btw I know nothing about the comics lore of The Boys, but even as that scene transpired, I was pretty much taking it for granted that at least part of the reason that Homelander didn't necessarily look "worried" (maybe more just curious or confused) was that he's powerful enough of a supe that whoever's doing that simply wouldn't be able to explode his head like that. But that a supe at the level of, say, Shockwave, obviously he's a lower tier that he would be vulnerable to that.
Yeah I miss that. At they very least, when they start making House of the Dragon content, they should get Sansa back in there because at least it's Game of Thrones-Adjacent. I get why they don't use it for everything, but once we get back to GoT related content she should open every episode.
Cindy crushes people! This head explosion thing is definitely someone different. Go back and watch the scenes in slowmo. My best guess is it's someone from the church of the collective.
Funny enough, that's how I guessed it was Butcher's family - the +44 code. I'll be honest, it feels weird to call him English with that accent, but I guess I can go with it.

The shot of Butcher with the cigarette in his teeth was so good. I haven't read the comics, but that shot had the vibe of "this is a very faithful recreation of an iconic panel"
My theory is Sage is not just about making compound V work with adults, but it is a more targeted compound V that creates specific abilities. Then Stan Edger took the targeted compound V to give himself super powers that he wanted (in this case he took the same compound V they gave Cindy). That is why he has no fear of Homelander who would be absolutely frightening to anyone without super powers. He is already a supe, and one with powers of his choosing. He has been tactical with his usage of powers to this point, but then got his back put up against the wall and went nuclear.

One thing that bothers me about this season is that Billy Butcher is public enemy number 1 and nobody is monitoring his family? Not even his mom?!? And how was it so easy for lamplighter and hughie to get in the tower? Where is the surveillance?
Didn't make any sense how the tower has no security cameras or security guards whatsoever. Hughie has time to cut off a hand while alarms are sounding and not a single person shows up and nobody is guarding starlights cell and they get to walk around freely. Also all the black noir theories were disproved. "Strongest character" and "can take down homelander" the dude got beat by Maeve and then nearly clapped by a candy bar.
I'm like 100% certain in the scene where Stormfront is looking at the baby shes actually eyeing the black chick in the background but just says she misses her daughter to manipulate Homelander
Doctor V experimented on his Jewish prisoners. Stormfront says she was the first (successful) human test subject, and that she and Doc V fell in love _after_ that, and apparently after he'd "taught" her everything. But rather than being "taught" I suspect it was more like she was brainwashed - a Jewish prisoner and test subject, the procedure went well, the dr obviously took a close interest in the first success and he became infatuated with the beautiful young prisoner. When the walls of conditioning come crashing down she'll break, realising she is Jewish and a Nazi. Alternatively she will be killed by Kimiko in the season finale. Whatever, it's all good - it's The Boys!
Look up the edit of the end “head bursting scene” where they have “What’s Going On?” playing in the background, it is really funny and works far too well.
Black Noir looks like he has been zombiefied, like Lamp lighter was in the comics. V has the ability to reanimate bodies... I'm thinking that's what they are doing with black noir.
I find it funny how Stormfront brings up pewdiepie because he's considered to be a nazi racist by so many people and he's obviously dropped the hard R live on twitch.
When you talk about Homelander's "moments" it's just a lie, someone who cares so little for human life, any human life as he does is a complete loss and needs to be not on this planet any more, there is no road to redemption for him, he is too far gone. You can argue about who's fault it is that he is that way but in the end when someone is a total loss you just have to admit it.
