I've been working at my home depot for going on 8 years now and this nice lady with cerebral palsy had been coming in since before I worked there. She actually looked quite healthy but the moment she'd get up to reach something on a higher shelf you could see from how her legs would shake that there's no way she could get around without her scooter. Well probably 3 years ago or so I was working as assistant manager and a customer came up to me telling me that this guy was following this lady in a scooter around saying she's a fake and as I'm going around looking for them I see this in a checkout lane bumping his car into something and I walk up and he's bumping his cart into the back of this ladies scooter. There's a lane completely open right next to her so I tell him he can take that empty lane and he said "nah i'm good" so I'm just straight up with him and told him I was informed that he had been following her around and if he didn't stop harassing her he would have to leave. I didn't even need to tell him to leave, he just got pissy and started to walk out and as he got to the door he just ran out screaming and I see him running up to a truck being towed...it turns out an employee collecting shopping carts saw a guy park in a handicap spot without putting up his handicap sticker and radioed into the manager who then called a parking lot security guard who ticketed him $400 for parking in a handicap spot and then called a tow truck after it not moving for 15 minutes.
Always liked shopping at Home Depot, my father is disabled and they have always been good at making sure he's taken care of when we are in the store. Only drawback is it's 30 miles away.
Increase the fine from $150 to $450 or more, and if guilty, zero chance for not paying. I love this guy and would love to do his job. I have ZERO sympathy for those who violate handicapped parking places, none.
@@JV-pu8kx you do have a point, but I will have you know that as a wheelchair user that's how I specify those designated parking spaces. Also another issue is that most places do not have enough of these spaces, they are either taking up with people that do have proper permits, but the main problem is people parking in the spaces without a permit.
I am also a wheelchair user myself, and I am ALWAYS tired of people parking in the “reserved” spots just because they are either in a hurry or my favorite line, “It’s too far for me to walk to the store!”.
@@NWIndianaElevators my man I know how you feel! But seriously, people need to cut the bullshit and start making stupid excuses for taking the spaces when we clearly need them. @bellinghamfpv There are other problems beyond walking ability that can necessitate a disabled parking permit. Service animals can come with some of these.
@@dvferyance And if they still ignore the signs, then you keep on bumping up the fine until they DO pay attention to the signs. Or maybe hit them with an even more severe penalty, like taking their car. Perhaps on the first offense, merely tow the car and make them pay the recovery fee to the towing company. Maybe on subsequent offenses, impound the car for longer periods of time. The point is that so long as people continue to ignore handicapped parking signs and park in those spaces, they should be penalized SEVERELY.
Let's make it $2,500 for the first offense, licence suspended for 3 months, and vehicle towed with impound for 30 days. 2nd offense $10k, licence suspended for a year, and vehicle impounded for 90 days. 3rd time is the charm for $25k, six months in jail, felony charge, licence revoked, and car forfeit. US needs to do like Sweden, the fines are based on income,so if a violator is rich, you know that ticket is gonna be in the thousands, that's how you hurt them.
I've long thought that the government should use this method for all fines. What's a $100 or $1000 dollar fine to a multimillionaire? I've seen some people call this idea "socialist", etc. I'm a pretty conservative guy, and I don't see this as socialist at all. There's nothing in the Capitalist/Democracy/Republic government "handbook" that says that fines must be fixed amounts. The only reason I could see that would make this idea of fines as a percentage of income tricky is verifying the offender's actual income for setting the fine.
@@crucisnh Well,am a Conservative too and personally don't see it as Socialist or Communist ruling,is like this, everyone wants to be rewarded for their work, whether is poor, middle class or beyond that, that person is responsible enough to earn a good income, should be responsible enough to behave accordingly in society,if not,he/she,will be penalised accordingly to their income, fair is fair....as for verification..10 years of tax filings should be enough to prove their worth.
