Comment SPIDEY 3 if I should watch the next one!
SPIDER-MAN: ua-cam.com/video/A6JYbIlzvnc/v-deo.html
SPIDEY 3 (just to complete the Maguire trilogy). 😊
Spidey 3
Think about AVI ARAD when you watch it
SPIDEY 3
YAY for SPIDEY 3...and a Reminder to do FAST 4 as well!! ("You Know Me" LOL)
Doc Ock's face-turn (*when a villain turns good) is one of the best in Marvel. Redeeming himself and saving the city from his misguided creation is such a good ending for a tragic character and Alfred Molina sells it so well.
Agreed, I loved his ending ☺️👍🕸
you speak carny, brother ? toooooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D
He is the best thing in this movie.
One of, if not the greatest superhero movie ever!!! I watched this movie 5 times in the theatres.
Sam seemed to reach his peak here. A peak many established directors never reach.
Must've been so much fun to see in theaters!! ☺️👍🕸
@@jenmurrayxo it was and watch every Spider-Man film.
I still say Spider-man 2 is the Greatest Spider-man movie ever
I really love the "ordinary citizens coming to Spidey's aid" moment in Spiderman 1, even more so in this one! Made him more relatable, more your-friendly-neighbourhood-superhero than any of the others. A smart superhero who still struggles with the same things many of us do -- paying his rent, holding a job, doing well at school, getting the girl -- what's not to love?
First the Green Goblin interrupts her prayers, and now this? It's a good thing Aunt May doesn't have a heart condition!
The train scene always gets me. This film was not that long after 9-11. Peter's life is such a mess. Then that scene happens. Peter is the hero of New York and that scene let's the citizens of New York be Peter's hero. New York loves Spider-Man if no one else does. When they agree to keep his identity secret... amazing.
"We won't tell nobody" gets me every time.
@@nonconsensualopinion "You want him, you have to go through me!" Whenever the people of NYC stand up for Spidey it always gets me choked up.
"He's just a kid," always gets me. Just a kid is doing as much as he does.
Fun Facts: When Peter fell and was complaining about his back, this is an inside joke. Toby Maquire injured his back in another film before Spidey 2 and the producers thought they would have to recast him. They were looking at Jake Gylenhall for Peter when Toby returned. Don't know if you noticed, but when Otto has controls of the arms, their camera lights are white. When the arms have control, they are red. And most important fun fact: WE ALL LOVE JEN!!!!!!
It's always fun seeing a non comic book fan discover a classic villain like Doctor Octopus.
Freaking loved Doc Ock! 😈😈👍🔥
@@jenmurrayxo A man named Otto Octavus ends up with eight limbs, what are the odds? lol
"They're like lizards all around him..."
Unfortunately, Raimi's setups here (I won't spoil what they are 😉) to use The Lizard as a villain for 3 was kiboshed by the studio 😭 Raimi could have made him a proper horror villain...
#SpideyProbs
Peter's struggle to maintain a balance between life and Spiderman is one of the best parts of the comics and Raimi really captures it in his trilogy.
Jen: "He did not die a monster, he used his monster arms to do the right thing"
J. Jonah Jameson making the headline: "The monster is dead".
'Spider-Man No More' is the title of a famous comic where Peter quits being Spider-man because he thinks "Spider-Man" is causing him to ignore his friends and family who need him. The scene of him throwing his suit in the trash and walking away is a direct homage to the cover of that issue. Unlike this movie Peter realises that a) his family and friends don't NEED him to be Peter all the time and b) he isn't happy just being Peter Parker and ignoring his responsibility.
Aunt May and her umbrella versus Doc Oc was awesome, but the fight on the train is probably my favourite comic movie scene.
The finale, with the passengers carrying him back, always gets me misty eyed. "He's just a kid..."
The train scene is one of the best Spider-Man scenes ever and is why Tobey is the most powerful version of Spider-Man bye the way like the comic book pop ups
Thanks! ☺️👍💥
The wait for this movie in the summer of 2004 was absolutely nerve wrecking! I remember wanting nothing more than to see this and would frequently watch the trailer on Quicktime as UA-cam wouldn't exist for another year. Finally I saw it and let me say watching this masterpiece on screen was one of the best movie theater experiences I ever had. Even after all the MCU films, this still is one of if not the best film based on a Marvel comic book.