Cindy being the killer makes zero sense. Why would you reveal her early, but keep her off screen for her kills like it’s gonna be a shocking reveal later? Cindy’s a red herring
@@omaralkharraz2410 because Vought is a Nazi, but Vought covered that up still so I'd say so that he can work in the shadows undisturbed as a bureaucrat while Stormfront is the public face
Hard disagree with Aaron on the use of Lamplighter here. While he's right, that in traditional narratives and arcs, Lamplighter 'going out on a high note' would be more appropriate, I think it runs counter to the general philosophy of the Boys show. The Boys asks us to superimpose the real world, with its relatable vagaries and failings, onto the traditionally escapist genre of superhero comics. It repeatedly, gleefully, undermines any attempt to mirror things that happen in superhero comics; Homelander can't catch a falling plane, Madelyn Stillwell, the evil corporate executive isn't even behind the evil plan to create super-terrorists (why would she? she's a corporate exec, they do evil shit, but they don't play that risky because they're afraid of exposure), Blindspot the blind superhero is instantly deafened by Homelander, etc. So ask yourself, using your real world glasses, what a person who is 1) complicit in multiple murders of minors, both willful and accidental 2) probably guilty of multiple counts of statutory rape 3) spent most of his adult life as a celebrity shielded from all consequence by money would be like? Is this the kind of person who, in the time of need rises to the occasion? Or is he just a piece of shit? In the real world, people don't typically change. For every case of a person turning their life around, there are a hundred that go unnoticed where a person struggles till the end of their life with their flaws. Being sympathetic doesn't make Lamplighter a good person.
My initial fear when he remarks on his statue being removed, I immediately thought the whole "break in" thing was a ruse for Hughie's sake, that Lamplighter had intended to burn Hughie (right in front of LL's statue for theatricality) as possibly a way to have good graces back in with Vought.
I think there may be a connection between Cindy and the Church, on top of that Stormfront knows who the church is and used to be apart of them, whoever is using similar powers to Cindy, I think they're related to her and I think Cindy might know exactly who it is, let's not forget that powers are hereditary, Homelanders son has the same exact powers.
I felt like Aaron did about Lamplighter at first, but knowing what he did to those kids it's fitting that he doesn't even get to realize his last selfish act was actually one of redemption.
I don’t see how that ending could support Vought given that that was the equivalent to a terrorist attack where only those against Vought were killed. Especially if it’s a Supe who did it
Lamplighter DID save Starlight, that was not a coincidence, his whole plan was to go light himself on fire in front of his statue in the Seven conference room. He didn't realize they had replaced him already, but either way, he knew it would set off the fire alarm, and Starlight would figure a way out at that point. He did wanna killself, but I think he knew his last moments he was helping the love birds out by setting off the fire alarms

I don't think it's a super exploding heads. The supe would need to be within visual range (at least) of their victims to pull this off. That means it'd have to be someone who's been at those encounters, someone watching the secret meeting & then in that courtroom. In the comics there are 2 major moments that involve mass head explosions. I won't spoil the comic, but I'll say it's not a supe doing that. It could be that some version of what went down during those moments could be happening here. It's obviously politically strategic--whether it be Vaught, the government or the church. I agree with those who don't think Cindy is behind the head explosions. She implodes whole bodies. These heads explode. Plus she's now free of Vaught & if it was her there'd be no reason to hide that fact. My feeling is that she's going to disappear for a while & then turn up again as a deus ex machina, very much like the Trashcan Man from "The Stand" (if anyone is familiar). Additional thoughts: I don't think Stan Edgar would do something so base as explode heads. I think that's too "getting hands dirty" for him. He could be ordering it, but not actually doing it. That doesn't mean he's a not a supe; he's just not this one. The closest we get to Edgar in the comics is a mysterious unnamed Vaught employee that oversees the supes. He's powerless, but the only one w total control over them. (Homelander even mentions how the guy's heartbeat never changes when he's around them.) Whether it's because of powers, Black Noir, V, implants or whatever, he definitely has a way of stopping supes. One of the things I love most about the show is how wildly it diverges from the comic yet still feels completely "in universe." I enjoy the fact that I have no idea where the plot is going; I can only tangentially compare it to the plots in the comic.
@Casanova Frankenstein That's what I'm thinking too. One thing we don't know is how old Black Noir is. I have a feeling he's going to turn out to be much older than the rest of the 7 (except Stormfront). I think he's either a clone of Edgar/Vaught or his son. He could also not be the first Black Noir. Perhaps the first Black Noir was Soldier Boy. It would make sense for him to experiment w V on either a clone or son first before injecting himself. I also don't think it matters to Stormfront that Edgar is black. I think she sees is as "ends justifying the means." He's hiding in plain sight. Perhaps there was an actual Edgar but they killed him off & that's Vaught replacing him.
At first I was also upset that Lamplighter didn’t get some kind of redemption, but then I remembered he slept with/ raped minors and sooooo he doesn’t ever deserve redemption actually... especially since he doesn’t even seem sorry about it. Glad he didn’t purposely burn kids but he did purposefully sleep with the sacred heart cheerleading squad.