Last I heard, it was about $880 for wrongly parking in a handicapped parking spot. And another $880 for misuse of a handicapped parking placard. So, if you used someone else's placard to park in a handicapped spot, you'd be looking at nearly $1800 in fines. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they towed the cars on the first offense, just to make it really hurt and get the message through that wrongly parking in a handicapped spot and paying a fine if caught, isn't just the cost of doing business. Tow the car on the first offense. Possibly even revoke their driver's license.

Years ago I had an old beater El Camino. When I'd spot somebody parked illegally in a handicapped space on private property I'd "accidentally" run into their car just a tiny bit, then call the cops. It's a $500 fine in my state, and since it's on private property, I can't be given a ticket for poor driving.
here's an important question....i have had to deal with this most of my life....do you ticket cops abusing handicap spaces? they are some of the worst offenders. and some of their excuses are ridiculous...i have to have my car close in case i get a call, i'm a cop i'm allowed are two of the worst.
$150? That's cheap. I'm a police officer in California. Our agency is one the lowest fines around; $300. Other agencies around us charge $900. One of my favorite cites though, is for misusing a placard. $1200 fine, misdemeanor record, placard confiscated, and in a couple cases, car impounded. After seeing a 98 yo woman walking to a parking space half a mile away because the handicap spots were taken, I went after the misuse violators hard. (She only got about 50 feet before I stopped and gave her a ride to her car).
I'm glad to see that someone is stepping up and get people like that. I know I am disabled and in a wheelchair and I have caught people in the handicap parking and I did not have a place to park except for a parking spot almost at the end of the parking lot.
I've never actually seen one of the newer parking enforcement vehicles, they look lovely. I really don't understand the mindset of people who think they are entitled to the handicap parking space just because it isn't being used, nothing but self-absorbent people.
Yeah that Bolt that guy has is awesome! All parking enforcement should drive Bolts or Smart EQ's or Leafs, it's a no brainer for costs, pollution, and they don't drive that far every day.
@James Mara Then that's a regional thing because in my area it's always the 20s to 50s white guys, and they just pretend like they can't hear you or flip you off.
Some of us do not always insist on the closest space I have a power chair to do the distance only major problem is the ones who park in tight so I not able to get my chair in or out because I not able to get room to open my door the bigger spaces are not for bad parkers
I had a side entrance van before too, and it was awful trying to find parking. Worse, one night, I went to the grocery store, and came out to find I couldn't get back in to my van. There were a lot of spaces too.
As a disabled person who uses an electric wheelchair, when I see people do this, I just want to take the air out of their tires, makes me so mad that people can be so ignorant !
Either they feel they are entitled or have excess money. Set up a CCT camera at that one spot downtown and see how many people park there. Then issue a ticket with their photo on it.Print their photo if they park there more than 3 times or show it in the news, city crime stoppers web page.
I always thought the police dept should hire a parking enforcement officer who specialized in Disabled Parking enforcement. He could be in an electric vehicle, or even a bicycle, and check all the DP spots in his area. With the fine of each ticket at $400 or more. he would soon pay for the cost of his position in no time. The city could afford to hire several more of them, and I bet there would be a limitless amount of violators to cite. Everyone would be happy, except the fool who parked in those spaces illegally.
Scoop43 - sounds good Except, not everyone pays up. In most cities it takes 3 violations before they do anything about it. But, I’m with you cause it makes the most sense.
What burns me is people parking in a handicapped spot then nearly running into the store. I'm in a wheelchair and can't find a spot where I can get my wheelchair out!
The increased rate for commercial vehicles is a damned good idea. I've seen videos of how commercial vehicles will park any ole place in San Fran and get incredible numbers of tickets, because the companies just see it as the cost of doing business and drivers know that their companies will pay the fines for them. In truth though, maybe if companies really are parking like this and racking up fines like crazy (not just handicapped spot fines), there might be a larger issue around the lack of parking for commercial vehicles for businesses/drivers who really are just trying to do their work and earn a living. But honestly, I don't know what the solution would be.
I liked the cop in another video when asked if he was trying to meet his "quota." He told the lady, "We don't have quotas ma'am. We can write all the tickets we want!" LOL!!
