The thing about BTS not appearing on the SBS Inkigayo (36:11) is that it was not circumstantial, it was a malicious ploy. KBS, SBS, MBC, aka the big 3 broadcasting stations, have deep connections with the Big 3 Kpop companies. Together you can say that they are “the institution” that Kpop idols must go through in order to succeed. They hate the fact that BTS and Big Hit never shook hands with them to bring themselves success, and they hate the fact that BTS sweeps the chart whenever a new song/album comes out without ever having to bow down to them. After their boom in success in 2016, you could tell that every time they announce a comeback date, other groups start to change their comeback dates so they wouldn’t have to compete a losing battle with BTS on the charts. The Big 3 wouldn’t do this, obviously, because of their giant ego as the Big 3. So what did they do in that SBS Inkigayo incident? They colluded with SBS to exclude BTS from the weekly chart do that their group could grab the first prize

If you're wondering about the allegedly misogynistic lyrics it's mainly about the song War Of Hormone which is very clearly an ironic look into the mind of a hormonal teenage boy. It's a total banger and as a woman I honestly don't have any problems with the lyrics whatsoever. To me it's a clear case of haters' gonna hate. 🤷‍♀️
Also, regarding the time after 2021 there have indeed been several incidents. I highly recommend Boracity Magazine's videos on BTS vs different entities in the music industry, like BTS vs Spotify and BTS vs radio. Very telling of the industry.

You might feel like it was a fair question to ask them about plagiarism by that reporter as he wasn't attacking them.. But I think it was inappropriate to ask them in that interview as it was scheduled for a different album release.. The interview was about Map of the soul album release and he was asking them about the wings album which is off topic..That reporter was just trying to stir some trouble..

From your first video on BTS until now, I'm actually really proud that you came this far, to understand who BTS are and it's really cute that you get overprotective just like us now. I'm glad you can see how much they went through to get where they are and that they are not manufactured. I think if you watch Rise of Bangtan it would answer a lot of those questions and concern over how BTS were formed and how the kpop industry is viewed. Tyler, you nice keep going!

These people didn't like the fact that a group from a small company could outsell their own favourite artists/groups....and through it all the seven members have remained humble and polite..... You will NEVER hear a bad word against any other group or artist come out of any of the BTS members mouths... for any reason... they are supportive of each other and of other artists. All they have ever done is work hard...a lot of times for no reward... Thank you Tyler for reacting to Rosann's (xCeleste) video and shining a light on the fact that nothing BTS have achieved came easy...

I remember a conversarion where they were all told to go home becase the agency was on the verge of bankruptcy and they could not even afford the tiny place where all 7 members were sleeping in one small bedroom. The members refused to go because they could not afford to and at the last minute Bang S.H. scrounged up some last minute funding....thats how close it was. Their filmed staycations were cheaper than a promotions budget. So many yhings now considered industry standard they innovated to overcome the way they were being sidelined and the fact there was hardly any budget. All the hate is still ongoing. Now they are trying to say RM is anti God???? This is snap shots of an endless barrage of attacks. The industry hates BTS because their success does not funnel money into the system. That only happened because the industry excluded them so they made their own way independently.

With all do respect, I'd like to give my 2cents on 2 of your comments in the vid:
    1. The reporter who asked about plagiarism, yes you're right the reporter job is to ask questions...but BTS was held the press conference for promotion of their album, so it is logically more make sense to ask questions related to that, besides...the fact xceleste brought up in the vid next was how then the reporter was in related to the another label company. Those 2 facts were tied together as part of the story xceleste brought up about those moves that had beed done to directly brought down BTS in the past.
    2. The German interview which a band's member said that BTS & the European etc should be divide on different part cause he didn't even understand their language. Well even tho I get your point about 'it is understandable to not like something bc of not understanding', but to divide BTS music bc they sang in different language, that's totally unacceptable. Why? Bc the world (ARMYs around the world) already proof it that their music BEYOND language barrier, that their messages through their music were well delivered towards the fans hearts. So, to dictate the world's music taste according language to me is just simply ignorant. BTS musics are accepted & loved beyond that.
I hope these two opinions from me give you a glimpse of what xceleste tried to show on her vid.
Okay, that's just what I want to add over your reaction vid. Overall I'm glad that you start to open up towards BTS. Borahae💜

I remember really ugly discussions on Social media due to this radio Show, and it was so unpleasant and just impossible to make people stop beeing ignorant and hateful.
We have a problem in Germany with structural and institutional racism, and although I really hope that I can See bts one day at a concert in Germany, i‘d understand if they decide to not come. They deserve better.

