- Had this mystery man show up to the shop from Ethiopia to show me some rocks, which turned out to be Uncut Gems, specifically Uncut Opals this time. Benjamin did convince me to over pay on this jewelry, but I bring them over to my friend Mike and show you exactly how we cut these rough cut opals, polish them and turn them into a new fresh opal and how we make jewelry. TraxNYC.com for your opal piece today. IF and only IF I pin your comment I will send you a free opal, just watch out for the scams in the comments.

Sorry to say but the real master was the guy from Ethiopia.
@alfredobatista9818 not really he knew risk and he wanted to show how they where processed as he said in the beginning

My daughter and I find opal as the most amazing of all the gemstones because it comes in near endless types of formations and designs and no two stones will ever be perfectly identical!
We love collecting opals, though it's a gamble if your not at the source getting first picks. Another beautiful thing about collecting gemstones such as opal is knowing they come find places all around the world!
We hope to travel one day and get to go into an active opal mine so we may get the chance to pull our own opal gemstone from the Earth!!!

Agreed. Opal is one of my favorite stones. I have a few uncut natural opals that I got at an opal mine. I'd love to cut and polish them one day.
I hear you, but I would say the opals beauty is like looking into the universe with the stars all around.

Awww grandma I miss you.
I went to Australia with a group called people to people when I was in 8th grade. I bought my grandma opal earrings when we toured a place. Well my grandma always called to tell me every time she decided to wear them. I must say it was probably the best money I spent there. Sadly when she passed I asked for the earrings but no one knows where they went. I’m glad you made this video too. I miss you and love you grandma!

Brother I would be fuming. That seller knew exactly what he was doing.
Like how traxx shows full transparency, not just on how not to get ripped off but also not sugar clotting everything and showing when things don’t go to plan. Honesty is admirable and something that becomes less common it would seem as time goes on.
You can tell this is someone that really enjoys the craft. He doesn't act like he knows everything, and stays positive when things don't exactly go to plan. That's the kind of boss you'd wanna work for
I gues it is possible that he might be bearable, but doupt anyone wats to work for a boss lol

I love the tour of Mike's factory. An amazing introduction to how opals are cut.
And this is why I respect bro. He ain't lying to us. He takes a risk He knew he lost but someone's trash is another's treasure and a smart man knows that
hes lying to you about iced out watches i can guarantee that
@@CICellDirectorCairmann How 💀🤣 he's literally the one I learned about lab diamonds and real diamonds and has the machine and prices to show it
But he is lying. He said he got scammed. You scam people that don’t know any better. He’s a jeweler, or at least claims to be. So he knows better… or should have. He started off by saying “I didn’t spend my money, my homie spent my money instead of his own.
On the note of trash to treasure. I took old electronics people were trashing and turned them into a solid gold coin of my daughter. That’s trash to treasure. Even if he overpaid on the opal, he will make a profit because jewelry is usually 3x-4x the cost of the elements used to make it.
Lol “spent my money a little better than he spends his own.” 🤣🤣
That looks pretty dope I’m not going to lie
Just goes to show that the learning process never ends. Love this dude
Very nice stone
I love the fact that he's educating all of us on how all these stones and metals are actually cared for....why does he not have a show??

Sometime you have a win, sometimes a loss. Overall you have teached alot of people what to look at and what to think about if they want to do this themself. Thank you for that.
You're the most honest person in the jewelry business!
It's a reminder to always clean the gems before making the purchase. If the seller isn't willing to let you verify their value then they are probably shady as hell anyway
These parcels are called opal gambles when you buy them, because the potch inclusions can run very deep and you never know if it will totally ruin a stone until you start to cut. Gambles are usually pretty cheap because you need just as much luck as you need skill to shape a good gem out of it. The value of a well cut opal is 10x the value of a rough gamble opal. A seller could lose money trying to cut a stone, so they prefer to sell as-is in bulk to save on effort and time
You live & You learn...

Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica (SiO2·nH2O); its water content may range from 3 to 21% by weight, but is usually between 6 and 10%. Due to its amorphous property, it is classified as a mineraloid, unlike crystalline forms of silica, which are considered minerals. It is deposited at a relatively low temperature and may occur in the fissures of almost any kind of rock, being most commonly found with limonite, sandstone, rhyolite, marl, and basalt.
Should be some of that in Arkansas where the rhyolite is....