I’ve been a paraplegic since infancy and I experience every day. Abusers universal excuse is ill only be a minute. No matter how nice you ask them to please not park in them most go nuts and threaten you , cuss you and make every excuse as to why they are a exception. I’ve given up saying anything and just go somewhere else or park where I can.
I have a placard for myself and my dad has a permanent tag on his car for himself. I get so angry when my dad parks on the lines because there are no spots open even though I have told him multiple times that those lines are for side deploying ramps. If there is a spot close to the front I’ll use it instead of the handicap spot that is even closer just in case someone might need it more than me. Being younger, I have older people doubt my placard is valid and I tell them it has my name on it and not all disabilities are visible.
Casey Thompson Sorry that hear that your Dad is selfish and inconsiderate. Maybe if he were to receive an expensive citation it would get his attention and cause him to stop parking where he’s not supposed to.
As a disabled person it's nice to have these spots but I hardly use them but those that are not disabled and take these spots should go in front of a federal judge cause it's a federal law that makes these spots open and get heaver fines due to them being stupid
I deal with this at least 3 times a week here in Baltimore County Maryland. Enforcement is none existent from my experience. The fine needs to be raised to $1000.00 and enforced. BALTIMORE COUNTY ARE YOU LISTENING????????????????????????

Don't just wait. Call the police and complain. Go to the city council meeting and use your 5 minutes to complain about it. Get other disabled people to go with you. Protest in front of the police dept. Ask to speak with a Captain or the Chief about it. This is how to get things done. If you see a violator in the handicapped spot, call the police about it.

Since the there is an increase in accessible parking spot violators increase the fine. For a first time offense the fine would be $1,000 minimum and a wheel clamp placed on the vehicle so they have to pay the fine.
I am disabled and run across this almost daily. One, there needs to be more disabled parking. Two, I wish in cities like WVC, they had dedicated parking enforcers like they have down town. One girl took a space because her stiletto heels were too high. She could barely walk. Rediculous.
Parking enforcement does NOT need a quota. The stupids that park in handicap spots could nearly pay off the national debt. Oh, don't forget jerks that park in fire lanes.
As a handicapped person myself, but able to use a walker, I do not use spaces marked VAN ACCESSIBLE. Wheelchair ramps need ten feet of space beyond the van’s door. People not having handicapped permits should pay an additional fine for parking in those designated spaces. Van accessible spaces are wider than the regular handicapped spaces.
I don't have a handicap placard and I'm in good health. When I park I usually park far away just in case seniors or people with small children need close spots. Just how I was raised.
Each time I buy a new car, I park as far away as possible in the nether regions of the parking lot. Unfortunately there are people who park next to me, even though there are plenty of parking spaces available closer to the store.
The next step is to ticket "Handicapped Parking placard users" that aren't the actual placard owner. In other words, if the placard belongs to your mom and she's NOT in the car with you, you DON'T get to park in the handicapped spot. There are too many able-bodied people using placards when they're not assisting a placard owner.
A ‘fine’ of whatever size doesn’t work. The abuser is taking advantage of a Handicapped Person, so ........ - Automatic impound of vehicle for a week. - Abuser has to spend that week in a handicapped People’s Home/Hostel, so that they can learn, who they are taking from. - On completion of that week (forgot to say - unpaid), they can Claim their vehicle on payment of $1,000 fine in full. Cash or Bearer Bonds only. - Name and Photo published in Local Paper. That ought to have an affect.
62 dislikes? You better stay out of my spot. I will park behind you and you will leave when I'M ready. That's street justice. Cops don't always make the less mobile people a priority. Even I've made cops move.
Way to go! The people are too lazy to walk! The handicap people need these spaces! The lazy able-bodied people even push their shopping carts in the handicap spots. I caught one woman pushing her cart right next to my Mother's car and I called her low down and lazy and she replied mind my own business. I said oh really and a police officer who saw the whole thing walked over and gave her a ticket. The woman was 22. She managed new lows in laziness!