One thing to remember about superheroes is that it's their powers that make them super but it's their choices that make them heroes. At the start of this film, Peter is tanking his normal life in order to be Spider-Man. He's going out every night, never refusing a call & it's not a big jump to assume that he is driven by guilt over the death of his uncle. When he decides to stop being Spider-Man, it's actually a really huge moment. Peter is finally putting aside the guilt & so when he later decides to suit up again he's finally doing it not because he feels guilty about Ben but because he finally understands the lessons Ben was trying to teach him.
Alfred Molina(Doc Ock) was in "Raiders of the Lost Ark," also, along with many other roles.
A little fun fact the kids that hand him his mask back on the train are Tobey’s real younger brothers
For Real?? Who did I never know that..?
@@tomhoffman4330 yeah I can’t remember if it was during an interview or if he talks about it during the scene in the commentary version of the dvd
@@tomhoffman4330 I just looked it up and yeah it is during the commentary version
@@norsepaganmetalhead Either way, Thanks for the Tip!!
@@tomhoffman4330 no problem
It's seriously so awesome how much Jen loves good movies. Keep it up Jen and crew, another great reaction!
Thank you!! ☺️👍👍
Awesome stuff, Jen! I loved how much you were INTO this one! You got your villain lair, your FINALLY kiss, your awesome villain and you gave me a new Jen-ism I've never heard before! "Note to self: carry an umbrella when you're old!"🤣🤣 A++ can't wait til next time!
Thanks T!! This one was so awesome!! Had so much fun w Spidey!! ☺️👍🕸🔥
This one really holds up and is one of my favorite superhero movies of all time.
This was a fun movie to watch in theaters! Who could forget the famous Jameson laugh😆
There are at least three direct homages to director Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" films... The ever present cameos of Bruce "Ash" Campbell (the obnoxious usher here and the loud mouth wrestling announcer in the first film), the "wacky cam" scene in the surgery room with Doc Oc and his evil bionic arms, and the old, yellow car Ash drives in the E.D. films always shows up.
I liked that they had Willem Dafoe do a cameo at the end. Thanks for another excellent review, Miss Jen.
☺️👍🕸
My favorite line "Guy named Otto Octavius winds up with eight limbs. What are the odds?"🤣
I love that, in a world where DNA exists, nobody thought to test the Spidey suit for DNA. Even if Peter isn't in the system, Spiderman is, so they can start testing people against that, to ID him.
I love the shift in perspective from "Please be a robot - It IS a robot! :D" to "But they're so creepy! O.o"
Otto is the "throw me ze whip, I throw you the idol dude from" Raiders of the Lost Ark
The usher at the theater is the same actor (Bruce Campbell) that played the MC at the wrestling match in the first film.
Fun Fact, Jen: The two kids who found Peter’s mask are actually Tobey’s step brothers.
Dialysis, barbershop, nap and came 7pm and I was still patiently waiting for this. It didn't disappoint. Still the best spider-man movie easy. I'm also learning things i never knew from the comment section.
Top 3 best superhero-movie, hands down. It's almost uncanny how seemingly easy Sam Raimi directed this: an amazing, imediently gripping story with great characters, superb visuals still, one hell of a score ... And some nice references to Westerns and Raimis own EVIL DEAD! And Doc Ock was just the way I remembered it from the comics. By the way, Mr. Ditkovitch is a reference to Steve Ditko, one of Spider-Man's inventors.
I saw this back when it came out. The theatre was packed. I seldomly experienced an audience of kids, grown-ups and elder people laughing, gasping, smiling at the same time. When I looked after my late mother we saw that movie one night on TV 'cause there was nothing else on. She gave it a try and loved it - an 80-year old woman!
What are the other 2 if i may ask?
X-Men 2 and Blade 2.
I remember seeing this film the year I turned 18 and joined the Navy. OMG, it was just perfect. I'm happy you're reacting to this and I very much enjoyed the reaction for many reasons. There's some nostalgia here for me. I'm happy there is someone who hasn't seen this film and is seeing it for the first time. 🥰🥰🥰
So glad you enjoyed Alex! Such a fun one! ☺️👍🕸
@@jenmurrayxo I hope you react to the other Spider-Man films. They just went nuts with making these movies after Tobey. 🤣🤣🤣 They're all at least DECENT films. Only a few of them are great.
@@Alex-tq1qrwhat's up namesake, how is it in navy's? Are you still there?
The usher who wouldn't let Peter enter the theater late is played by the same actor who played the wrestling announcer in the first movie!
One of the best sequels from the golden age of Marvel Films (1998-2007) and superhero sequels over all.
Also it won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
The original was such a smash.
The hype was real for a sequel.
