I assisted a pro photographer on a local portrait project. I had no experience with lighting. I could never shoot a portrait or still life without it now. I love how you demonstrate each phase of light and explain the effect. Well done, thank you!
You are by far my favourite youtube cinematographer. You have taught me so much about lighting and it's importance. But I have a major question. I know that lighting your scene is a form of art and therefore subjective, but I would really appreciate a video on common practices on how to setup your lights based on your scene in a more objective way. Like to show your train of thought a bit, e.g. why you choose to diffuse in a circumstance and maybe even show what would be the result if you didn't diffuse etc etc. Think of it like extending the idea of the 3 point lighting system, to show some more practices. Thank you so much
Nice final effect. I especially like the attention do background. Kinda nice advert for the 500C :D. What was the WB in the camera (or setting in post - cause it was shot RAW)? I’m personally really disappointed with Nanlite (quality and customer support) and will choose Aputure 1000C instead :D.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Very good video, it would be very interesting if they dedicated a video about blockers, we know that without it the light spreads and never reaches the path that the DP wants, the blockers work together with the light, if possible make a video with this other part please. It would be of great help too.
It would be great to see the changes you do on the lighting in real time through your camera or something else idk. Just so we can understand your choice better and actually feel the result. Because when I see the "scanning" of "rec 709 > contrast etc" i feel a bit lost. Otherwise I love watching your videos, i've learned a lot and I'm not even a cinematographer. I'm a 3D artist and your tips are actually very useful !
I really really like the look that you achieve! Really top movie-like quality. I watched your color grading video. But it wold be nice to see more secrets from you :-) Like do you use some halation / grain/ glow etc inside DaVinci. Anyway, cool channel man! I'm subscribed
I challenge you to do it with just a smartphone camera. Think you’re up for it? Is it really about the camera, or is it all in the lighting? I’d love to see the result. So, what about filming the same thing with a smartphone-do you accept the challenge?
If you have thousands $$$ in grip and lighting gear I don’t see why’d you’d waste time & labor shooting with a phone. Might as well make the scene count. But I hear what you’re saying challenges can be fun , but so many people have done these challenges already there’s tons of results out there.
One of the best tutorials i’ve ever seen🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I love how brilliant your lighting is and it doesn't matter if you know the name of a bounce card. Keep crushing it bro
Thank you very much!😊

The question remains: could you do the same take on a cell phone?
You missed the opportunity to use these lights and record at the same time with a cell phone
What an oximoron. Painting is only a matter of light, as cinematography.
이렇게 훌륭한 영상에 싫어요가 많은 이유가 뭐지....
아....일본어를 쓰는 사람이 오펜하이머를 따라 찍어서? 앗 아아.....
항상 감사해요-!
this bro needs knowledge, double diffusion looks silly
Sarcasm ?