I have a side entry van and use a powered wheelchair - after way too many instances of people parking in the hashed out area intended for deployment of the ramp, if I had to damage their vehicle in order to get in, I’d do that. I’m not going wait around, and hope they’re coming back soon. I’ve scratched, creased, and dented doors, I’ve deployed the ramp into the sides of their vehicles, and in instances where there’s no possible way for me to get in whatsoever, I just wait to have a friendly discussion with them. I’ll never understand what goes through the mind of a person who thinks it makes sense to park in a disabled spot when they don’t need it.
One thing I would like to tell people about Disabled Parking enforcement is that the space must be properly marked before it can be enforced. That means it must have the Disabled logo on the asphalt of the parking space, and it must have an upright sign with the Disabled logo on it clearly visible to the driver of the parked vehicle. If the lines or logo of the space are worn, it not not enforceable.
Yes, dont park in the handicapped space if you dont have a tag. But on a side note, I noticed there's a lot more people with these tags that dont need any assistance getting around. They dont have chairs, walkers, crutches, canes nothing. I'll say about 90% of the ones I see using tags dont seem to need it. Not sure whats the criteria to get these tags, but it doesnt seem like much.
My Radiology Oncologist offered me a handicapped parking permit. I declined - for now. For as long as possible I prefer to leave those rare spaces for people that need it more than me. For now the side effects of my inop brain tumor are not obvious to others. A guy at a grocery store was harassing a lady parked in a Handicapped space, he couldn't 'see' any issues. The lady was near my age (early 70s), and was terrified. Being fairly fearless I intervened and said 'it's a good thing her Dr can diagnose emphysema without having to see it'. (I don't know if she had emphysema but it was the first diagnosis that occurred to me.) I helped the lady into her wheelchair and he continued to rant. I called 911 and reported Elder Abuse on a handicapped lady as we entered the store. He followed us in the store. Store Security intervened just as a Police car arrived. He actually had a knife in his pocket! He pulled the knife on Security so he was arrested. It's a shame people will not mind their own business.

$150.00 is a joke of a fine. $450.00 minimum where I am plus a $350.00 tow.
Now THAT'S what I call JUSTICE!!!😄😀😉
How sweet it is!🤣
Karma
Really wish more stores would use their staff that collect the shopping carts to help out in that way.
We need more guys like him enforcing the rules of parking for wheelchair spaces
They are not "wheelchair" spaces. They are "disabled parking" spaces. Not everyone who are disabled use wheelchairs.
Another prime example is when a wheelchair accessible vehicle needs them to let you unload your chair from your vehicle whether it's an accessible van or a truck with a wheelchair lifts in the back of the bed just like my personal vehicle.
@bellinghamfpv There are other problems beyond walking ability that can necessitate a disabled parking permit. Service animals can come with some of these.
$150 ??? Seriously ? what a joke. Should start at $350 minimum, and go up.
In Sweden are the fine 300-450 $
Its different everywhere in america, some places have a basic fine of $300+
Some places it ranges from $250 to $5,,000
Where I’m at in Atlanta it’s 500$, should be more honestly
$150 ticket. It should be $1000
And if it was and they were still doing it you would say it should be $5000.
It's $533 here. In the state south of me it's a bit more plus 1 demerit point.
See how many people would do it more than once.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
As a disabled person, it really sets me off that that do not need the spot take them. I am a below the knee amputee, and had many people say I can walk and I do not need it. Where I live between the fine and tow it is just over a grand, some other parts of the state it is more.
Ask those people if they have a certificate or degree that says they are a medical professional.
Ive been driving for 38 years . Ive never parked in a handicap parking spot . If i have somebody this handicap i take them to the front door . Drop them off . And go park .
Great. But how does that apply to handicapped drivers on their own?
@@washingtonwebfoot9908 If they are handicapped they probably have their own placard and can legally use the spots.
@@RajaniIsa Gee, no kidding.
@WeeStrom CO Guy They didn't say ANYTHING about parking in a Fire Zone. Imbecile.
