bro. I enjoyed you genuinely trying out the game. Hope you had fun! Your open mind to try out rs3 from osr was refreshing. Also a hardcore Ironman player and a 15 year vet. It's such a fun game to play while taking my lunch breaks
Subscribed for this series, looking forward to more videos :D, love the fresh look at the game and hope you won't get spoiled too much!
This is awesome man, I can't wait to watch the rest of the series!
Congrats on the successful video, can't wait to see more, take your time with the series and enjoy the game.
I am now very excited for this. Great first episode. You got yourself a new sub.
Just discovered your channel; I'm loving it so far. Keep on 'Scaping!
I have just seen all your comments, thanks for the interest in the series and the many suggestions! Although I would like to let you know episode 16 is getting released tomorrow so many of your suggestions have already been done / taken / talked about! But I appreciate the engagement nonetheless thanks so much man :)
@@Waydots Haha, thank you, man. I'm sorry if I sound rude sometimes; I'm very talkative and got enthused. The game is yours, so just have fun. I've watched it all and so far I enjoyed evry single bit.
Ive played the main game since 2007 and still watch osrs content on youtube and twitch. Great video series seeing your perspective on a game i love
just subscribed as I'm interested to see how this series goes, I've always been an rs3 player and been thinking about coming back to the game recently - video was great btw!
Liked and subscribed :D hopefully you continue the series! As someone who plays both it's nice to see.
OSRS player here, creating a RS3 Ironman now. I’m with you man! Keep it up and subbed
Hey, thanks for these videos. I'm very curious about RS3 since I played RS2 and OSRS for years... I just don't have the time to play either nowadays, so I appreciate these.
I just jumped back onto my iron man from 3-4 years ago and resubbed, had the same itch lol im only combat 80 and 1400 total, just questing and grinding. Subbed and gonna watch your series while I play :d
Thanks so much man, your a legend ! im really enjoying the game so far :)
As a long time rs3 player I love the approach you are taking toward learning the game! Looking forward to future videos 😄
This makes me want to try rs3 again. Good luck with the journey. Keen to watch the progress!
Congrats on getting recommended to me. I didnt even search for this, you're hitting the algorithm.
Always love more rs3 content you earned yourself a new sub :) Gl with the videos and hope you enjoy the journey
I can tell this series will be great! im an rs3 player who watches a lot of old school content (even started an osrs account and now i can enjoy both) im excited to see some good rs3 content for someone going in blind but with a lot of knowledge from the original game.
I'm loving the enthusiasm for all the little changes, this is great :)
Glad to have you here !
dude this is fucking outstanding. We NEEDED this. Im doing the same stuff you were doing first 10 mins of video. Love the unbiased approach and we need more of it! keep it coming
dude thank you so much.
Great video and you're learning things the way I did when I went back to it.
I wish more people were open minded and gave it a shot.
It’s refreshing seeing someone actually enjoy RS3 on UA-cam. It’s a really a fun game and in my opinion the better experience for PVM.
Loved watching this and your reactions to rs3, can’t wait to see you explore the rest of the world!
this video is really good for somone with 4k subs, you definitely deserve more. Well done.
thanks so much man i appreciate it !
Great video, Can't wait to see how you progress!
Im an osrs player who went back on my old rs2 account a year ago to try rs3 since I was already maxed combats, and i have been hooked, end game bossing is so fun and technical, glad to see another osrs player giving the game a shot
As someone who has played both osrs and rs3 extensively and loves both games, watching this video made me very happy, definitely subscribing!
Loved watching you do the tutorial. reminded me how I felt when I came back
Refreshing, always curious about rs3 through the eyes of someone 'new' look forward to the rest of the content :)
Really been thinking about RS3 as an OSRS player. But I have 0 experience with it and it seems overwhelming. Love the series! Good to know i'm not alone!
as someone who plays rs3 a good amount and has for about 15 years, it's fun to watch someone experience it for the first time. makes you appreciate jt
I'm a bit late to the party, but thank you for this video. Your positivity is infectious and makes me smile! Hope that you're still enjoying the game, as I would love to watch more of your content!
ive never been a fan of runescape 3, but you gained a new sub off of this, very entertaining to watch and learn the game
really enjoyed watching you play rs3 :D hope to see more of your videos progressing through the game!
Thanks very much man I appreciate it!
I discovered RS3 recently and have been loving it's chill vibe. It's a very well made game. Love your videos, looking forward to watching this series. I'm not playing Ironman as I get used to the game but might try it as I love the idea of crafting my way to success, not buying it :)
hey im glad you enjoyed this so far, as a mainly RS3 player i completely agree about the combat xp swapping
Awesome, just subbed. Cant wait to see more man!
I know you’re hyped to see this video take off, and I’m hyped with you. Good luck bro
It is the third time that i'm watching this series, just love it pls do more
As both a rs3 and osrs (mainly rs3) player, I really appreciate it any time I see an osrs player playing and enjoying rs3. It bothers me when people hate on rs3 claiming "I played it 5 years ago and it sucked". Love this. Watching this entire series now every release.
This series is going to be great, please continue it. Already subbed.
as an old rs3 player (quit before Mining and Smithing update) that frequently plays osrs, i absolutely loved seeing the new player reaction when having an open mind and not just viewing it as a bad version of osrs. They are two completely different games now and more people need to go in with that mindset than expecting their childhood game with updated graphics. Sure we would all love a return to form, but as far as a different game goes, id say they do alright :)
i tried rs3 for a few months and had a lot of fun, the mining and smithing was by far the best part.
you, my good man, have just gained yourself a sub... Love this clip, hope to see more like it! :D
Your subs are about to explode my dude.
Saw this from reddit, can't wait!
It's unbelievably refreshing to see an OSRS player coming into the game with a POSITIVE mindset. A lot of OSRS content creators who make this series just come in shitting over even the smallest details. They usually wind up enjoying the game, but still.
great start so far, hope the community treats you well.
comment for the algorithm, because your intro of episode 2 was so sweet
you have my sub! as an RS3 player its nice to see an open mind and over all greenness!
You're doing what I did a couple years ago. The game really starts to grow on you.