Parker dealing with the double life, keeping a job, trying to be happy, etc.
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock was incredible and had a great journey as an mad scientist.
Shades of everything that we as the fans loved about Spidey from the comics to film.
Tobey Maguire almost didn't make it part 2.
He had back injuries from working on Seabiscuit (2003) and was a producer on that film.
Jake Gyllenhaal was going to replace Maguire.
Would've been interesting to see his onscreen chemistry with real life girlfriend (at the time), Kirsten Dunst.
There was an extended cut (aka 2.1) released before Spider-man 3 and the extra footage really kicked things up notch.
I enjoy that as much as this Peter tries to save his villains, he just can't. It's a darker interpretation of the comics and I really enjoy it.
Stan Lee was in this movie you know. He was in a trenchcoat and rescued a little girl away from falling debris in the first fight. Though used in several Marvel comic books of the day, lines like "I won't die a monster! I will die a man!" just get to one's heart. That is one pulled right out of Marvel comic books.
Danny Elfman is probably best known for the music for the Tim Burton Batman movies and the theme music for the Simpsons.
Side character info that they never developed in these movies, so not a spoiler
John Jameson in the comics (early 70s while nasa was still doing manned moon missions) was an astronaut. While on the moon, he found a mysterious rock which grafted onto his skin and turned him into The Man Wolf (basically a werewolf)
That's crazy!! 😆
@@jenmurrayxo it was crazy times 😂. I used to have a kid-ified version of that story that I read over and over when I was like 7
Traditionally, Aunt May has always been an elderly woman. In the Tom Holland movies, they made her much younger mostly to reference the series Smallville, which cast a much younger actress than traditional to play Martha Kent. It also has the added benefit of hypothetically giving more time to play the character.
This perfectly shows the pluses and minuses of being a superhero.
I love how your pets joined in for this one. :) They're so cute!
They are good boys! 🥰🐕😻😻
Spider-Man 2 is so great! I saw it twice on the day it first came out in cinemas.
The first one is a lot of fun, but Spider-Man 2 is everything I wanted from a Spider-Man movie at the time.
I love when Mary Jane says “Go get’em, Tiger “ at the end of the movie.
Yay! Jen's watching the best live action Spider-Man movie!
Man Spider-Man music just hits different. When the strings come in at 30:11 when MJ looks back at Spidey just oozes feels. I know MJ isn't the greatest love interest by today's standards, but oh man when she says "isn't it about time somebody saved your life?" What a good line.
The last movie of this trilogy has some issues, but you'll have fun with it. You should definitely watch it! And then the Amazing Spiderman movies, of course.
Also, now that you've seen a few superhero movies, I think you should react to Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog. It's really fun! (and short)
This is my favorite Spider-Man movie out of all the Spider-Man variations. Its SO good. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Part 3. And 3 gets a lot of dislike because of one sub-plot, but overall it's a solid movie at its core. You just kind of have to ignore the few moments of it that you'll see when you get to it.
Danny Elfman has done all of Tim Burton’s films, including Batman. And yes, he did do Men In Black.
If it’s Tim Burton, it’s probably Danny Elfman. He is also the singing voice of Jack in Nightmare Before Christmas.
I'd like to see that one! Is it a Christmas movie or Halloween?!
It's nice to know that an actor playing a short role early in Raiders of the Lost Ark, is now a super villian
14:26 Stan Lee cameo!
Well this Last-Minute Premiere was quite the Surprise...I'm so glad that I was already here online when it Started!!! Always Fun to Chat with Y'all, hope We can do it again sometime...and "Thanks Again" Jen!!! ❤👍
Hi Tom, great to see you here, yes, it was later on than usual. Do you think that, Eric, didn't think that there would be a premier from Jen today?
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. IDK. We talk about Jen's schedule every week...I try to keep him up-to-date so E.D. knows what to expect.
@@tomhoffman4330 I hope that things are okay with him and his sister, I know that they been facing some difficulties of late, maybe he just didn't realise that Jen would post today, as it was later than usual?
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Yeah...maybe so. Hopefully, we'll hear from him, sooner rather than later. . .
I'm from London. And went to New York in 2004 and saw this in the cinema. Watching with an American audience was a great experience. I remember the New York cabs had the punisher movie advertisement too
Back when this movie came out, this co-worker and I were right out of high school and had a little thing for each other but never really did anything about it. We saw this movie and 3 days later she wrote me a note and in it said "I want to be your Kirsten Dunst" and we dated for 6 months :D so the romance in these first two movies is really real haha great reaction as always.
