In 2018, the band almost broke up and the song was written about emotions they were going thru. Its an emotional moment.

The song was very deep, it was made for the members when they are about to break up as a group, but they stayed together after hearing the music and they all cried because they realized they don't want to break up.

subunits are common in bts discography. there are songs that only involve rap line, song that involve only vocal line, but also songs with just two rappers or two singers and a rapper or two tappers and two singers, etc. they play around with combinations and choose based on what's the best for the song or who have specific preferences and ideas :)
BTS have a lot of rapline exclusive songs. Some examples are: UGH!, Ddaeng, and their 1-4 cyphers

It's very common in kpop to divide groups into units, raplines, vocal lines, dance line performance ect. It's a way to showcase different aspects of the groups as well as to give members a break during their shows..
For example BTS has a rap line and vocal line*. Straykidz has rap, dance, and vocal lines rachas* Seventeen has performance, vocal and hip hop units*. There are more but you get the idea. Thanks for your reaction
Outro Tear is a song that always gives me such mixed feelings. On the one hand I love it because it such a good song. But on the other hand, it makes me sad because it was born out of such a low point in their lives, when they felt so stressed and under so much pressure that they thought about disbanding.
Watched this tour LIVE. I love all the performances, BUT this one is insane. Their energy performing and the delivery. I can’t explain it.

I was at their Love Yourself World Tour and they covered 27 songs, including Outro: Tear. Concert lasted nearly 3 hours. The most amazing experience I've ever had. Their setlist comprises songs performed in a group, solos, just the rappers and just the vocals. Perfect concert!

Yes! I've been waiting for this. Yes, the lyrics are deep, most of BTS song lyrics are, but this one hits different because of the meaning behind it. I'm sure you'll get tons of comments about how the song came about, so I won't repeat it.

The vocal line and the rap line do quite a few songs separately. There are solos and duets too. There is not an mv for Tear and the one you watched is my favorite performance. I think you are going to find it is difficult to find songs that are not good by BTS. There are a few that are less popular and all but they are still impeccably produced, often produced by the guys themselves. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary.
I love how you interpeted it as being able to be applied to 50 situations....you automatically discovered the throughline of the entire Love Yourself Trilogy! RM has literally spoken about how Love Yourself Tear (the album this song is on) talks about all the painful aspects of love,,that inculdes the worry that comes with loving someone-- a child, a significant other, any family member...loving someone always includes pain, whether you're afraid of someone hurting them, them hurting themselves, afraid of the relationship ending...

There are actual rap line songs and vocal line songs. Outro Tear is a rap line song only. No other remix or version.

*Let me briefly explain BTS rapline to y'all!*
*RM* is a poet. You can not change my mind.His lyricism reads, sounds and works like poetry: a few words have multiple meanings and derivate in multiple chains of thought. Every time you listen to them, you discover new details, new ideas, new insights. Even when he's being straightforward, there's still some some philosophy or revelation or a big question or an aesthetic behind them. A poem is full of passion, but every word is chosen carefully, with intention. They're puzzle pieces, every piece has a place to create the full picture. It's a form of ART. WORDS WITH INTENTION.
*Suga's* lyricism is like "an arrow straight to the heart": you immediately understand the emotion he's trying to convey, you don't need to even know what he's saying to know "what you're supposed to FEEL". What he says is always interesting too, and it has layers too, but, from the first listen.... You usually feel that same way after listening to his song 1000 times. Even when the song is sociopolitical or when it displays an idea, your first impression is a STAB OF EMOTION forever tattooed in your memory.
*J HOPE's* lyricism is like a playground, an amusement park. A place where magical things happen, where you are encouraged to bend the rules. It's full of bright primal colors, you walk around with bounce in your steps and inevitably feel the childlike impulse of starting to dance around, or start imitating his onomatopoeias and alibis. There's a quirky creativity in his choice of analogies and a pure-hearted kindness in his message. Even when he expresses anger or sadness, there's this sense of DYNAMIC RHYTHM that is always moving, always unpredictable and ALIVE.

-SK (but personally their lyrics don’t hold up, in my opinion, from what I have heard)
-Bigbang (idk their music because I don’t really it but I would argue lyrically too in some cases)
-Epik High (but I don’t consider them kpop)
Bb and Epik High are both groups that influenced them according to the boys….

this is the song that gave the entire fandom a whiplash. It's by far one of the hypest songs and we used to go HARD on it. And we still do. But when the meaning of it was revealed, it's become like an ache in our soul. It's the most bittersweet feeling.

Suga wrote the song for BTS when they were having a really hard time and were thinking about breaking up. Suga played the song when they were all together and everyone cried.

Funny you thought J-Hope's verse was more aggressive. This was written first by Suga who shared it with the group, and they all broke down into tears. It was written at a time that BTS were considering disbanding in early 2018. Of course, ARMY didn't know that until the very emotional MAMA 2018 award show during their acceptance speech, and they all ended up crying again. They used Tear (like crying), Tear (like tearing it apart), and Fear (self explanatory). Of course, like any good song, yes, you can apply it to different situations.
Also, if you haven't heard the 3 rappers together before, try to find a fancam of them doing Cyper 3: Killer and Ugh at Busan concert from October 15th, 2022. It's insane. No lyrics unless a fan put them on there, so you'll have to check them on a lyric site.
They do take short breaks in concert which is usually filled with videos. They need it to change, sometimes to get oxygen and such after intense dance choreo, etc.
why are you lying to hype your fav SUGA? All rappers wrote their verses, each of them have songwriting credits and the main composer is Shin Myung-soo.

The thing is ratmys like you consume some piece of info from one source and never try to find more from other sources, and even that one source you try to cite here is taken out of context or with very poor translation into English. First of all Suga said it the passive voice "the song was written for the members", he never said "I wrote the song for the members". Secondly he did said he made the melody, but knowing other sources as writing credits and RM's vlive about Tear album and Outro:Tear song in which RM credits all songwriters including himself, j-hope, Suga, Shin Myung-soo & Docskim, you would have known SG was talking about melody line to the bridge, not the instrumental track itself. The track was composed by Shin Myung-soo and Docskim. It is highly based on BTS' Highlight Reel track which Shin Myung-soo is also the main composer (go watch Highlight Reel and play from the 9th minute onwards).
Now last but not least READ THE FKN CREDITS!!!! Credits are the most important and OFFICIAL info about songwriters and producers, not ONE interview in which Suga decided to speak only about HIMSELF and omitted other people involved, which imo was rude from his side.
Official credits btw, and notice the order which is not accidental or alphabetical. The order tells about how much someone was involved. Suga is listed as 3rd.
