the Ultra towers can perhaps play certain movies without a sub quite fine..they do however have a woofer which helps it get quite low to 28hz it says in their site..thats really impressive for a tower speaker

I have heard both in person I actually prefer the pinnacles. To be honest it's really hard to tell the difference they are both amazing speakers.
Put two svs subs in the mix , I’d go with the ultra bookshelf over the pinnacles

I agree with what you said about the ultra towers accept if you are crossing over the bass to subs I have found that distance around speaker doesn't matter. Mine rock!
So im comparing the ultra bookshelves vs the prime pinacle towers. Ill have a goldenear forcefield 40 for the lows. Which is a 1200 dollar solid sub imo. Even though a bit overpriced. I feel like the ultra bookshelves might be the best bet for me. Theyd be in a normal living room converted type.

Thank you for your excellent video comparison here and your other video comparing the Klipsch RF-7 III to the SVS Ultra Towers. I have been considering replacing my two-year old Klipsch RP-280F towers with tower speakers containing dedicated mid-range drivers. After watching other videos comparing Klipsch and SVS tower speakers, I have decided to get the SVS Ultra Towers.

Great vid 👍 Dude! Thx for the comparison. I wanted to know for a while if the Pinnacles are a worthy upgrade to my Ultra books. Svs employees told me that the Ultra bookshelf is better. They said that it would just give a clearer sound because the Ultra series are tuned different. What do you think?
Ultra highs are crystal clear, This video was based off of a front stage opertion for music and movies. The bookshelfs are amazing but werent meant for bigger bass. Inherently it doesnt make sense to compare towers to bookshelf speakers, but the people asked for it and i filmed it.

The Ultra Bookshelves actually sound a bit more refined to me than the Pinnacles (at least on this video), but I did just receive a pair of the Bookshelves this past week, so I'm likely a bit biased!
Given that most SVS speaker buyers will be running a high quality sub(s), I hope the Bookshelves aren't overlooked for the value they are (especially at the Memorial Day Outlet price I paid). That savings will go a long ways towards upgrading sub(s) amps, etc. They play loud and low for a bookshelf speaker. In fact, I've been doing much of my listening with my subs turned off, and have been really surprised what they can do.
That said, I can't imagine going wrong with any of these three. SVS has set aside any of my notions that they are subwoofer company, and speakers were an afterthought.
I agree, totally. I thought the Pinnacle sounded a bit recessed and less cohesive. Though that was just on UA-cam. I wonder how they timbre match with the ultra center. I really was hoping for a smaller ultra tower, as they are just too big and weird looking for my taste.
All svs speakers are timbre matched. the ultras pair well with primes and vice versa.

I have heard the pinnacles and ultra center and the pinnacles and the prime center. they all match very well. I had the microphone at ear level but the speakers were much closer than I normally listen. if they sounded different then that may be why.
For home theater, if one has these quality speakers, one is likely to have one or more quality subwoofers, so one would likely not be using any of these as large/full speakers. SVS Merlin only recommends setting crossover 10 Hz lower on the Ultra tower over the bookshelf. So the extra extension would be somewhat wasted in that setting. If you have the money and listen at very loud levels, the extra dynamics might be worth it or you want them for high quality music but otherwise the bookshelf Ultra would be better especially if you put the money into larger-higher quality subwoofer/s or other areas.
The Prime Pinnacles come in veryyyy close to the ultra’s. With some EQ they would sound just as good as the Ultra.

It was just meant to be fun. I almost always preface these demos with "it wont sound the same as im hearing vs what you listen to" there are several factors that change the audio. its just meant to be fun. These arent meant to sound like youre there in person.

.. based on the fact that the perfect speaker does not exist, I recently compared the following speakers: Klipsch RP 6000F, SVS Ultra Bookshelf. SVS Ultra Tower and SVS Prime Tower. My modest impression is that the high frequencies of low volume Klipsch can be heard very well while on the SVS it is necessary to raise the volume. On the contrary, the middle and lower parts on the low volume SVS feel better, on the Klipsch to hear the bass you have to raise the volume a little. Another fact that I noticed is that at high volume Klipsch distorts, instead SVS hold power well and the sound remains clean. I live in a condominium so it is essential for me to listen to both music and movies at a medium-low level! At this level the SVS tweeter is very lazy ...
Did you re run audio calibration between the two? If you have it calibrated for one then just unhook the speakers and plug the new one in, then the calibration will be off. What you hear wont be accurate in that case. But i think you are right about some things :)

Dear friend That Home Theater Dude I was very sincere to report my listening impressions! The low volume SVS tweeter that doesn't convince me! Especially in Home Cinema for those who, like me, listen at medium-low levels, the rp 6000f tweeter has more presence in the scenes with many special effects! Thanks from Italy for your videos!