@WeeStrom CO Guy No, I was simply pointing out that you tossed out a straw man. There are NOT firezones around ALL commercial buildings. I've been a fireman for 17 years. I could point our at leas 3 dozen such cases within 2 miles of my house. Pull your head out of your ass and don't pretend that you can account for all commercial retail locations. You asshattery is duly noted.
In New York, the fine for illegally parking in a disabled spot is $850.
What do you do if they don't have an income?
@@deanvanluven6813 I know plenty of people in America who don't have an income who drive regularly.
The law is supposed to be blind to race, gender, etc. That should extend to income as well.
In San Francisco first offense is $850.00
David Lagarde Nice!
$850 is nothing to most San Francisco residents these days
Last I heard, it was about $880 for wrongly parking in a handicapped parking spot. And another $880 for misuse of a handicapped parking placard. So, if you used someone else's placard to park in a handicapped spot, you'd be looking at nearly $1800 in fines. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they towed the cars on the first offense, just to make it really hurt and get the message through that wrongly parking in a handicapped spot and paying a fine if caught, isn't just the cost of doing business. Tow the car on the first offense. Possibly even revoke their driver's license.
@@eldangeroso68 lol to the techies no but to normal assholes its a big deal. See like hollywood celebrities like the khardasians who always park in handicap spots theyre so rich the ticket is just a convenience valet ticket. Should be a boot and tow immediately not just a ticket.
David Lagarde
In Ontario, Canada the fines start at $300 and can rise to $5000 plus demerit points on the offender’s drivers license which results in higher insurance rates!
That guy deserves a raise
Parking enforcement doesn’t need a quota, there is so much illegal parking that they get good numbers.
Right to Record yea you made that up loser bet u don’t have a car
$150...no wonder you have a problem.
Tow the cars and send them to auction.
0:31 He's got two sets of top teeth??? WHAT?!?!
here's an important question....i have had to deal with this most of my life....do you ticket cops abusing handicap spaces? they are some of the worst offenders. and some of their excuses are ridiculous...i have to have my car close in case i get a call, i'm a cop i'm allowed are two of the worst.
Start charging what they do in Georgia. Fines are over $500, yes, over FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. $125 is an easy fine.
Should be a $1000 minimum fine and loss of license for a year.
I know i'm a below the knee amputee and i see it all the time
tow it and crush it , every time.......and it will stop.
If they would tow them fine 500 bucks the problem would be solved
His jacket logo looks like he's flicking the Birdy lol
Like that nice young man and his mom don't have a hard enough life...some lazy bum has to make it harder for them? I could cry. God bless them.
Should be, '3 strikes and you're out'! Three parking violations and your license is suspended!!
Not suspended, REVOKED!
Should be at least $750 to take a bite out of crime!!!
I had a side entrance van before too, and it was awful trying to find parking. Worse, one night, I went to the grocery store, and came out to find I couldn't get back in to my van. There were a lot of spaces too.
Happens in the uk, I noted 2 today, one was a company car
It will be posted and the drivers shamed
As a disabled person who uses an electric wheelchair, when I see people do this, I just want to take the air out of their tires, makes me so mad that people can be so ignorant !
Respect and education, they dont have that
Wow that's getting off seemingly cheap, I know for a fact the same ticket here in Canada is $400.00 in certain cities.
Just tow it,they'll think twice
Excellent work keep it up
What burns me is people parking in a handicapped spot then nearly running into the store. I'm in a wheelchair and can't find a spot where I can get my wheelchair out!
3:29 WOW That's a fake permit.
He seems proud of giving tickets
He is doing a good job at what he does, he should be proud. When you get a job you can be proud too!
Mark W what makes you think i don’t have a job
Make the ticket huge $1000+ and even higher for commercial vehicles, $2500+. That's the only way clueless/entitled people will stop.
Park behind them temporarily and call the police
Make it the same fine as SC- $1000. No questions asked
Good service guy.
As a disabled person it's nice to have these spots but I hardly use them but those that are not disabled and take these spots should go in front of a federal judge cause it's a federal law that makes these spots open and get heaver fines due to them being stupid
your lack of punctuation is giving me dyslexia
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 Maybe you had dyslexia to begin with? But thanks, everyone here just love the punctuation police.
