I know this comes a year after your comment. I am about to purchase a 2017 Pathfinder and would like to get a warranty as well. Where did you get yours from? What was the price? Appreciate your response if possible. Thanks.
I have 2017 S 4WD bought new , only 29000 miles now and transmission was replaced in 2018 when it had 10000 miles.I drove from San Diego to Las Vegas and transmission broke.I used to tow 2500 lbs boat. After they replaced the transmission I stop towing it . Transmission does not fail anymore.
I found your channel after buying a 2017 Pathfinder SV a couple years ago. Great to know I should prepare for the fan system repair. Looking forward to the video!
Very helpful! I purchased a new 2017 Pathfinder Platinum trim also. Cooling fan assembly also went bad about 60k miles. Also had a, module go out on the transmission and could not shift the car out of park upon starting, unless I did it manually. Other than the usual maintenance, those are the issues that I have had.
We had a 2013 platinum PF for 5 years. The cvt died after 102k miles. Just 2k over the 100,000 extended warranty. Cost us $4500 to replace. The AC died at 125 K. The rear tailgate lift struts were replaced 2x. Once under warranty and once again at 136k miles. Overall we liked the pathfinder and just bought a 2022 platinum addition but only because Nissan switched the transmission to a 9 speed.
Bought a brand new 2017 Pathfinder Platinum (Pearl White). I had the same problem with the fan in 2022. However, I bought the OEM part from Nissan (way more than $200 for OEM part, but didn’t trust the eBay part. I had my trusted local mechanic install, and saved about $300 on labor. Also the side view mirrors don’t move via the door controls, I have to adjust manually. Will have my mechanic fix when I bring to him to fix the next problem )said that a while back but nothing else has gone wrong with it. I bring my vehicle to the Nissan dealership for oil changes as I take advantage of their multiple pre-paid oil (synthetic) & filter changes. Cost is about $250 or so for 6 oil changes within 3 years timeframe. Get a free car wash & vacuuming when they do the oil change also! 😂 You did forget to mention about the Remote Engine Start which is right on the key fob. I also own a Mercedes E-300 with premium package 3 (loaded) and that vehicle you have to subscribe to the service to be able to use the remote start and then you have to do it with your phone, not able to with just the key fob! I also like the surround view camera better than the Mercedes one, Pathfinder’s is more accurate/precise as the Mercedes has a thick b”border” around the vehicle on the screen! Although the Mercedes can park itself! 😂 I have owned my 2017 Pathfinder Platinum for over 7 years now. I just went over 40,000 miles last week! She still looks and drives great. Have replaced the tires also but I think I bought the original brand model again.I got a hell of a deal back then and great finance rate.
I have the same vehicle. I just did the recall to replace the ABS system actuator & hope you do yours. My problems were the head unit would black out out. Bad directions on the GPS system, and shows 99.9 mpg gas mileage to this day. They reflashed the head unit two years ago and it fixed most of the problems. Repairs include replacing the weather seal around one window. Problems include hatch not opening when the rear seal got hot - got to remember to clean it. Also the foot wave thing to open the hatch rarely works. My service work includes CVT service and induction system cleaning at 30k miles. It is a GDI engine so remember the valves will carbon up so do your induction cleaning.
I just bought a 2017 PF. Love it so far, the only thing that I don’t like is when I shut the car off, the automatic locks don’t unlock. I don’t know if I can change that setting or not. But it’s a little annoying since I’m used to the locks unlocking after the car is shut off.
Love your videos. I used to own a 2016 Pathfinder. Loved it except that blasted radiator fan. Do you know of any current Pathfinders, 2015-2024 that do not have that problem?
Good review as always. I also have a 2017 SL fully loaded with all the options as the Platinum less the hideous wood grain finish. I did pretty much all the same upgrades as you have. The only difference is I bought 3D Max Pider floormats that really look good and protect just as well as weathertech and the others but look so much better. Lastly I totally agree with this PF ... great ride and I haven't had any issues so far. Going on 36K miles. I think the bad rap it gets is from the previous years 2012-2016 model which had the bad cvt's and the exterior look not as aggressive as the 2017 and beyond. I might trade it in a couple of years for the new PF but I would wait till after the 1st model year as to let them fix any 1st year issues and go from there.
I just bought a 2018 SL midnight edition, a little less than 60,000 km's. I'm a little nervous about the CVT after doing some research because I'm thinking about towing but it seems like the majority of owners don't experience any issues. Thank you very much for the service tip every 50,000 km's.
I thought I was the only one that experienced the cooling fans going out. My 2016 lasted about 37 k or so..replaced them myself as well and not covered by the vehicle warranty which was bs. Also have done my oil changes as well after the service agreement ended. That was a waste of money..next car I purchase absolutely no service agreement.