Question, I'm currently running a 7.4.4 setup. Ultra center and 4 Ultra Towers. I've been pondering buying the prime pinnacles for my surround backs, but I'm curious about if I buy another pair of Ultra towers for the surround backs. Would that be a waist of money for the duties of those channels?
I had my mind set on the prime pinnacles, but the Ultra Towers are better in every way.
Getting SVS Ultra Centers had turned out to be wholly impossible for me. I have a business & residential locations both in the USA and in Europe. In the U.S. I cannot get them, because the SVS store front is not even accessible to me when browsing their site from Europe where I am now. Also, none of the larger U.S. authorized SVS dealers are permitted to ship SVS products outside the country. In Europe I cannot get them, either. SVS has a presence in Germany, but (a) they only carry the Prime-series and not the Ultras and (b) you have to be a resident of Germany to order from them. I am not even in Germany, so that was that. I was referred to an outlet in Hungary to get them, nothing going. Also, SVS does not even have a service center in Europe. So, whereas I must believe that SVS Sound is a good Hi-Fi speaker and subwoofer brand, if it is this difficult just to get their products, maybe I should look elsewhere.

BRO.. I was initially like, WTF- is he doing.. BUT After listening, -- OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... MAn... -- What camera are you utilizing, as the Audio- is pretty clear.
The subwoofers go lower than the towers. I would combine 2 bookshelves with 2 subwoofers vs getting 2 towers. But if you can afford them all, go right ahead.
The difference was obvious on my humble but decent logitech PC speakers. I especially noted the warm, more natural sounding high hat in one of your samples. Sold!!! Just pulled ther trigger on the ultra towers ;o)

The pinnacles sound very narrow and laid back. The Ultra Towers and Ultra Bookshelves has a more wider and open sound.

Really appreciate this. I have the Bookshelf now and a PB 2000 sub. If not for being in an apartment, currently, would have bought the the Ultra towers. I was trying to be nice to the folks around me. They might argue that fact with this sub, however. Next stop will be the towers and an extra SB 3000 or PB 16.
Your room sounds like a studio instead of theater. It does not sound alive. When you played the speakers did you run them at full range.

Any experience with the Prime towers vs the Prime Pinnacle? In these comparisons it seems as thought the PInnacle towers push high mid range a bit more. Possibly from the separate 5.25 driver? I'm limited on space and wondering if the Prime towers are going to match closely with the Pinnacle vs the Ultra.

All things equal, would you lose much or notice much of a difference if you had a 5.1 system (same receiver and sub) with 4 ultra bookshelves and an ultra center versus 2 ultra bookshelves and 2 ultra towers and an ultra center?
The towers along with the subs give a rich full sounding experience. When compared to the bookshelf and prime pinnacles, the thickness and full sound seems to drop out. This is just in direct comparison in between all speakers. I did a video talking about this called the pinnacles vs ultra. I think an all bookshelf system would be plenty. There is nothing wrong with those. If you arent looking for serious amounts of bass then they are a perfect fit

The towers have to 6.5 drivers and two 8inch drivers in the bottom of the tower. You cant see them but you can for sure hear them