I deal with this at least 3 times a week here in Baltimore County Maryland. Enforcement is none existent from my experience. The fine needs to be raised to $1000.00 and enforced. BALTIMORE COUNTY ARE YOU LISTENING????????????????????????
I just place a caltrop under both rear tires so they go flat when they back out if the space. Nobody carries 2 spare tires and insurance only covers them if all 4 tires are flattened.
His jacket logo looks like a middle finger
I live in picture Rock Tucson the Dollar General in picture Rock there's always people parked in handicap spaces with no authorization which means a handicapped person like myself has to part further back I'm waiting for them to start ticketing them
Don't just wait.
He's right and doing a good thing. I had an elderly relative who could barely walk. When able-bodied people park in handicap spots, I think of him.
Selfish, arrogant people, full of their own self importance and stuck up their own backsides. Take their license off them and ban them for life.
in SF , 3 blocks full of blue tags , every single cars
I used to do Volunteer work for my City P.D. I did parking enforcement ... Handicap Parking violation was 395.00 a pop, we always took pictures so there would be no doubt if they wanted to fight it
Back in 1998 I got a ticket for parking in a handicap space...it was winter time and the sign was on the ground covered with snow....i talked with the security guard he said if I had the ticket with me I would not have to pay...i did not have it with it was around $ 60.00...so please be understanding people need those spaces
You Really have to be some kind of Special Wanker to park in a Disabled spot if your not Disabled!
Only $150 fine?
We need plenty of them here in the bay area...More power to you .
Dear God, where is the compassion? Those poor people have so many problems to face every hour of the day...Please be kind!
what happen to the $2500 fines?
That guy is 22? Really? He looks 40
CP has that effect. I"m 57 but i look 37 what's your point.
You just wanna do him . Only reason that you'd be so observant .
Those tickets need to be OVER $500.00 and double each time thereafter.
Is it just me or does the seal on the parking enforcement Officers coat from a distance look like it’s flipping the bird?
Since the there is an increase in accessible parking spot violators increase the fine. For a first time offense the fine would be $1,000 minimum and a wheel clamp placed on the vehicle so they have to pay the fine.
I am disabled and run across this almost daily. One, there needs to be more disabled parking. Two, I wish in cities like WVC, they had dedicated parking enforcers like they have down town. One girl took a space because her stiletto heels were too high. She could barely walk. Rediculous.
Parking enforcement does NOT need a quota. The stupids that park in handicap spots could
nearly pay off the national debt.
Did anyone else notice that the “city ambassador “ was not wearing his seatbelt?
huh. Around here the handicap parking tick $500
I so hate when people misuse the handicap zone.
He's 22???
My husband had a handicaped plaque back when we had a vehicle. But spaces werent hard to find and ppl rarely park there that dont need them
Disgusting. Unauthorized parking in a handicapped spot should be an automatic mandatory tow. No exceptions, no excuses.
First offense: $2,000.00 and six months in a prisoner work gang cleaning up highways, byways, and parking lots.
Thank you for saving the handicapped parking spaces. It hard to find a space for me Richard. When visit your state.
I had a side entry van and you are right that it is more of a problem.
Minimum fee should be $1500
A ‘fine’ of whatever size doesn’t work.
Now THAT'S what I call a PERFECT SOLUTION!!! I LOVE IT!!!😎
62 dislikes?
It should be a $500 ticket.
The moustache was the real crime
One thing I would like to tell people about Disabled Parking enforcement is that the space must be properly marked before it can be enforced. That means it must have the Disabled logo on the asphalt of the parking space, and it must have an upright sign with the Disabled logo on it clearly visible to the driver of the parked vehicle. If the lines or logo of the space are worn, it not not enforceable.
Well, if the Police can't enforce it I can, by awarding that person (as I have in the past) four deflated tires. Happy motoring!
Try doing this in Minneapolis.
