Foulkes & Sons S6 E7

- And so, another year draws to a close and, in typical Foulkes and Sons style we cannot bear to face the future, so instead, we embrace the past with one of the great alumni of Savile Row, Sir (well it is about time) Jeremy Hackett, eponym of that most British of outfitters
For this very special broadcast, Max and I were package signature, black watch towbar with cream, silk shirts, and bowties to give a friendly festive air, but find ourselves utterly outclassed, and eclipsed by the great man, who attends in a blaze of tartan and black tie complete with headgear. Among the topics we discuss is Jeremy's early days on Savile Row, and then the Kings Road, how we met at jumble sales in the 1980s, and we reminisce over the many treasures that we found, and those that we let slip through our fingers. Jeremy also gives us insights into New York in the 1970s where he wore a cordovan blouson and lived the Taxi Driver lifestyle: the film, not the professional of driving a Hansom carriage or Hackney cabriolet for hireHe walks among us as if he were mortal.
I find myself replaced by an owl, one of Abercrombie and Fitch's finest creations from the 1960s, this prompted much humour at my surprise to find that the old Abercrombie and Fitch they had supplied Ernest Hemingway with Safari jackets had been transformed into a boom, boom room of Stygian darkness, where young people in scanty apparel endeavoured to sell me, sportswear Jeremy, of course trumps that having visited the actual old school store.
Given that this was filmed at the time of the World Cup (please do not think that we were involved in anything as vulgar as planning ahead, far from it, we just did not get round to editing it until now) there are also some vague and futile attempts to understand the beautiful game about which Jeremy understands as little as I do. So instead, we retreat into the comfortable conversational territory of clothing.
As for the cigars, we taste the new British regional edition, Ramon Allones. Private Stock 230 which arrives on these shores pre-aged. It was supposed to have made its debut in 2020, to mark 230 years of Hunters & Frankau, but two years of delay (COVID compounding the already quixotic scheduling of the Cuban cigar industry), have worked in our favour to deliver a cigar that lands a punch with the sort of balletic grace not seen since Muhammad Ali. On the Richter scale of Havanas Ramon is usually up there, battling with Bolivar for the title of superheavyweight champion…if I may mix my geological and pugilistic metaphors. So it was with no little trepidation that we ignited them, but trepidation turned to delight as wave after wave of rich, sweet flavour cascaded across the palate. If you want to know a little more about the cigar, and its genesis, read my article in FTHTSI
After a few centimetres the intensity builds and the traditional traits of the Ramon assert themselves: yes this is a prize fighter all right, but a prize fighter in a dinner jacket tailored by Huntsman of Savile Row. Seldom if ever has Ramon Allones been so sophisticated. According to Jemma Freeman, owner of Hunters & Frankau this is no accident. “There are a lot of cigars out there that can be very strong. But we wanted to go to the lighter end of Ramon, we were looking for a more elegant cigar. So, when we tasted the options and had the conversations with the master blender at the factory, we selected a blend that is still fits the profile of Ramon Allones, but certainly not the very, very strong end because we think that the consumer palate is becoming more sophisticated and is now able to appreciate a balance of flavour, strength and aroma: it can be rich without being knockout and it is going to age in an interesting way .” And, viewer, ageing in an interesting way is what we at Foulkes & Sons aspire to.

Happy New Year, Gentlemen!
Ah, yes. The consummate gentlemen.
Cringe!
Happy New Year to you too, kirby.
I have purchased my first davidoff Nicaragua box pressed.
What a wonderful oak smoke to enjoy whilst in Thailand.
Here is to a prosperous and healthy new year.
Gentlemen, you're a bunch of legends!
Hey kirby, nice to meet you here
I most enjoy how the guest is so unperturbed by the banter and rapid-fire interjections. This is a man who can pull off a wrapping paper suit. Great work.
Never in the field of human conflict, has a cigar been lit for so long, but so little of the foot has lit.
The mental image of Foulkes Sr lost in mid-2000s Abercrombie & Fitch is certainly starting the new year on a high note.
🤣🤣
Max looks more like he should have a baguette than a cigar.
My resolution for 2023 smoke many and more fine cigars and watch many and more fine episodes of Foulkes & Sons! A very happy new year to the Foulkes' and the viewer keeping this channel afloat on his Majesties internet.
I am imagining Feliks Topolski walking down Savile Row trying to buy agricultural labourers smocks now!?
I dont understand what Im watching but I like it.
Good evening gentlemen. We are grateful for a refined host who appreciates Cuban sigar and a long, quality smoke. The seats could have been Chesterfield club armchairs. Happy New Year to you all and God save the King 🥳🍾🥂🍀🍀🇬🇧🍀🍀🇬🇧 🇬🇧
🙏🏼
Such joy watching you guys. Priceless banter of the highest quality. You should have your own tv series!
Thank you three, for the illuminating and entertaining content that you have delivered this past year. Best wishes to you all in the New Year!
Happy new 🎉 year guys
Damn, Nick was on top of his game with this one. Dribbling lyrical lines like Messi 🔥🔥🔥 and the aim of the game; is to achieve a salary of half a million pounds a week. 🤣
Splendid conversation to watch and subsequently learn! Happy Christmas and prosperous a New Year!
What an honor to have Mr. Jeremy Hackett on the show. Happy New Year gents!
Sir Jeremy