Ok so here’s my take that wasn’t mentioned 😇 although it more concerns 2 channel music than a 5 channel home theater experience. With a 5 channel setup you have a center channel in place. 🤓 1st off SVS seems to be a fantastic company to do business with! 😎 How do I know, I have already auditioned a pair on Pinnacles in gloss black along with an Ultra Center! The pinnacles for the money are built like a tank and are just plain fantastic in the bass and mid bass region for the $900 a piece that I paid. No Boomyness at all just pure thump!🥰 Here is what is lacking if you are looking for it as compared to a KEF R series speaker that in disclosure is $600 more apiece for the R500 version. And you know what that is? 🧐🧐Imagining, yes imaging!🙄🙄. I’m not even sure some people know what to look for but after doing an AB direct comparison there was no contest. The instruments for the example with the KEF’s float in mid air! With the pinnacles they are coming from the speakers. And yes I have a great room for sound and placed the speakers in 20 different locations because I truly wanted to keep them just for the company alone. 😬 SVS also say’s you can use the ultra center with the Pinnacles but don’t take the grills off otherwise you will notice the stainless steel driver inserts absent on the pinnacles! 🙄 This even drove no none carrying wife nuts! Totally doesn’t match. What also drives an anal audiophile like me a little batty is I sure wish that the tweeters had a little more sparkle to them. From the sound clip here the ultras might have that covered because unless you are deaf or aren’t listening to this with high quality equipment you can hear the lack of sparkle the Pinnacles have compared to the ultras. Take into account with the very upscale black gloss finish the Ultras are only $100 dollars more than the Pinnacles which rally makes it a no brainer unless you really are pressed for space. I sure wish SVS made a even more upscale speaker than the ultra. It seems they share that tweeter with all the speakers they manufacture some for considerably less money. 😳 Give me an air motion tweeter any day but of course that would cost more! Personally if I am spending $900 a speaker I can justify spending double that for much better imaging especially if that speaker is backed with SVS’s fantastic Bill Of Rights policy! If they can make a $2,500 kick ass sub surely they can make a super dooper kick Ass tower using an even higher quality tweeter for incredible imaging and airy detail! In my humble opinion and as you can see which speaker he is returning to SVS the better speaker was kept! 🤫🤥. For a $1,000 regarding Home theater use the Ultra tower is probably the best mass produced speaker made period! Just wish there was more Audiophile goodness in the Pinnacles as advertised. Again fantastic for Home theater but not the best for 2 channel if you care about imaging! Guess what, it doesn’t really cost you anything to try them out so I 1000% recommended you do!😇😬 Maybe your audio sensory is different than mine! All you will be out is time and hey I have a fantastic high quality SVS tea shirt 👕 to boot! Just by looks alone you can see how much more expensive looking the Ultra looks compared to the Klipsch in the background and that speaker cost $1,800 a piece.😳🤔🤔🤗

How do the Prime Pinnacles stack up against the RF-7s? Did you by any chance make any ballpark comparisons before shipping the Pinnacles back? Since the Pinnacles came in a relatively close second to the Ultras then they should do fairly against the RF-7s even though the Klipsch’s are entirely different animals.
again, they are two completely different speakers. they are toned/voiced different. If you love the klipsch sound then the rf-7s give you more of it. They tend to be on the brighter side. the pinnacles were similar to the ultras but the low lows were lacking. the mids and highs were comparable but not exactly the same as the pinnacles

I just discovered you on UA-cam and FB and thanks so much for all the great videos and info. I watched your SVS Ultra Tower vs. Pinnacle vs. Ultra Bookshelf video and had a question. I've got a 5.2.4 system, all SVS, with Ultra bookshelves and Ultra Center as my front stage. I'm wondering whether the Pinnacles would be superior to the bookshelves for FL & FR. Given that I have two PB 1000 Pro subs they will pick up the majority of the Pinnacles bass extension so would that mean the Pinnacle would not be better than the Ultra Bookshelves for the front stage. BTW, moves only, no music. Thanks.

Trying to choose left and right front speakers. Would you recommend Ultra Bookshelves or Prime Pinnacles to pair with Ultra Center and 2 PB3000s? This is for a dedicated HT room that is 21Lx12Wx8H.
im a huge fan of towers. but for all that bass from the 3000s you will probably cross the speakers over at 80 or 60 so either will be just as good. IF you used them without crossovers then you may notice a bigger difference

I dont think i will be doing that anytime soon, Omnimount are great for mounting and really strong. ALways drill into studs in the wall and never mount a tv in just drywall. That should help out
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude oh! I meant for like mounting Amplifiers, power conditioners, etc. Like the TV stand you have where you put your AV reciever. Are there brands that have a spot in them for rack mounting ? Lol. Does that make since? :D thanks!