"Go get 'em, tiger" was always Mary Jane's catchphrase in the comics, so it's cool that they snuck that in at the end.
Yes, you should watch the 3rd one...just to see how how a great franchise can go so wrong.
One of the best superhero battles ever made...
🕸 In case no one has mentioned it yet, just like 90% of all Steven Spielberg films have a score by John Williams, 90% of all Tim Burton films have a score by Danny Elfman. It's always fun watching your reaction to superhero movies. At some point, you ought to check out the movies that initially made Tobey Maguire famous, "Pleasantville" (1998) and "The Cider House Rules" (1999), in which his costar was Michael Caine. Kirsten Dunst's early films are fun too, like the original "Jumanji" (1995) and "Dick" (1999). 🕷
I was *really* hoping to see Alfred Molina doing the same hand gestures he did in the beginning of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, when he was getting the tridium.
7:50 Thats Bruce Campbell! Total legend! 😎 He's friends with Sam Raimi and is known for the Evil Dead movies, if you're feeling brave maybe check those out or at least Army of Darkness since its more comedy than horror. I think you'd get a kick out of the unique style of comedy! 🙂🙂
I never saw the Evil Dead movies but I did see Evil Dead: The Musical lol 😂 The audience wore garbage bags & got sprayed w blood 😂😂
@@jenmurrayxo lol wow I had no idea there was a musical! I'm jealous! Thats basically what happens in the movies so sounds accurate! 👍 😂😂
Jen sees Spider-Man without his mask. Screams “he doesn’t have his face on!”
😂🕸
Hey Jen, Doc Oc is such a good villian. He believes his mission is for the benefit of mankind, but at what cost. ------ Doc Oc's experiment woudl have caused such destruction. Eventually Dco OC realized he had to take down the arm and his fusion experiment. ----- Self sacrifice always takes things to the next level. Spidey 2, Great reaction.
Thanks K2!! ☺️👍🕸
"My back! My back!"
Even though that the reaction was probably legit since Tobey ACTUALLY HAD back problems, the way he delivered that line is so funny to me.
Nice reaction. 👍You should sell shirts that say "Grampa Wheeze" on it that have a silhouette of you with head tilted back laughing. Also, have another shirt that says "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" with your silhouette and your fist triumphantly in the air. 🙂
😂😂👍 Great ideas!! I'll def look into that!
29:39 Funny thing about this shot. There's nothing up there for his web to attach to, just air.
To answer your question.
Watch all 8 Spider-Man movies in order.
He is blessed with wonderful villains. You will enjoy them all.
Once again excellent reaction with your own Spidey Senses when it comes to intuition.
Patiently waiting for the look on your face when you see the Happy Gilmore villain in the next Bond. You truly are so enjoyable.
Emily Deschenelle, the receptionist who wouldn't pay for the late pizzas, starred in 12 seasons of "Bones," about a forensic anthropologist, based on a series of novels by real forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs.
And Elizabeth banks at the bugle
@@Blaiyan Thanks for the reminder!
I remember a time wolverine caught an elevator filled with people similar to what spidey did in the 1st movie with a cable car, and he talks about how he could feel his muscles tearing and the burning sensation. So you can only imagine the pain spidey felt and how strong he is when stopping the train.
Yes Jen - you must watch ALL Spider-Men movies, including Into the Spider-Verse before watching MCU Spidey (and maybe Venom!)
Tony Stark ended up perfecting fusion technology. ☀️
Still top five superhero movie for me. So good. The train fight alone is superlative. And Raimi getting all Evil Dead 2 with the doc ock surgery scene is awesome. 😁
Doc Oc seriously scared me in the original Spiderman cartoon when I was younger. He struck me as that really scary crazy angry uncle.
I love when horror directors make superhero movies
Agreed!! Sam Raimi (IMO) did even better with the recent "Doctor Strange" Sequel, and I Loved it!!
Jen, you made this reaction a lot of fun. This is a top notch comic book movie.
Originally, they were going to cast Sam Neill as Doctor Octopus, and I think he would've been a good choice, but Alfred Molina was just perfect for the part.
That fight on the train is excellent. One of the best action scenes ever made.
Danny Elfman also made the music for Tim Burton's Batman movies, Mars Attacks! and Edward Scissorhands. Keep the fun coming, Jen.
Peter has PLENTY of love interests in the comics. He just has to learn work life balance...:)
Still surprised we haven't gotten a live action Black Cat or Silver Sable yet.