50:00 The live stream after the Grammies is through an app called VLive. The number of viewers are attached to member accounts who are watching live broadcasts. If viewers log out, that number would go down. If they log back in, the number would go up. They don’t duplicate views because it is LIVE. So the screenshot taken show how many armys were tuned in at that time.
If some armys log out, those numbers would not counted, so I don’t know how they could be duplicated. Now once the live is OVER, then yes. Those numbers could be inflated for viewers who have come to watch the uploaded video (but it is not LIVE).

17:31 no it's a huge thing in Korean culture to share food. Also at restaurants for example you usually order in multiple dishes that you share, not like in the US one each but multiple to share. And JK was so young and obviously nervous so it really pisses me off how they treated him. Even if they didn't feel it was appetizing and didn't wanna eat it they should have thanked him for the thought and just said no thank you.

Also xCeleste didn't go that much into detail of each thing and if you look more into the things that you thought were ok you'll see just how unfair and problematic these things were e.g. the reporter basically tried to slander BTS multiple times it wasn't innocent questions etc.

The 3 biggest kpop companies have power over the media they dictate what goes into media reports. Big Hit had the money now but not the prestiage as an older established kpop company. The Big 3 didn't want people knowing how well a group from a newer company was doing in the usa because their attempts to get their groups into the USA were failing. it's all about media hype. They dismiss what BTS has done yet at the same time they want what BTS has achieved.

The problem with the comment Liam (from Forever in Your Mind band) made (about how BTS should be in their own category, and how an American/European group should be at the top) is that it invalidates all of BTSs achievements in the Western part of this world. It's basically saying that BTS shouldn't be winning Western music awards, simply because they speak a different language (which has been given as one of the "reasons" they haven't won a grammy (before they made their english songs)) and come from an Eastern country. This is a clear statement of segregation and, I feel personally, jealousy, as this band wasn't good enough on their own, and this member blames bands from other cultures like BTS. I'm sorry, but that's the same argument racist or xenophobic (prejudice against people from other countries) people make when saying their "jobs are being stolen" or their "women are being stolen" and shouldn't be listened to by any self-respecting member of society.
Also, about Pollard's response to the twitter post, the problem is that he's saying that it shouldn't matter what she said on twitter, as it's not real life. However, what then about flaming someone on twitter, running a smear campaign, or even cyber bullying? That's also not "real life". Basically, you can't excuse rude and xenophobic comments on twitter by simply stating "it's twitter. It's not real." As that's taking away the responsibility the person posting it should have to consider regarding the impact of their statement.

yk rookie groups that don't get a lot of tv time is pretty common in k-pop, don't think that bts are the only ones who have gone throught this. There are some that even after years in the industry (and releasing good music) still get shitty treatment because of lack of popularity. That's actually the most common thing ever. BTS are VERY lucky to be where they are today, yes a lot of effort was necessary, but it's silly to believe that you can achieve your dreams with only hard work. Anyway, I think is nice for you to know about the reality in the k-pop industry, after all it is the industry bts is part of, a lot of stuff in these type of videos are over dramatic, as in "look at these poor little boys, they definitely are the only ones who went throught hardships :(".

Also, the problem with the guy from Forever in Your Mind, is the fact that he said "there still needs to be a British or American boyband on top". Why? Why can't a South Korean boyband be the most popular boyband? This line of questioning leads me, and most other armys, to believe that the reason he wants them separated is not because he respects them and thinks of them as boundary breaking, outside of a typical boyband, but because he views them as fundamentally different from English speaking (and mostly white) bands.

The comment about needing an American or British boyband at the top is downright xenophobic. And let's not forget the "I don't understand what they say" like it's a valid argument to dislike them which is borderline xenophobic. His band members were quick to dissociate themselves from his stance, which shows that they felt it was wrong as well

I think the point about the journalist asking about plagiarism is that it was during a press conference for their new album and he was bringing up old news about a past album. In addition, he seems to have been working for another entertainment company (aka one of the other companies who also have kpop groups and wanted to see BTS fail) and was likely only asking the question to try and detract from BTS' success by sowing contention. In addition, the claims were proven to be groundless.