Thanks. GREAT information. I'm looking at buying a 2017 Pathfinder, but not this premium version. I appreciate your direct and very complete assessment.
I frankly find the pathfinder a better more attractive and aggressive looking than the qx60 , these front headlights are so damn good looking , driven mine from Dallas to Panama City beach and the ride was quiet and smooth , the platinum does offer pretty much everything , even though it was missing apple care play but that was to come in the next models so it’s ok .. it does have multiple usb ports in the center console though with a little opening for the charging cables to sit in without hindering the console cover when closed …and holy smoke this engine got a lot of power , just make sure you keep your hands on the wheel when floor it because the vehicle will do a little sway but it feels good 😂, it’s very spacious I was surprised at how much room it has compared to its previous truck frame generation . One thing to i noticed is when the gas light comes on or when your near to an empty gas tank when you press down hard on the gas it will jitter gasping for gas which wasn’t such a big deal I just try to avoid letting it go all the way empty . The entertainment center even though it’s old but it does what it’s supposed to do and it does it well , the screen is wide enough and it’s touch screen , I even did a video in motion bypass and it works great , I can hook up my phone directly via the audio video inputs in the center console and all my phone screen is right there on the LCD . Love it . Just like he said make sure to keep the maintenance on the vehicle in check and it should run you for a long time . Great video
I don’t understand people talking down on Nissans CVT’s so much my dad has a 2014 Nissan pathfinder with 287,000 miles has never gave him any issues at all other than maintenance and his 2013 Nissan Altima has 226,000 with also 0 issues just maintenance? That’s Actually what made me pull the plug in buying a 2023 Nissan Altima SL seeing how reliable Nissan had been for him as a daily driver because my 2018 M5 is a gas guzzler
Earlier models of CVT did have problems and Nissan states their transmission fluid is lifetime, which is not. You really need to change out the transmission fluid about every 40k miles. If you maintain it, they do last a long time. Also some UA-cam car reviewers have bashed Nissan CVT even though they have never owned one or experienced any problems. People are just repeating what everyone else is saying. Of course if you hear it or see it on UA-cam, then it must be true. BTW, I just bought another 2023 Nissan with CVT. Will have a video about it on my channel soon.
I have a 2017 Pathfinder SL with Premium package. I did all the oil changes myself, and did a CVT fluid drain and refill at 21K miles when the whining noise started. After the drain and re-fill, the CVT fluid pan started to leak.. Luckily it was covered by warranty.
We have a 2017 pathfinder 4wd and every year like clock work something breaks down. Hate this pos, never gonna buy another Nissan. Love your channel and all the videos. Keep up the good work
Hi dial2fast, loved all your videos. i recently purchased a 2019 and discovered that 2017 and up the 3.5 is direct injection and there are many owners facing issues with smoking and sludge in this engines. They recommend (not Nissan) not extending your oil changes and actually doing them between 3,500 to 4,000 miles. Do you have any smoke at all or notice any sludge in yours? Thank you.

I have a 2018 Pathfinder that has failed ac with a rear pipe leak and the cost to repair is over 2000. I am very dissappointed that the air failed after 6 years on the road. I am very meticulas taking carer of my suvs .
Nice I have a 2013 pathfinder platinum that came with the TVs on the front seat headrest. Love the car just curios about my transmission. No issues yet but it is about to reach 130k miles
@@cosmo1kramer I heard the transmission tends to go out before 150k also, if you’re buying used make sure it only had 1 owner and that the interior is taken care of .. it’s usually a good sign that the previous owner didn’t abuse the car
i have a 2017 NISSAN pathfinder SL , 82km now and its noisy the mechanic said the final drive assembly need replacement , the parts cost 4,200 Canadian dollar. 😢
it is a great car, I have been driving nissans for the last 10 years: altima, 3 sentras, rogues and now we purchased a 2020 pathfinder sl rock creek ..everything was good until yesterday and the battery was very low and the car did not start, nissan send out the road assistance and they gave the car a boost and she fired up! so far so good but, I'm kind of not confident as nissan said that the heat can drain the battery.
I got 2017 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. I love driving as such, but on this vehicle it’s outstanding. I’m at 99K miles (with only 620 miles during 2020 lockdown). Six months ago, reverse parking camera go kaput. I am scared to visit Dealer Service Station. Any suggestions, please. Best wishes 💐🎶🎉🚙 🙏Ashwani
Thanks for your nice video, I am going to buy 2017 pathfinder platinum with 80k miles , is it good for buy or not? Could you please give me nice advice, and how much I have to pay (price)for that SUV
Nice update. I have a 2017 Nissan pathfinder SL with 46,000 miles. Only 1 issue so far - right front bearing went bad! I looked at your expenses but did not see CVT transmissions change fluid cost? Could you let me know when you're supposed to change it?
