Excellent. Watched it this morning at 5am. Looking forward to Episode 9.5 - Lockdown Special part 2. The early 70's World Cup goals (red and blue netting) were my favourites. I do like the look of the subbuteo Italia '90 goals. Very impressive.
Nice one Keith. Very interesting and fascinating show as all the others have been too. Keep it going. Regards to your fellow presenters and stay safe, all of you. Keep flicking!
@@TableTopYears it is just fabulous how you bring back the nostalgia of the game from our youth but also maintain the modern aspect of the game as it stands currently. You are instrumental in growing the community too along with some of the other new Subbuteo channels. Long may all you guys continue to do so.
I’ve been watching every episode and subscribed I really hope this channel survives it’s so enjoyable, I’m 60 now and remember my days very fondly I’ve still got my World Cup Edition second layer unopened, a few teams extra and goals, I plan to get in the loft and see how they are.thank you to the team. John
I hope you realise Keith how much you and the guys mean to people, it was such a fab surprise to find this episode. I mentioned playmobile table football a while ago and I have just realised there are some new versions out Interational teams and a Bayern munich stadium and players
Villa were in Div 2 at the time - wouldn't get promoted until 74/75. So I wanted Leeds to win but completely changed my mind after that Montgomery save. In the commentary David Coleman says "No North East Club has ever lost an FA Cup Final at Wembley....following year Liverpool 3v0 Newcastle. Gotta love Commentators :)
Great extra show Keith, well done for putting it on, I snapped my World Cup goals years ago and I,ve never found a glue that will fix them, maybe it,s the type of plastic?, those goals at Upton Park and loftus road were the best
Hi Phill - couldn't agree more about the Championship Goals (Loftus Rd). Stunning on the pitch. They do bounce the ball out like a spring but...still fab :)
Thanks for another great show Keith...lifted my spirits in these dark times. Lovely re-creation of the 73 Cup Final too...God, how I miss 70s football. The modern game really just does not do it for me. :-(
With you on that - I was thinking this morning that maybe it's because were young and looked upon the players as flawless heroes and they smoked and swore...got covered in thick mud, clattered each other and I always felt I could recreate their games in our local field. Apart from a splash of Brut you would certainly never have seen them shaving their chests in a toiletries commercial!! Now we're older maybe the innocent worship has been worn away with age and we don't have a field in Britain that looks or plays like a Premier League pitch. Feeling all nostalgic now, may have to go and buy an Austin Allegro.......
@@TableTopYears It may be partly the innocence of youth, as you say Keith. But I think it goes far deeper than that...the game today is all show and no substance. Clubs have become "franchises", who employ overpaid foreign mercenaries to prance around and fall over, in order to sell merchandise. The game today is ALL about money It used to be a sport...now it is just a business. Success in the game has been concentrated in the hands of a few super-rich clubs, who win everything year in, year out. Could you REALLY imagine the likes of Burnley, Wolves or Ipswich winning the title today, as all of them did in the late 50s - early 60s? No, with one obvious exception (the blight on the game that was hooliganism) I believe football in the 70s was superior in every way to today's corporatised, sanitised but ultimately hollow and unsatisfying version. My only interest in the game these days is in its history... your excellent programme along with BACKPASS magazine. In fact, I much prefer Subbuteo to real football nowadays, and have done so for many years. Keep up the good work. 🙂 Rob
Brilliant Keith , loved the feature on goals.Subbuteo World Cup ones were my favourite, still use them now , both with blue netting. And bless you for recreating Jamie Vardy’s record goal on the Subbuteo pitch 🦊💙⚽️ Stay safe mate
Thanks Jim - although you've made me look a right Oik! I have 3 sets of World Cup Goals and never thought to play with the nets matching. D'oh! Take care yourself. Cheers Keith
I do that too Jim...a few years ago I purchased some World Cup goals from one of my regular eBay sellers, and specifically requested they both be supplied with blue netting. It never made sense to me to have the two goals with different coloured nets...