Some of the issues raised might seem insignificant to western eyes but in Asian context were very rude and not correct journalist behaviour. Also the matter 're V And his Grandmas death is even worse than it seems. He was speaking on the 49th day after she died. In Korean tradition this is a crucial date when the soul can go on and be reborn. There are family special ceremonies to mark the occasion and V could not attend. The people who raised the hate would have known this very well. The malice was mind bending. Also because the family were hard up V's parents both worked away, and V was raised by his Granny and very close to her. It was heart breaking.

54:44 - the issue was that the band in question felt an American or European (read: *white* ) boy group needs to be on top. That BTS need to sit on the sidelines because they're "big enough on their own" so they shouldn't try to 'compete' with the 'white' acts and should exist in their own little Korean bubble. They tried to phrase it in a way that was a backhanded compliment by saying they're 'big enough' but basically told them 'Korean' and 'white' acts should be segregated, that a Korean group shouldn't be at the top of American or European charts

To give you an idea of the amount of views BTS receives, just last month for the first time a BTS member did an Instagram live. For context, he left a live on Weverse to use the buddy feature on Instagram because he wanted to include another BTS member in the live and cannot currently do that on Weverse.
So he went to Instagram, but it was his first time doing an Insta live and he had to stop his live to figure out how to add the other member. So he started another Insta live and the 2 members did a live for about 10 mins until they decided they didn’t like the Insta live format.
Now Insta is notorious for not sending us notifications when BTS members do anything on there, so the only ones who watched the Instagram live were people who had been watching the Weverse live AND were reading translations on Twitter at the same time.
Bc of course he was speaking in Korean and captions are not added until several days later.
Also, Instagram was majorly glitching & couldn’t handle the traffic, so many of us couldn’t get on the Insta live. When he cut the live short the viewer count was still skyrocketing. So after all that, for a short 10 min Instagram live, it was later reported that it was the 3rd or 4th most watched Instagram live of all time.

5:02 There are so many perception people have about Kpop idols and one of them is Kpop idols can't write their own songs and be successful. And BTS manage to prove those haters wrong. BTS really does write lyrics and compose their own songs and become successful in their own way.
15:34 21st Century is not mysoginistic at all. I've seen so many Kpop songs that are same as BTS from Big Three companies (SM, YG, JYP) and they never get attacked by media and called it as mysoginistic. But since BTS come from small company, BTS get attacked a lot and most media are paid by the Big three to bring down artist from small company.
17:28 BTS often being ignored by show host and being look down by the crews member because they came from small company and not popular at that time. After getting so many bad treatement by the shows, they made their own show which is 'Run BTS' that have hundred episodes.
30:20 Japan colonized Korea and killed many Korean. And mad at BTS for celebrating their own Independence Day is beyond disgusting. Japan still can't admit their crime and don't want apologize of what they've done. Japan still expect Korean to bow down to them even after Korea get their own independence.
54:50 It's racism and xenophobia. 'Forever in your Mind' member basically saying that only Western artists deserve to be at the top and Asian artists should be at the bottom and need to be ostracized. It's okay if he said he don't like BTS music but he never said that. He only making stupid remarks during the interview. Such as 'I can't understand what are they saying'. So by what they mean, people in Asia also can't enjoy English songs since they can't understand English either. In other word, he hates Korean language and think English is the greatest language in the world.