Great reaction Jen! Saw this multiple times in the theater, one of the best comic book movies ever. The entire second half is perfect. The only thing that I think would've made it better is if they had actually kissed in the cafe and MJ immediately knew he was spider-man. The look of shock on her face could've then been matched by the shock on Pete's face when he senses the car coming. Then, when Doc Ock tells MJ spider-man is dead it would've had extra meaning for her.
Danny Elfman is an acclaimed composer who has written over 100 film scores in his career. He is best known for his collaborations with film director Tim Burton, such as Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and Alice in Wonderland. He has also had successful collaborations with Gus Van Sant, including Milk, Good Will Hunting, and Don't Worry He Won't Get Far On Foot. More recently, Elfman composed the scores for the DC comic Justice League and the Fifty Shades blockbuster trilogy. Great reaction as always Commander. It appears I am overdue for an umbrella. Cheers!
Amazing, Danny Elfman is so awesome!! ☺️👍🕸🌂
This was the best superhero movie when this came out, even better than the first one, which was awesome.
My only (sort of) gripe was Doc Ock being like "Look I'm about to do fusion! And oh yeah I made these robotic limbs that can be controlled with a neural implant and would revolutionize neuroscience and alter millions of peoples' lives in unimaginable ways... but look I made power!"
FYI, Tritium, an isotope of hydrogen, used to be considered the most expensive substance per gram because it has to be made in a fission reactor. It and deuterium, another hydrogen isotope, are the reactants in a hydrogen fusion reaction. Today, it's still in the top four or five most expensive substances. Californium-252, used to find oil, and antimatter, which is simply for particle physics experimentation, are the only two that consistently cost more. Fortunately, many products that use Tritium only require miniscule amounts equivalent to pennies.
Awesome reaction, great villain , wisdom nugget , skinny making a cute appearance 🐈 , fantastic captions enough said 👌🔥🐙🕸️🙌
"Go get em tiger", gets me everytime.
Not Fair Jen, Not Fair...on top of doing the Best React ever on Spidey...you start with the cutest puppy and then, as if that was not enough, you bring out the big guns...the kitty...not fair..not fair Mademoiselle...hahahah have a great est of week and week end...😋

SPIDEY 3! I keep forgetting about the Emily Deschanel cameo in this! That receptionist seems so different to her character in Bones
best sequel to ever be made, it really emphasized on Peter Parkers struggles apart from the foes he has to defeat as Spiderman. This movie still holds up today against other ones.
This was a really good movie. I love the wall-crawling fights!
My vote for best Assistant Reviewer goes to Skinny!! You should put him on the payroll! 🐱
Hope he returns for Spidey III. One of your best reviews, Jen!!
He'll be so pleased 😻
I just recognized "Bones" in this movie 😅
danny elfman did Beetlejuice and men in black and a million other great films, most of tim burtons, check out sleepy hollow if you haven't yet, one of my favorite elfman scores :)
Christopher Young did some of the score, did a variation of his Hellbound score for Dr. Octopus.
Doctor Octopus is incredible in this movie. So well done.
Great reaction.
I wouldn't say you shouldn't watch the next one, but you won't be as happy as you are now. 2 was definitely a high watermark.
Thanks Simon! ☺️👍🕸
It's funny seeing people who've grown up with camera-phones freak out when Peter has his mask off :D It was 2004, nobody on that train had a camera phone. Hell, probably only half of them even had a cell at all and even if they did have a camera, there was no twitter, facebook or insta to upload any photos to. So in the absence of a photo, what would anyone on the train even say about him ? He's an average height, average build, brown haired, twenty-something white guy. The only way his ID would be in trouble would be if someone Peter personally knew was actually on the train. They saw his face, not his driver's licence :D
Jen,
Uncle Ben's death is completely Peter's fault. It is what gives him his motivation and moral center.
9:53 Love how you guess it before it’s even revealed! #sherlockjen
The scene where Doc Oc throws the car into the coffee shop is a great action scene, but makes little sense story-wise. Since Doc Oc doesn't yet know Peter is Spiderman, why would he hurl a car directly at him, likely causing his death, when he is supposed to deliver him alive in exchange for the Tritium? Oh well, still a great flick!
Elijah, the Original Vampire and Dr Temperance Brennan in Spiderman.
Boston deserves his own UA-cam channel! 😊🐶
I'd watch that!! He's definitely got charisma 🥰🐕
My favorite of the trilogy. Sure, go ahead and see the third film. Why not?
Great reaction as always Jen!! Yes please to Spider-Man 3!!