I only did the CVT fluid service recently (long overdue). You should change the fluid every 30k to 40k miles. You will need 4 to 5 qts of the Nissan CVT fluid which cost about $20/qt. I made video on how to do this service ua-cam.com/video/6O4uOcr0sBw/v-deo.html
Love your video Plan on buying 2017 but my only question is, is it good on gas And how much does it cost to fill a whole tank I live in Toronto 🇨🇦 I'm guessing you live in the states
It has a 3.5L V6. All V6 of this generation will get about 12L/100km which is not great for today's standard with all the turbo and hybrid vehicles. But all the Pilot, Atlas, Highlander of that generation is all the same for gas mileage.
The only issue might be the radiator fan bearing noise which you can replace the fan assembly. I made a video of it. But you can't predict when or if the problem will occur. Only other thing is do a CVT transmission fluid change service if you buy the Pathfinder at 51k miles. The mile is still low enough that doing the service now will have the transmission running without problems for a very long time. The recommended CVT fluid change is 35-40k miles. Other than that, it's a great SUV.
i had the same problem with the radiator fan shortly after 36,000 miles, now at 54000 miles, i had to replace the rear right bearing, which was making loud grinding noise
Hello, I Just came across your useful video ... I'm planning to go for 2015 model with 150KM DONE !!... do you think is it worth it as I'm not sure what I will be surprises with maintenance !! and have no clue with maintenance is costly or reasonable .. plus I don't know if this model has CVT transmission or not ... thx
This generation of Pathfinder (R52) all comes with a CVT. There were CVT issues on the 2013-2015 models. They did revise the transmission in 2017 and I have not heard of any issues. But with any Nissan CVT, you should do a transmission fluid change every 50k miles.
Your channel is amazing and I am amazed and jealous of all the modifications to your Pathfinder and Odyssey. I have been watching your channel ever since I started shopping for a pathfinder and while I would love to ask you a thousand questions, this is the one I would pick if I could only ask one thing. I have the same year and trim with the added 4 wheel drive, and my largest complaint is the lack of CarPlay/Android Auto. I have looked at adding the feature to the car and was wondering with all of your modifications have you ever look into the market for CarPlay/Android Auto add-in kits? Specifically the ones that maintain the stock radio. Naviks - Niftycity - Unavi - NaviPlus - NavTool I am currently leaning towards the Niftycity kit as its allows Touch Screen input and wireless Carplay. My only reservation is the installation, as they wont supply the Install Instructions unless you purchase the product,(all of which cost around $700) and to add touch screen capabilities you have to disassemble the screen and add a interface board between the screen and OEM head unit. Have you ever had any interest in these kits, or do you think it would add value to your Pathfinder? Thanks for all your great videos, and all the time you give to inform and teach.
Hi MysticViper, I appreciate your question. Android Auto is a feature that I really would like to get for the Pathfinder ever since I got the car. Over the years, there have been couple of different vendors selling add on kits (which you have mentioned). One thing that is prevent me from getting it is the premium price they are charging. At $600-$700, that's a HUGE mark up on a piece of electronic that might have cost them less than $100 to make. As to affordability, that's all relative depending on the persons own finance. So if this is a feature that you really want and will make you happy, then it might be a good add-on. The install is quite involved from some of the related videos I have seen on YT. So difficulty is dependent on each persons skill set. If you take it to a car stereo shop to install, they will most likely charge $100-$150. Lastly is the question of accessories adding value to the car. The answer is NO! Sometimes it will even decrease the value if done poorly. The market value of the car is only based on what came with the car from the manufacturer. Some people think if they add aftermarket sunroof or aftermarket leather seat covers will make the car the higher end trim. It won't. That's why when I sell my car, I typically spend a day ripping all the add-ons I put in the car. So the dealer don't have a reason to tell me how the car has been modified and it's hard to sell.
Hi, I have 2013 nissan Pathfinder. I am facing a problem. Which is when I drive my car, stop on turn left or right or turn on roundabout car, start shaking, gave bit jerking and I have to accelerate a bit .. On straight road, it drives fine. Please help me if you can

Best wishes

Yeah I’m gonna purchase the 22 pathfinder
😐I wanted this 2yrs ago when I traded my '10 Maxima, but couldnt afford it, so I got a '16 Rogue SL. 😊No regrets, the rogue IS comfy & gets good mpg ⛽
Love your video
Plan on buying 2017 but my only question is, is it good on gas
And how much does it cost to fill a whole tank
I live in Toronto 🇨🇦
I'm guessing you live in the states
It has a 3.5L V6. All V6 of this generation will get about 12L/100km which is not great for today's standard with all the turbo and hybrid vehicles. But all the Pilot, Atlas, Highlander of that generation is all the same for gas mileage.