Pausing at 5:52: in Korea, "idols" and "artists" ,don't hate me, those are in quotes because those words in Korea have had very distinct meanings, because prior to BTS they were very different things. Idols are kids who came up through the strict training system program. Idols typically don't pick their group names, concepts, they often don't even have a say in which songs will go on the album. You'll hear critics of idol music (idol music is what you think of when you hear kpop, but kpop is an industry and the style you associate with that term is really called idol music and members or so singers are called idols. ) And with regards to rap, traditionally rap & hip hop, all over the world it's understood that real rappers write their own bars. Most idols groups have mandatory training lengths and strict rules for living. BTS were recruited for a hip-hop group that wasn't even supposed to dance so the project changed. The only thing bang pd asked for was that the boys put their own hearts and thoughts into their music. Most companies don't give their idols that kind of freedom. Because Namjoon & Yoongi came from underground and had been creating their own music and raps since they were about 13, they were, at the time one of the only if not the only groups that did so. BTS paved the way for so many to be able to find their own time to write. A lot of idol groups lip sync on live stages too. BTS sounded so good live no one believed they didn't lip sync. That's why you'll sometimes see members, usually yoongi, pause mid bar and the start up again.
I hope that made sense, I'm sorry I'm tied and my kid kept interrupting to talk to me, so I forgot the rest of what I wanted to say. If you watch the docu-series the rise of bangtan you'll see the difference between big hit and other companies as well between different groups. You could also check out boracity "how BTS paved the way" video. And ofc, BTS tackle all the deep topics, and show us the bad/sad/fights with the bad, which isn't common outside of them (or at least it wasn't when BTS began)
💜 I'm gonna shut up now and enjoy the video. Thank you for your reaction. I purple you 💜 eta: as for cute & food, it's actually considered extremely rude to refuse food if offered it in Korea, at least in the area I lived it was. Do you know how many of these little soft candy things made of rice I shoved in my mouth with a smile, when in reality inside I was absolutely dying lol?! It's not that they tasted bad, but I'm extremely sensitive to textures, not just food but everything. And the texture of those were horrible to me. But there was no way I was going to insult the little old ajumma's & ahjussi's who were kind enough to offer it to me. Also, keep in mind Jungkook was only 19, still pretty young to be ostracized like that.
About them being asked about past plagiarism issues, the problem was that the reporter was a plant, he actually worked for another company and was sent to make BTS look bad. I find that part hard to understand in her video. I didn't understand what the big deal was with that until I learned more about Korea and how the music shows and television networks really worked.
It was a proven thing, dispatch (like a newspaper for the industry, inc acting etc ) showed that BTS and another group released their albums on the same day and met the criteria for the award. The other group took home the trophy, but BTS wasn't in the ranking. That's discrimination, they were just left out and not acknowledged. She beeps it because she doesn't want to refuel the fire.
The naver thing is bad, normally BTS would be in Korea on certain holidays where it would be huge news etc , people would Google things pertaining to the show, what the guys are wearing, or a certain song they perform. Well if it's only shown on the app big hit invented, Google would get less hits of people looking them up , whereas normally people would Google BTS a billion times making Google lots of $$. So instead Google invests in a rival of big hit, then Google ensures that news about BTS is downplayed etc
That's kind of a shitty example, and because of the way things are done over there it's not translating well, it's not quite the right example but I hope you get the idea 🙂
Xenophobia is the fear / dislike of outsiders, those different from you
The ass from forever in your mind said "BTS should be in their own category because he feels like someone from the US or UK should be at the top" meaning a white English speaking boy band should be at the top not a bunch of Asian men with language he can't understand.
The mean blond girl was saying he's trying to look like a trashy white chic named Ashley. Asian men can't have naturally blue eyes and be wholly Asian. Jimin is wearing blue colored contacts and he looks wonderful like that. She's the trashy one for sure

Gods pls ignore my run on sentences and spelling errors, I was tired, my kids kept interrupting and I'd lose my train of thought and now that I've noticed the errors and corrected some of them, it is even later, and I'm even more tired. Sorry for the poor explanation I'll do better next time. Fighting! Lol 😭 hopefully you got the gist of what I was trying to say 😂 💜
Eta: ok I swear this is the last time lol, during the break wings part when you said "come on why it's not that deep" it's because of the way Korean awards work. While sales & streams do contribute to the calculations, so do votes from the audience and home viewer votes as well. Keep in mind, most groups who debut don't last 100 days. In 2013, BTS debut day, over 1 million kids wanted to be idols. Hundreds debut each year and something like less than 1% sticks around. (My numbers may not be quite right as I said... Super tired.
It's super competitive because even after debut , every comeback if you don't make enough $$ your team could be forced to disband. So fandoms of multiple groups all banned together to try to break BTS. But they don't break they just get better and better 💜
They wanted *their* groups to win.

The term Idol is not used here in the western context, as in someone being idolized as a personality.
Idol is a K-pop industry term to describe performers in the kpop industry. They are referred to as idols from day one. It's a descriptive term like calling someone a rapper or a wrestler or a pharmacist etc. They have simply referred to as idols.
The comments that were being made during that interview with the boy band or not positive at all. The one guy was saying that he thinks a European or American boy band should be at the top was inferring that only white people should be there and not Koreans. Hateful.

THE misogyny one is actually stupid. They are referring to War of Hormone which is a great track.