If you wanted to use the excellent World Cup goals with the same coloured netting back in the day then you had to buy 2 sets. Hmmm, maybe it was a deliberate ploy by SSG back in the early 70's to get the customer to purchase these goals twice, or am I just being cynical ??
I am interested in that poster behind you kevin ARGENTINA 78 welldone I am a table football player Subbuteo was such a great game but Subbuteo is the name I remember 1996 last days of it I still have something from those days exxelent video
Great set of items - one question - the No 1 Goalkeeper Soccer Game - were you playing the wrong way? It seemed like the 'Super' team were scoring past the 'Super' goalkeeper and vice versa.
I didn't like the Pegasus Metal goals. Call me picky, but they don't sit on the goal line. The posts and the crossbar are behind the line and they have that stump at the base of each post. I remember the World Cup goals which came with the Munich WSE and I also bought a set with the alternative net colours.
Hello, I'm a boy from Portugal, I loved your video as always. I and my father love to play subbuteo but we always end up arguing because when shooting on goal it ends up leaving its position and we couldn't know if it was a goal or not then we were upset with each other. They could offer two metal goals to not create so much confusion. I would be very happy if they invited me, a hug from Portugal.
I am so happy that I am not the only Portugal boy that loves to watch TFM. I never tried Subbuteo before but I will try it someday as soon as I get enough money to buy lots of Subbuteo accessories and even make dioramas like for example, scale models of stadiums. A big hug from Portugal.
Really appreciate this extra show, I tried several types of goals in my youth with the first world cup goals my favourite. Have heard metal goals can be hard on the football, have you found that with balls breaking? Thanks & stay safe
Thanks Philip. We've never had any damage to a ball - we use Top Spin balls which, to my mind, are among the best. You may have noticed on the piece I did that a shot or two cannoned off the bar with no problems. Personally I recommend them but I get many Subbuteo folk prefer to stick with the plastic.
Fantastic show Keith, good on you for keeping it going during weird times. Great Cup Final recreation and what was that device you used to take the corner kick? Love the action of those No1 Goal Keeper goalies! Kia Kaha from NZ Keith, you folks keep safe.
Appreciate the note - thank you. That green chute is a Subbuteo accessory (Set JJ) for lifting the ball and was also used as a support for Subbuteo Stadium Terracing. Cheers Keith
@@TableTopYears Peter Upton's site used to include all the international variants of striker I had with different mouldings - interesting too. Loving the show!
Hello Table Football Chums - an interim dose of table footie to help pass the time. I've been a bit daft and forgotten to put the email address in for the competition - many of you know it but for those who don't - info@tabletopyears.com Sadly no Danielle or Smiffy due to travel and isolation restrictions so it's a little different in style and content but I hope you enjoy it. Cheers Keith
Who invented the term ‘zombie’? We had both and I enjoyed playing with either of them. In today’s world it would be a similar argument as to which is the best mario kart racer?
Table Top Years I know you have plans for part 2 so I’d like to put in a good word for the Paul Lamond goals that you get in the Team set amongst others. Put in a little bit of work with the net and you have a robust and not bad looking goal. Only time will tell if they warp though.
can you please present the new FISA rules ...unlimited flicks per player, shorter goalposts for better proportions to the plastic original keepers, unlimited positional flicks, and much more. These make the new subbuteo really like football.
Why do they call it soccer?!?!?!? It is FOOTBALL!!!!!! Interesting to hear about those goals, which do you think is most realistic and best to play with specifically?
Metal goals win every time as practical, sturdy and good looking goals - the only negative, as mentioned elsewhere, is that rebounds off the posts and bar can travel an unreal distance. For plastic, the yellow netted Mundial goals are sexy in situ and retain the ball well followed by Itaila 90/USA 94 and Euro 96 goals (all the same design). Chipped goals look great and they are a nicely scaled, realistic looking goal
Football is a generic term. In the UK when we say football we mean Association Football. In other countries football can mean a different sport. A number of other countries use the name Soccer for Association Football.

Has FISA been reformed? I thought FISA packed up in the 1990s when it merged with ETF to form FISTF.
Since FIFA is the real football that means FISA is the real subbuteo!