Perhaps Stormfront threatened Cindy's family to make her do it. Or they have figured out the genetics of Cindy's powers and transferred them to another individual.
Show had me thinking that the stabilized compound V is so if they get a winner power they can copy and paste to new people they want. I think Cindy is the copy and the Allister church guy is the original power. Also cindy works as a patsy if he so he can play the part of good normal guy instead of super power cult leader. Then we know stormfront had a previous relationship with the church. Like either she left when they wanted anyone instead of just neo naiz's or she didn't want to be their figure head in the seven. The church lets them get away with better indoctrination then what they did with the mr fantastic clone and if they get more 7 members for the church they get more power to spread their influence. It also would explain why A trains replacement is the only super to die there he's expendable enough to take the hit and say ut was a terror attack instead of vought being behind the attack. Also believe stormfront doesn't care about ryan besides him being a better power donor if they copy and paste and better target to indoctrinate then homelander. We've seen what he would do to someone lying and ryan is a much safer bet to control then him.
I like this. I was thinking Starlight and Stormfront have the same power. - Starlight needs a source of electricity. - There is static electricity stored in almost every object around us. - Stormfront has at least 76 years of practice and grew up during a time where electricity and handheld devices with electricity were way less prevalent. - Starlight has 15-20 years of experience and grew up in the information age. - Starlight's electrical discharges in Season 1 vs A-Train appeared wide and unfocused like wide beams of a car's headlight. - Stormfront's electrical discharges are so precise they create plasma and appear as lightning. Stormfront is a product of her time in so many ways. She was almost forced to access static electricity in order to use any part of her power in the 1920 to 1940 especially if she was pushed to a warfront. Annie grew up with incredibly easy access to sources of electricity and so did not or has not yet learned to control her power to the same degree that Stormfront has. Like Katara learning there is water in flowers, trees, even her own body and the air from Hama in the episode "The Puppetmaster" from Avatar the Last Airbender.
It's a bit nihilistic, but what I took from Lamplighter's brief story is that you don't always have the time to redeem yourself. He was right about the fact that if he went to court he would die. He definitely wasn't wrong.
The look of shock and grief on Homelander's blood soaked face in the episode 8 trailer is intriguing. There's really only 4 people I can think of who would cause that look of loss. So, in order of those he loves the most, the blood must be his own, Ryan's, Stormfront's or Maeve's. My money is on Maeve. To all the people saying The Boys comedy is nothing but dick and butt jokes; tree nut allergy!
Someone in a discussion thread called the ending, "The Head Wedding" and I'm running with it

I was literally just watching the old GOT rewatches of season 6. So crusty haha
There was so much potential then
"They're bringing on D & D for the finale" Too fucking soon, man.
Nobody comment that Elizabet Holmes is playing Vogelbaums dother? Seriously?
"The red hearing"
Black Noir is like a terminator
Perhaps Stormfront threatened Cindy's family to make her do it. Or they have figured out the genetics of Cindy's powers and transferred them to another individual.
Love you guys
MM's shirt yo! Phife forever! R.I.P. Phife Dawg! #Tribe
This one felt like a Finally.
I really hope its not cindy. My guess is Edgar or someone new/The Collective
You mean... Nerd SUPE? 😏
It's a bit nihilistic, but what I took from Lamplighter's brief story is that you don't always have the time to redeem yourself. He was right about the fact that if he went to court he would die. He definitely wasn't wrong.
Need soup is the shit! Been a fan since got season 1
8 ep seasons are to short. I'd take 10 or 12
The look of shock and grief on Homelander's blood soaked face in the episode 8 trailer is intriguing.
One step forward two steps back
I love you guys!
Big doinks in amish
Thank you for calling fat Neil fat neil it means alot
Community reference zZzzZzzzzzzz
It's also 100% NOT CINDY!!!! Why would it be Cindy? It's someone in the church 100%
Great episode guys I just hope that it isn't Cindy, I like this character.
NerdBros you should be doing a Raised by Wolves review/discussion/ramblin'... Its brilliant ridiculous Sci Fi nonsense n it deserves a 'soup chat
I'm tryna determine if Ryan's dead or Becca's dead. Stormfront is totally gonna go off on somebody