I have the 2020 SL Rockcreek and I love it.
Hi, as I know this model has very low ground clearance, is it possible to modify that and make the ground clearance better?
Practical and helpful review 👍
I had to replace the differential coupler on my 2017. Otherwise I love it.
Did thee fan issue not come under the warranty? Great video and overview.
Warranty is only 3 years. This happened after 4 years.
Great review! Thanks
much appreciated, thank you
Very Helpful Review!
Can I purchase yours when you get the new one? I have the 2007 it's still in good condition. It has 250k miles.
Thanks for the video. Buying a 2017 sl with 51k. Any issues you think I should look out for? Thanks!
I have a PF ‘27 sv 38,000, it hesitates after full stops from time to time, like a red light. Do I have a lemon? What can it be….
i had the same problem with the radiator fan shortly after 36,000 miles, now at 54000 miles, i had to replace the rear right bearing, which was making loud grinding noise
That’s funny my right rear wheel bearing and fan went out too
Can you make a video of how did you install the Amplifier
Yes I did film the install. Just need to find time to edit the video. Please be patient and it might be out in a month time.
I have recently bought 2017 SL - just wanted to check if it has auto drive set up?
Bro where did you get the carbon fiber layout for the climate contros ? Also the floor mats😢
Excellent job thank you
Hello and thanks for the video. What is that carbon fiber center console overlay? (seen at 3:45)
I applied carbon fiber vinyl over the panel ua-cam.com/video/aHUv41yW710/v-deo.html
Can u send me the link of where u got the USB add ons for front and rear. Just purchased a 2017 nissan pathfinder sl. Would like to do that.

Is it good to buy 2017 Pathfinder with 157 KMs?
Watch out for the cooling fan
Hi there , just a question did you had any mechanical problems on it ???
Or cvt transmission problems ??? Up to the moment
There is no CVT problems with this gen of Pathfinder. Just make sure you do a transmission fluid change every 30-40k miles.
What about the 2016 model ???
Is the Radiator barring included in the powertrain?
@@dial2fast thanks for the advise bro
@@bsalama73 very nice vehicle but 150k mileage the cvt will blow up, and is very expensive to fix.
I am planing to buy 2018 model 46000 mileage is it reliable ?pls advise me thanks
YOU'RE THE BEST 👍👍
How to update gps navigation for 2017 pathfinder Ti
For this model Nissan, you can only update the factory nav by purchasing a SD card map update for couple hundred bucks.
@@dial2fastcan CarMax do this for you? I have same car.

What do u think of 2015 pathfinder
Hi, I know this is random but what iPhone mount are you using. I am looking for one since I just bought my used 2018. Thank you.
I use Android phone, and I have a magnetic mount in my car. This is what I am using ua-cam.com/video/DBSAvSSRK9M/v-deo.html
Hi... Can I change the LEd with Android Auto play
Didyou install cameras on your Mirrors. On the top next to the pillar there appears to be a small lense on each side.
I did not install any cameras.
@@dial2fast I wonder if it is part of the 360 degree camera system
Hi, I have 2013 nissan Pathfinder. I am facing a problem. Which is when I drive my car, stop on turn left or right or turn on roundabout car, start shaking, gave bit jerking and I have to accelerate a bit .. On straight road, it drives fine. Please help me if you can
Check your cv axle or have a mechanic check it.
@dial2fast that bulging and shaking is not a cvt problem . Thanks for your reply
How does one use other apps on this car? Since NissanConnect doesn’t work on this?? I have had issues using my phone connected to this car model
Do you plan on getting the 2021 Pathfinder? I love how the new one looks.
Since my 2017 is still so new condition and low miles, I don't have any plans to trade it in. Maybe in couple years time.
I prefer not to buy the first year of a new vehicle generation because probably will be recalled and issues. I want later buy one of the new Nissan Rogue.
Regards.
Hello how's the CVT holding up after 6 years ?
No problem with the car. Still drives great. Just make sure the CVT fluid is changed at about 35-40k miles, and it will be good.
My jx35 Cvt replaced at 70k miles
Did the color mess with you?
How many liters transmission oil is needed when cometely drained ns3 , cvt transmission
What kind of gas do you put in your pathfinder ? Which number if you don’t mind me asking
Regular 87 octane.
You mentioned installing a subwoofer, did you do a video of the install?
What phone mount is that? It looks really convenient
It's a CAFELE magnetic phone mount. You can buy it on Ebay ebay.us/J8B45Y
have u had any issues with carbon buildup on this engine?
Are you going to upgrade to the new one????🤔🤔🤔