Goodmorrow, Gents.
Gentlemen, wishing you a Happy New Year! (Here in Canada the great storm is over, power has been restored. Your viewers can do great viewing again. And much to our surprise the snow is melting away...) We are there with you in spirit, holiday spirits of course. I raise my glass to you. Prost! Cheers! 🥂🍾🎉
Glad storm has abated
Back to your very best gentlemen. Truly A1 guest in Jeremy. Happy New Year
Gentlemen, always a pleasure to be invited into your home. Your guest Sir Jeremy Hackett exudes the high standard of a British gentleman. His lounging cap is the crown on a stylish ensemble. I first fell in love with the Ramon Allones small club. I hope your review of it's big brother will not cause all RA prices to increase substantially. I see I am not the only viewer from His Majesty's Canada. Such a grand country and just the 2 of us. My idea is a stretch but I do think His Majesty King Charles III would make a wonderfully funny and entertaining guest. Foulkes, Sr. would bring out the best in him. Cheers!
👑👑
Happy New Year gentlemen……. Continued success in your future endeavors. Best wishes to you and Sir Jeremy for a comfortable 2023 🎉
Thank you Gents for another entertaining session. This one was very special as you had Sir Jeremy with you, and you were even more incoherent than ever. Extremely amusing, thank you, Happy New Year to you all.
What wild and crazy cats! 😆😆
Happy New Year from California.
All the best Gents! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from across the pond gentleman!
Happy New Year to legend and son and your distinguish guess Sir Jermony
Happy New Years!
Prospero Año Nuevo!!
From south Texas.
The poncification is off the charts!
Max try warped cigars or their Drop offerings. The dream hunter I think you'll love.
Do you think that Nick and Max will ever explain to us their taste in rings... what they are wearing and how do they match them? In the hundreds of videos I have seen on men's fashion, Nick's and Max's ring choices and the way they wear them is unique.
I'm looking forward to airing of "KING CHARLES CORONATION Celebratory Scotch & Cigar Toast
Well done and well smoked. Happy New Year fellas.
Hilarious as always, but also informative! Happy New Year gentleman...looking forward to more broadcasts for 2023. Wishing you luck in finding at least one sponsor! 😆
Abercrombie of old was on Madison a few doors from Brooks Brothers. In addition to a gun room they had a pool on the roof to try their fly rods. I would often sneak away from work to enjoy that roof and look down on the pedestrians and the men all in hats. Alas.
To continue the theme, this broadcast was the bees’ knees!
These videos are fantastic.
Jeremy is the absolute best straight-man ever. I suspect he avoided the “sparkling” tea. 👏
Very Entertaining! Happy New Year Gents!
Always entertaining! Happy New Year men!
Happy New Year to you gentlemen.
Happy new year shaggers! 🎉
Happy new year
Happy New Year fellas!
Happy new year from Italy! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m a huge of the Foulkes in the US.
Max is outstanding in his knowledge of cigars and utterly brilliant {and maybe a little eccentric} in his choice of clothes and other attire.
Thank you
That's a fine tartan
Happy Hogmanay
A very Happy New Year to you all!
Great time watching you gentlemen enjoy fine cigars. I live in crazy California and just found your channel and absolutely love it. Nick is the coolest man on UA-cam. Keep up the good work.

Happy New year to you all gents. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your latest episode. I was lucky enough to sample one these cigars recently and found it to be thoroughly enjoyable with a flavour akin to black tea. I'm sure they will age very well. Cheers.

Gentlemen up to your usual 5 star standard - pity you couldn't have dressed up for it though. Keep your chins up and Happy New Year from the antipodes..
🎉
It would be fabulous if the Foulkes could speak on the meaning of rings, their choices of clothing, and what they mean to them!
It would be marvellous if you could upload a vid on the new Davidoff No.1 Panetela
Will you gents be reviewing the davidoff year of the rabbit?
Already on UA-cam
Can you please put the name and brand of the cigar in your video title or description? Thank you. It would be helpful.
ahh - the Australian viewer in Shepherd's Bush, also the Australian viewer in the land down under!
Hello.....Hello...Hello
Masha'Allah ماءشاءالله Max! 😆
Get in the bin 🚮
@@HEATSEEKER00 cry more.
The band? Bounders !
Happy new year gentlemen !, could I ask why you cut and light ?, I was taught by my great uncle to light then cut !…. Horses for courses ??
We might try that
I'm loving the Teba jacket, Max! What brand is it?
Hackett
Gentlemen,
How have you found the ST Dupont cigar cutter/stand combo regarding specifically to its cutting performance? I am satisfied that the stand is a nice feature; however, I am mostly curious as to how its cutting performance stacks up to ST Dupont’s traditional guillotine cutter or those of notably reputation such as Davidoff’s guillotine cutter.
Thank you both kindly!
Foulkes senior and junior, again kicking ass and cashing checks, the alpha males of cigar smoking (Cuban cigar smoking😉)
💪
The viewer is one but many
Who made that smoking hat and where can I get one??
Smoking a small club corona as a watch.
Know its a long shot but is Jeremy related to Father Jack Hackett?
When are going to start selling shoelaces and ties? Regards viewer.
😂
“Mind you Gruner, because if you aspire to be accepted into English Society you'll do well to remove the band from your Havana before lighting it otherwise you'll be put down for a bounder.”
Lunatics
For the first time max you are so under dressed, !
These people actually exist in real life
Absolute plonkers
Δεν το κλεινει η γρια
Find it quite annoying the chinese would do such a thing tbh...
